My husband and i are looking to stay are Fort wilderness for a few days in Sept. It seem like pop ups are so expensive to rent and but tent camping seems crazy in the florida heat!
I would love opinions!
Thank:)

Welcome to the camping board Irobillard217.

You could also get an A/C for the tent. That would make sleeping more pleasant.

My thought is, is that you know your family best. Me... I could make the tent camping work (even in Florida). I like the outdoors. I have camped (in tents) in very HOT weather (no sleeping bag needed) and very COLD weather (waking up to dig out from the snow). So the tent thing (especially with an AC) I could make work. Sadly though (or maybe happily too), it's not just me. My DW.... NO WAY would she tent. She is more of a "Glamper". If necessary, she might compromise to a Pop-up if it has AC, heat, Toilet, TV, and a fridge. She is less concerned about a stove/oven (well maybe a microwave) because I do most of the cooking.

Questions to ask yourself. How would the temperature (with or without AC) impact you and the family? What about sleeping accommodations? Cots, sleeping mats, inflatables, beds? Linens or sleeping bags? Refrigerator or coolers? (Do you have access to Ice?) Are you bringing the stuff with you or are you renting it on-site? Since it seems cost is a factor, do you have your own tenting equipment?

I am not looking for answers to these questions, I just think you need to know the answers to figure out what's best for you and your family/group. You must consider the entire group, because let me tell you, 1 unhappy person can spoil it for the entire group. So if "Little Suzie" is going to be miserable the entire time because of the choices made for her, it will impact everyone else.

Just know that whether you are camping in a tent or a 5er, there are levels of compromise. On a scale of "Roughing it" Tenting is near the top but a MH is closer to glamping then roughing it.

We have been tent campers for years and I could not get my hubby on board with tent camping AT DISNEY...so we bought a very used popup and he is excited to take our first FW camping trip and has really enjoyed our camping trips off the ground more.
Our last tent trip we got ants in the tent and even the kids were not happy.

We don't mind tent camping. But we avoid May-Sept in Florida. Just too hot.
Lows in low 70s and down work for us and highs in the 80s are okay.

It seems a/c technology for camping is much improved, so that may be something to look into. Fans may work as well. But if I truly had a choice, I would go with the pop/up in September.

Point of reference, we slept on our back porch in Florida for 1- 2 weeks in 2004 due to the hurricanes and power outage. (Don't remember exactly how long but we were one of the last homes to get power and because another one was coming, we left all our boards up and couldn't even air out the house.) We managed because we had to and it was an adventure. But not something we would elect to do if we could avoid it. Closest example I have to tent camping in September in Florida.
