Can anyone explain the tendering process in Grand Cayman? Are there lines to get off the ship? How long does it take. I have only cruised when the ship had docked so I am unfamiliar with this process.

The tendering is really quite painless. They have a number of double decker boats that line up to take you off. If you are on a morning excursion no need to worry - they will take you right on the boat.

If you are not on an excursion go to the designated meeting place (usually the Walt Disney Theatre) and get a boarding ticket. Very simple. After the first couple of boats tickets aren't needed and it is come and go as you please.

Thanks for the info. We have an excursion planned that we booked on our own and I was a little worried about making it off the ship in time!

I agree. Tendering was painless. We showed up at the Walt Disney Theater at 7:20am and were at Captain Marvin's at 8:05 for our 8:30 tour. We cut it a bit close, but I would do it again! :)

What if you did not book the excusion directly with DCL, can you still go on the boat right away or do you have to meet in the theatre? We are booking directly with Captain Marvin.

Thanks.

If you didn't book your excursion with DCL, then you have to meet in the theatre (or wherever the designated place is for your cruise). I would allow plenty of time...check your navigator the night before for the info for tendering.

we booked directly with Capt Marvin for 10:00 am. Yes you must go to Walt Disney Theater. I too was worried that we wouldn't make an early boat, so I got to the theater at 8:15. We were on a tender boat by 8:45, so my worries were really for naught. We were at Capt Marvin's ( a 10 minute walk from the pier, turn left at the end of the pier, cross the street anytime in the next few blocks, keep walking the same direction, and it's a yellow building.

Is it a mad house at the Disney Theatre or is there some sort of order? Is it first come, first serve? Is there an orderly line?

Thanks.

It is not a mad house, and it is first come first serve.

Remember this is a 1000 seat theater, plenty of room. There is a cremember greeting you before you even enter the theater. She/he tells you to go in, and another crewmember directs you to a row of seats, you move all the way down and sit down. They are in walkie talkie communication with the tendering boat area, so when there is an available boat, your row stands up, and another crew member escorts/leads you to the tender boat. As usual, very organized, very calm!

We had the 1115 Capt marvins and showed up at the Disney theatre at 10am. We walked in one side of the theatre, walked out the other and by 1020 were walking down the streets of bridgetown to Capt Marvins. We arrived 20 minutes - 1/2 hr early and had time to see what we wanted to buy on the way back.
