As I sit in my camper, in the rain going drip drip drip, I wonder how much would it cost? It is older, 1997, Coleman fleetwood. It is pretty big can sleep 8 no problem. We bought it a year ago and only use it a handful of times during summer. The leak is along the seam of the pop out bed, yes it probally be glued but the canvas overall is not great. Anybody had their pop up redone?

Tami,

Actually this is not uncommon and as a fellow pop-up owner, I try to take care of my canvas as best as I can since I know the day is coming that I will be in your shoes.

The cost of an entire replacement will run around $1,000 depending on the exact make/model/features of your camper. Here are two websites that I've bookmarked that could provide more info:

http://www.bearcreekcanvas.com/

http://www.canvasreplacements.com/index.php

Of course, if it's only leaking in one place and you don't have to replace the entire canvas, then you could get just that part made and it would cost proportionally less.

You might want to review the forum boards at http://www.popupexplorer.com which I often go to. There is some expert advice and they have many boards. Your canvas question might be under the "Fix My Pop-Up" one. Use the "search" function (as I just did when writing this) and there are lots of posts - hopefully there will be some good info for you.

I understand how you feel. I don't want to get rid of my pop-up (unless one of my kids wants it) so it's something you want to take care of and keep going because if you could fix that one little thing it would be great! :dance3:

We met a girl at the fort earlier this month who had the tops of her ends redone at a boat top place. They looked really good and actually more durable than the original.

I forgot to mention her tops were done too, but not by a marine top company.

The Right Honorable Mayor of Fort Wilderness (Donnie) brings up a good point.

The canvas used in today's pop-ups is "marine"-grade canvas as in boating/marine. Alot of the sites I've been to looking for bunk-end wraps (to wrap around the slide-out beds on the outside and hang down to the ground) use the same material offered in boat canvas/covers/etc. I've been looking for BE wraps to keep all my stuff that I unload "out of sight and out of mind".

If your problem is not a big one, having a boat/marine place repair or replace the problem piece could be the way to go too if you don't end up wanting to replace the whole thing.

Thanks so much for your help. If we are going to keep this camper for five years ( which at this point I think we are) I think just replacing the whole canvas would be best. This is our first camper and it fits our needs for now. Thanks for the websites!:goodvibes

I'm still trying to get over you calling a 1997 camper 'older' :lmao:

Well in our group of freinds mine is one of the older ones!:goodvibes Although one couple has a 1971 truck camper, so I guess mine is new compared to theirs!:rotfl:
