Hi guys! Can I run this past you and see what you think? First time to WDW, family of 4 with boys aged 8 and 5, staying in a villa, prob first 2 weeks Feb 2007. (I know, I'm a planner!!!)

MK 2 days, arriving at park opening and poss 1 evening visit to watch evening parade and fireworks

AK 1 full day

MGM 1 full day with Fantasmic dinner package

Epcot 2 days incl Illuminations

SW 1 poss 2 days

Also want to visit Kennedy Space Centre, at least one Water Park and do some shopping. Also possibly DisneyQuest.

We will probably purchase 14 Day Ultimate tx for Disney, and 1 day ticket for SW, hoping that extra days can be added as per current offer.

Does that sound reasonable?

Michelle

I think it sounds fine Michelle, I always think planning is part of the fun but have never planned each day out as we would just change it - several times.

We stay in a villa too and love the extra freedom and privacy, I would suggest you have a decent idea what you will do the first 2 or 3 days and then just see how you feel each day.

We like to have plenty of rest days away from the parks, for shopping , watching Joshua play in the pool etc, just do not be afraid to change your plans once you arrive.

I agree. After doing all the parks last year, we're planning a good few rest days or mornings/evenings only at parks. :sunny:

I think for a first timer to WDW a daily plan would be best, you can change it as per your daily mood but a basic idea of what to do will stop you feeling as though you are missing out on anything.

Have you got 'A Brits Guide to Orlando & Walt Disney World'? It is my bible when it comes to research & planning, especially good advice on quiet & busy days at each park.

Have you given any thought on Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure?

Most of all, have fun :thumbsup2

Yes we've got Simon's book! Very useful for research into attractions etc.!

I have considered Universal but we are not big coaster/thrill ride fans and the boys would be too young for most of them. Anyway, I've got to leave something for the next trip :) !

I think the 4 Disney parks plus water park/Kennedy/SeaWorld will keep us busy! I will have a detailed plan but be prepared to adapt it, depending on weather, attractions we want to go back to or don't see first time, levels of exhaustion.

I am considering booking some meals eg. dinner at Ohana, Fantasmic dinner package at Brown Derby, character breakfast somewhere, and possibly a few others. Any opinions?

If you are going to be returning, most of us do, you may want to consider the Magic Your Way Disney tickets.
You can get one's that do not expire so in theory could last more than one holiday, like the 10 day passes we have.

We are going to book our 1st character breakfast for this August, I have been recommended a few including 1900 Park Fare which is at Grand Floridian Hotel, this is where we are going to book for.

When I plan, I make a list of everything I want to do; parks, restaurants, malls. Then I make an itinerary covering each day. It's purely theoretical, I don't plan to stick to it, but it ensures we have something to do each day and that we do everything we want to.

I agree with Johnny and mumof2. Personally although a rough itinerary is good, it's better to be prepared to be flexible :) Plenty of rest, either days or afternoons by the pool / shopping etc :)

Looks good though :thumbsup2

Best advice - just get used to the idea that you will NEVER have enough time to see everything. We've been going 2 or 3 times a year since 1981 and there are still things we've never done or seen!!! Keeps us going back though!

Have a wonderful time - I envy anyone experiencing it all for the very first time - it is the most magical thing and you'll talk about it for years. I still cry every time I see the castle at MK!
