Tennis Players - Whats your rating??

I posted this on the Community forum, but then I found this place, and I think it may be a better fit!!!

Hey tennis players - whats your rating??

I started playing tennis when I was 10 years old, and played at the same club for about 10 years, and never heard of any "rating" system (I guess there was no need for it since I knew all the coaches, they all knew me, and they knew where to put me). Since playing in college, I've gotten married, had kids, and tennis has gone by the wayside .
This past summer I found a club, and have really gotten back into it, and I really love it! Anyway..... I was taking a group lesson, and asked the coach what he would rate me at - he said he can't really tell after just an hour, but he would rate me between 3.5 - 4. Does anyone know what thats out of???

I'm in a similar situation as you. I played for many years starting when I was in jr. high school. I eventually got burned out, got married, had a couple of kids, and recently rekindled my love for the game. Here's the USTA rating that would help answer your question. I've never been officially evaluated but the last coach told me my level of play was a 4.5.
