Roger's mom is retiring and talking about moving to Knoxville. He and she are very close so he's talking about selling his shop and opening a new one in Knoxville. If he did that, I would go with him and we would retain primary physical custody of the children (with Thom retaining joint legal custody.) Thom has no problem with this arrangement. Now, my question is does anyone know anything about Tennessee (especially the area close to Knoxville)....has anyone lived there, etc? Thanks in advance. Oh, and for anyone who's wondering I would attend University of Tennessee if we moved there.

I live about sixty miles from Knoxville. It is a big city where everything is Tennessee Vol! During the fall you will see so much orange that you will dream in orange! I don't know if I would live right in Knoxville but somewhere outlying. Knoxville is very close to the Smokies, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood. There are some wonderful schools there. Also Knoxville has a fantastic zoo! AngieBelle went to UT there for four years so you might want to email her. Also Buckalew lives in Maryville which is closer to Knoxville than I am. If there is anything you want to know in particular just email me and I will be glad to help you out anyway I can. East Tennessee is a wonderful place to live!:)

Sorry, I don't know Knoxville. We were in the Chattanooga area and LOVED it! It was a place we considered moving to.

Lived in Knoxville for almost 5 years, and can't wait to move back out of this do nothing worth nothing mountain town I was born in

I lived in west knoxville and it was the best 5 years of my life.

Becki, If there is anything I could help you with, let me know. East TN is a great place to be. :)

That's very near to my area, Sandy.:)

I've been through Knoxville, we actually had to make a u-turn one time at the UTK parking lot.:teeth: The only thing I've heard about Knoxville is it has a good Zoo. I'm not very familiar with it. Good luck, whatever you decided to do, Becki.:)

honeywolf7, just repeat after me..."GGGGGOOOO VVVVOOOLLLLSSSSS!!!!!" now, you'll be just fine....

Wow, Shannon! On that trip we also visited Stone Mountain...LOVED it! Could I actually have seen your backyard from this point? It's that great spot where you can see 7 different states. :)

I was born in Oak Ridge, which is right next to Knoxville. We visit every year but usually stay in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Geographically it's quite beautiful. It's in the Appalachains and a short drive to the Smokies. Just over the border in NC is a Harrah's Casino. I don't think there are table games but TONS of slots if you like that. Winters get pretty cold and lots of snow. I know my grandma was snowed in on several occasions when she lived in Wartburg (which is only a 30 min drive from Knoxville).

If you are going to go to UT, I recommend you try to live in Knoxville if possible. The commute will be easier.

Fair warning, parking on campus is a NIGHTMARE! The cost of living is resonable and the quality of life is fine. Everything does revolve around the men's football team with a little Lady Vols basketball thrown in for fun!

I grew up in the Fountain City part of Knoxville and my mom still lives there. While all the excitement is in West Knoxville so is the traffic LOL!

I never did seemed bothered by the traffic, theres just so many ways to get where your going.

I can drive better in the 5 years I lived there than the 5 years I had my license back here in the mountains

BTW, Kenny Chesney is from Knoxville:D ;)

Kenny Chesney is actually from Luttrell, TN :p Close, though.

Off topic: I love that Kenny Chesney picture in your signature. I wish I could have myself some of that! ;)

Another off topic one here: Several years ago (actually I think it was the first year Kenny was played on the radio) we went to a show in Knoxville and stayed somewhere just outside of town. Anyway, Kenny's family was having a HUGE family reunion just across the street from us. So who knows Becki, you just might run into him somewhere over there!

That's a good pic of you, Sandy.:) It's actually at Rock City.:) We were there last month. You can't see my backyard from the look off there, too many hills and the mountain is in the way. I think the closest you can see is about 15 miles from my backyard.:)

Becki, Maryville is supposed to be a great place to live and go to school.:) It's near Knoxville.:)

Now, how did this turn into a Kenny Chesney thread ;) I better not tell Roger he's from out there or he's likely to say "never mind....let's not go." LOL

They're doing highway construction and the traffic sucks! :p It took me an hour to get through there yesterday and Friday. That's all I know! :teeth:
