We are tenatively planning a trip for January. I am tempted to go ahead and make ADRs because I know we will want to eat at some of the more popular places. But I feel guilty making ADRs and not having a trip booked.

What's appropriate?

People change and cancel their trips all the time. Just check the Canceled ADR threads, you'll see tons of posts from people who cancel their trips.

Don't let the thought of perhaps having to cancel a trip, or in your case, perhaps not being able to go ahead and book the trip, stop you from planning your trip, and yes, even making those ADRs.

It's not even like January just opened up for ADRs. Those that booked early already have what they want. ;)

So I say book your ADRs, and if you find that you aren't going - cancel them ASAP. You can even post them in the January thread here on the DIS, so they're 'first available' for another board member. :goodvibes

If you are seriously contemplating planning the trip.. then YES, book the ADRs. Is easier to cancel them than end up booking the trip later and having no ADRs.

We were thinking of going during President's weekend - and probably was about 50/50 whether going to do it or not. I booked all my ADRs. Then last week decided no, we will not be doing that trip, and just went online and was able to easily cancel them.

We're going in early July - but usually also go in April. Probably skipping April due to finances - but will be booking April ADRS just in case things turn around and we decide we will be able to make the April trip.
