My daughter & I are road tripping before she heads to college & have 3 nights planned to tent camp at Ft Wilderness. This will be our 1st time at the Fort but we have been car camping for a couple years.

Just last week we were in the OBX and missed Tropical Storm/Depression Bonnie by a day.

As of this morning the forecast for next Tuesday shows 60%+ chance of rain & it notes potential for tropical development to last through Wednesday (our only park day).

We requested the 1500 loop, how bad is the flooding there with torrential rain? Anyone experience tropical moisture conditions at DW?

Oh, yes, we have been at FW during tropical storms as well as 'normal' summer thunderstorms - but not in a tent. Any, and all, of the sites can experience some flooding, so hard to pinpoint any particular loop/site.
Unless you've happened to be in a site when the hard rains come, and see it, you wouldn't remember which ones have the tendency to flood more.
We've never seen any of the 'cement' pads flooded, but around them 'some' (tent pads, etc.) may have issues - even if temporarily during downpours. Sorry, but beyond taking 'tenting' precautions, there can be no guarantees.
Will wish you some pixiedust:

I kinda figured... :worried: Thanks for the reply!

I don't mind camping in the rain... I just hate setting up when it's raining :sad2:

Bump with a question... What happens to tent campers if a Tropical Storm or tornado warning occur? Is there a designated building we can shelter in if we're at our site?

Procedure is that the guests are evacuated to Disney resort hotels and recreational vehicles are moved from Fort Wilderness into the STOLport parking lot, surrounded by Disney buses.

We were there during TS Fay a few years back, and all the tenters left, and lots of trailers - there was enough warning time for them to do so. We stayed (in motorhome), but were told unless the sustained winds became 35mph or greater, we would not be evacuated.
They kept us regularly updated - was bad flooding though. Would have left also, but we would have been moving into path of storm, which would have been more dangerous driving.
