Hey everyone! My fiance and I are getting married August 5th and will be leaving that afternoon to head to FW to camp for a week for our honeymoon. :cool1: We just bought a new tent that is bigger than our last one since we will be there for a week. I am wondering...how big are the sites? We have a partial hookup site. My fiance is afraid that after we stretch out the loops to stake the tent in, it will be too big. I don't think this is the case, but I figured I should ask to please my fiance. Also, if you all have any packing tips, tips for keeping cool, tips for honeymoon things to do, etc. please pass them along! Only two more weeks and we will be there! I am so excited...I am like the people on the Disney World commercial that can't sleep the night before they leave for their trip because they are "too excited to sleep!" Looking forward to your information and advice! :Pinkbounc Thanks!

First off let me congratulate you on your wedding on Aug 5th. It is a great day. My dh and I will be married 28 years on Aug 5th so I think it is a good day.

You don't say what size your tent is. We have camped there several times (site 1506 is one of our favorites). The sites are good sizes. We have even had two tents on the site and my friend had 3 tents on the sites.

Don't forget to put up a tarp over the tent. It will save you some trouble with the afternoon thunderstorms.

The sites should definitely be big enough, I have used a 16x20 and a 9x9 on the same site along with a screen house, but I will say that the partial sites in loop 2000 are a little larger than the sites in 1500 loop.

Congrats !!!!
Now as tents go, we have a tent that sleeps 10 that fits just fine. We've camped there 4 times and never had problem.
Cograts again!!!!

It's funny what you say about site 1506. I found 1506 to be incredibly narrow with a tree in a bad spot. I guess it's just how folks perceive things.

1503, 1517, and any of the sites in 2000 have been plenty big for my 13x13 and my shelter.

Just tell the folks at Ft. Wilderness what size tent(s) you have and they will get you in a place that works for you.

As for staying cool - You're going in August ... good luck.

No, seriously - I believe if you look through the camping discussion items, you will find one about A/Cs in tents. There is even a website where you can buy something called an "AC Boot" which allows you to use a small A/C for your tent. You might want to check it out ... it looks "Cool".

Thank you so much! Our tent is at 12 x 10. The ropes just kind of stretch out far, so he was worried. Now, thanks to bord1niowa I can SHOW him that it will with plenty of space! Thank you so much! We have a tent fan, but more ideas to keep cool would be much appreciated!

I don't know if you have a separate cover for keeping the sun off your tent or not, but we found that emergency blanket really works on the top. You can see it on the outsides of our pop up in the pics I put on that site I put on the previous post. It made a world of a difference inside the pop up.

Oh wow! I never would have thought of that! Thanks! That's a terrific idea! :cool1:
