Tennis shoes in the parks

Probably a kind of weird question, but I'm weird about my (and my kids) shoes staying clean.
As the weather seems to be getting cooler I'm thinking instead of the Nike sandals my son wears he'll just wear his good school tennis shoes. My question is do they get terribly dirty in the parks? Last time we went it was summer and we all wore sandals. I don't have anything to compare to (and this REALLY isn't even a comparison as far as parks are concerned) but I know at our Six Flags over Texas, if you wear a semi decent pair of tennis to the park, you can forget it! They'll be black by the time the day is over. Is it that bad in the Disney parks too?

They won't be bad at all - and that's what shoes are for anyway! :goodvibes DH is a sporting goods store manager and he sprays all of our shoes with Water Repellant before we leave. It really helps keep them dry AND more clean. If they get super dirty, you can wash athletic shoes in your washer...just put them in with some towels on the gentle cycle. Don't be scared! :thumbsup2

They won't be black, but they won't be spotless either. If you require that the tennis shoes be "bright white" with no dirt on them when you exit the park, then you might want to find another option. Maybe a colored tennis shoe or one with a patter (plaid or something) so that any dirt they may pick up along the way won't be noticeable?

I have some tennis shoes that have a grayish color to them and I've worn them on my last two Disney trips. After nine days both times I couldn't tell any discernible change in color.

Awesome! Thank you. I don't need for them to stay perfectly clean or anything and they're not white, I'm not that crazy. :lmao: I was just hoping they wouldn't be black by the time we left.

Well, I'm still wearing my Teva Pretty Rugged leather sandals when I go 10/9. Florida is still hot this time of year to me. :D

We wear tennis shoes all year round. I've never gotten mine so dirty that I had to come home and wash them. Disney World doesn't have a lot of mud or even dirt laying around so you are pretty safe. Even their playgrounds have the same type of stuff school yards have (I think it's recycled rubber?). I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Besides, at Disney World, you don't dress for style, you dress for comfort.

DD wore her white keds tennis shoes on Kali River Rapids. They got soaked, and then filthy. So keep in mind, white shoes and water rides don't mix. Have a great trip!

I would rather my tennis shoes get filthy than my feet any day! But, no, they don't get that dirty. I wear two pairs of tennis shoes all week and don't remember having to come home and throw them in the washerl...

2nd.

you can buy sneaker cleaners and most of any dirt will come out.

In the cooler months I switch from Crocs to sneakers anyways. I never go in jeans though unless the temps are below 60. My legs rarely get cold, but i'll wear layers for my body, just not the legs.

Same with sneakers. unless you do water rides and find some dirt to jump in after wards, you should be fine. My sneakers i've never noticed a change in dirtiness from using them in Disney

Disney World grounds are generally cleaner than most schools I've been in, so I wouldn't worry about about wearing the "good school shoes" much. ;).

I usually bring sneaker cleaner, because I am a weirdo about dirty sneakers. It drives my husband and sons crazy.

I wore flip flops every day and even then, my toes and shoes stayed completely clean =)

bring some baby wipes they will usually clean any of the rubber/leather areas pretty good.

I've worn pure white shoes and they stayed clean...
