Tent Camping-Electronics

Thinking about camping the second week in August. We will have a long drive from Illinois, so we will be bringing our laptop, Ipods, Ipad.

This has never been an issue in the past. However, I worry about leaving them in the heat of the car while we are in the parks. Any ideas? I know we can do without most of them. However our kids watch videos during the drive. Plus we email instead of calling our families.

"direct sun light" keep in mind your entire car is nothing but a computer, yet it operates in all kinds of heat and cold, but all the computers are covered. Keep your lap top out of direct sunlight and I think you will be fine

The have safety deposit boxes for free at the Outpost.

We had heard of an Ipad being damaged after sitting in a hot car. So that was a worry.

Suitcase in case of rain. Check. I will remember that.

Does anyone have photos of, or know the measurements of the safety deposit boxes? I've always just put my laptop and other valuables in the car, but on my next visit I'll be flying to the Fort and tent camping. Are the safe boxes big enough for a laptop?

What we have done in the past is to put our electronics in a cooler and out of the sun (no ice...). The inside of the cooler will not warm up as fast as the rest of the car and as long as the items are completely off (not in sleep mode). You should be ok. Be sure to let them cool off before turning them back on.
