Has anyone done the tent rental thru Tina @ Campatthefort? I would love to see some pictures of it!

Some of these Private rental people are not worth taking chances on...There have been lots of compliants on this board lately about deposits not being returned, etc.

I would suggest you purchase a tent instead. You can get a (10 person) - nice one for under $150. If you don't want to bother with it at the end of your trip, simply donate it to someone in your Loop. (That's what we do.)

Disney also rents tents they set it up on your site before you get there and take it down after you leave $31 a night + site cost

Wow,
Let me know when you'll be at the fort and leaving one. I'd love a new tent.

Dude,

To be fair, please tell the rest of the story.

Which is....

The complaints were made and the deposits were returned per the people who made those complaints.

Nobody lost any money.

Furthermore, although I've never had to rent a camper nor have I met or had any contact with Tina, this board has plenty of testimonials (use the Search function) over the several years she has offered this service all of which have been positive.

She was among the first to offer camper rentals at the Fort (that came across this board). I have friends who have a future rental with her as well.

So before you lump her in with other vendors who take people's money (like a golf cart vendor some folks here used), consider the situation from a complete point of view then please be intellectually honest.

For the original poster (OP), the tent package looks like it represents an excellant value if you are into camping. Not just for the tent per se but all the things that come with it that you don't have to pack (sleeping bags, coolers, chairs, etc).

Good luck to you kylovebug!

I was just gonna ask....
When you rent a tent, do you get all the essentials that you need to camp?

You need not scroll back too far (about 3 weeks) to find a complaint. A number of people got together to file a group complaint with the BBB, etc.

It's easy for you to say "no problem in the end" when you're gambling with other people's money and vacation plans.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. I wonder if there are pics anywhere of Tina's or disney tent rentals? When I read the description on Tina's website I thought it was a very good deal, I would just like to see pics of it set up. We want our girls to experience tent camping and I think the fort would be just the place to do it!

Dude, I keep up with the boards. So you saw the thread on page 1 that those deposits were returned, right?

I treat your money like it's my own money. They got their refund back. Therefore the gamble was zero. People generally have nothing but positive things to say about Tina's performance. So that gamble is zero.

A delay in refunding the deposit is a bump in customer service. Clearly your attitude suggests you only buy items on ebay and amazon from sellers rated 100%, never bought a used car, and only pay full price for things from authorized new dealers. Otherwise (using your logic here), it's a gamble right? Oy....

Tina still delivers performance overall. I'd obvously drop her mythical rating a few points for this episode but it would still be in the mid- to high-90s in my mind. I'm glad that the people got their deposits back. I'm glad people use her (and other outside vendors) to experience the Fort in a way that they otherwise couldn't or wouldn't.

This board has a nice stable of outside vendors for camper rentals, golf cart rentals, grocery deliveries, baby stroller rentals, etc to serve people wanting to stay at the Fort.

For kylovebug,

what time of year were you considering coming to the Fort and tent camping? I have nearly a year of tent camping days under my belt (not counting camper days) and I would think an introduction should be made as smoothly as possible. For example, I wouldn't suggest tent camping (unless you are really gung ho) in the summer at the Fort because of the frequent afternoon rain showers, the heat and humidity at night, and the like. Shoulder seasons (spring and fall) tend to be drier and nicer weatherwise. Mid-December to early February can be great for tent camping (cool nights and mild days) but you get extremes too (like a really cold spell).

You sound like you want the kids to have a pleasant experience so it helps to know the odds (or the gamble, if you will) around your expectations.

We would be coming in Feb or March probably. We have been trying to come to WDW for a few years but life keeps getting in the way. We live about 12 hrs away and I would love to not have to haul all that camping equipment down there. I sent her an email to see if she had any pics of the set up. It will help with my negotiating with DH :rolleyes1

Sorry Ed,
I have to respectfully dissagree.:flower3:
We've been in business for 35 years. Has every customer been happy :confused3 Realistically, ..of course not. That being said, we make EVERY effort to address their concerns. I've seldom had a customer who when told that their concerns matter to us, and that we want to rectify any dissatisfaction they may have encountered leave unhappy. COMMUNICATION is key. Most business' depend on referrals. Customer service is probably more important than the actual product or service provided.

Having to threaten legal action and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau is no "bump" in customer service. There just isn't any reason for it to get that far. It's easily avoided by addressing the customers concerns whatever they may be, or however trivial they may seem. Some people need a little more "stroking" than others, and keeping them informed..one way or another about their concerns is good business.

I think most people can read a review and pull out of it what might be important to them, and what might not be applicable. That being said, personally speaking...good customer service is important, and shouldn't be minimized.

Just my 2 cents of course!

Ed, Thanks for saying what I have been trying to get across to people in recent days. I do not know Tina, have not had any dealings with her, and do not know her refund policy. I also do not know the people who have complained or how they aproached her for the refund. I do not know the reason for the "bump" with Tina, but there have been too many years of good service from her and too many favorable comments about her service to have a reputation shredded so easily by a few caustic comments. If someone has some concrete information, let it come forward. Otherwise give her the benefit of the doubt. I doubt very many people have needed the refund of a deposit from her for a Fort visit, and we have not heard from the many satisfied customers...just perhaps a few special circumstances. :grouphug:

Regarding the bolded sentiment...
This is why people who have actually experienced her service (or any service referenced in the forum for that matter) should reply directly to those inquiries; having had the benefit of really experiencing the service. They bring real life experience to the table..not just a recommendation.
It appears to me, that when that has happened, the concerns or issues raised are minimized by posters who have never actually used the services.
