Ten to WIN! (Losing 10 pounds a month)

Hey ladies... I'm in!!!! I have been REALLY struggling with getting going and getting this weight off. I am higher than I have ever been in my life. !

Beautiful PRincess Vija!!!! I remember you!! I so feel your pain...I can't tell you how many "last eat what you want meals" before we start that Monday morning diet my dh and I had...it helped me put 90 pounds on in 2 years!!! That's sooo hard to say!! But, I can say, I've reclaimed my goal...I'm motivated, I've got a confident little angry fire burning in me and I'm just TIRED of starting/restarting....I want to lose 80 pounds in 8 months, I do not want to make it take 2 years!! I will be happy if I end up losing 60 pounds in 8 months, but if I start thinking like that, the reality will be 35 pounds! :) So, shoot for the stars!

I will post pictures at my 40 pound loss, (only 4 pounds away from that!!), then I'll post pictures every 20 pounds...I'm actually making a really funny video...every 10 pounds, (first of every month) I'm having my 11 year old videotape 10-20 seconds of me on the treadmill working out to my favorite 8 songs (one for each 10 pounds)....I go a little crazy on teh treadmill b/c I try to work all the muscle groups for mass calorie burning...it's really laughable!! But I'll edit them all together to encourage others...I want them to see it! Just wish I had taken a shot of me on the treadmill at 265!! :)

Let's make fun of our plight, not take ourselves too seriously, don't get bogged down in feeding our fears....eat like you're at your goal weight already and the weight will come off!!!

I'll post a pic soon! On the wrong computer! :) Oh, and we had joined a program here in Alabama called "Scale Down"..I have a team of 4 and we have to prove we lost 10 pounds in 12 weeks, I have, but I'd like to get about 5 more off before weigh in there on Friday...my dh has NOT lost his 10 pounds so I told him I would only cook low carb this week to help him get there...so I expect a big weight loss this week! :)
Here it is!! The biggest I've ever been!! 265!!
IMG_0588_2.jpg

The great news is that I should be able to hit my first 40 pound lost (this journey) this FRIDAY!!! I'll take pictures and show side by side!! I was building my round pen in the picture before so very concentrated on those pins! :)

So, no one should feel embarrassed, if anything helps me lose weight it's posting these pictures!! :)

:cheer2: Way to go Tara!!! So proud of you for hitting the 220's!!! I am SOOOO close to getting under 200, but of course with my big water weight loss I will probably be back up in the 210's again soon. I am currently at 202 and would LOVE to keep going down and get under the 200's! Oh how excited I would be!

Missed this somehow, ONEDERLAND!!!! YES! You are THERE!! Only 3 pounds to see 199 and STAY below 100's for good! You CAN do it!! Here are the foods to avoid this next week...

high sodium foods, processed foods, fast foods (salads fine!)....eat 1 fruit a day and shoot for 3 different vegetables atleast!!! Try skipping salad dressings and stick with a bit of olive oil and lemon or red wine vinegar, it's good!! You can do this!!!!

Tara,

I am soooo petrified to get on the scale this week!! I don't want to see that scale go back up!!!!!!! Even though I know it is bound to happen! Thank you for the foods to avoid list!! I am definitely going to give that a shot!!!

I am going to go browse the computer so I can find some pics to post....

I purposefully picked one of the more rotten ones so the 'after' pictures will improve just on style alone! :) I do this thing where I talke myself of how big I got! When I drive I'll rest my left arm on the edge of the door, and from that angle (when all my flab hangs down where I can't see) my arms look perfectly sized!! Or, when I'm doing my crunches with my legs up in the air (pilates style) my legs don't look that bad, but cameras don't lie, it'll find every ounce of fat we try to deny is there!! :confused3

I went out to eat tonight and had salmon and a salad! So happy, I skipped all the bread/butter ....and it was not that hard!! I am feeling sooo committed to making this the LAST time I see each number each week!! :)

Let's not give up! Ten pounds a month is manageable especially just starting out!! :)

I made it to Zumba today, and walked a mile on the treadmill before hand. I did some measurements last Saturday, and redid them today I am down 2 inches in each thigh! Woohoo! And I fit into my skinny jeans this morning. The scale isn't much different but the inches are coming off. I noticed my waist is down an inch, hips 1 3/4" as well.

Need to work on my arms though. And do Pilates tonight and walk another couple of miles after lunch.
Thanks for the recipe link!! I love it! I really want to try Zumba, but I think I need about 30 more pounds before my knees can handle the movement/twisting...but I can put on my pilates DVD's....you've inspired me!

WAY TO GO!!!!! That is amazing to be down 2 inches in each thigh!!! I really think the treadmill helps whittle down thighs!! Somewhere around here I have measurements when I was at my highest last year, but that's the one area I can so tell has shrunk, my legs! Can't wait to see before/after picture to see if it really is noticeable on film! :)

You are doing a GREAT job on working out!! Keep it up!!

I have really really stuck to my good eating since Sunday! I can tell I've lost pounds, can't WAIT to see the scale on Friday...I only walked 2 miles 5 days last week (oh wait, I did have one 4 mile day as well...so I guess I hit 15 miles last week) but have done two 4 mile days in a row....sometimes when I start eating right, I get really low blood sugar and I'm dizzy the first few days, but I'm on day 4 now of eating right (no sugar, no bread..I'll add back in whole grain cereal on Friday) and I feel stronger now! I am drinking a load of water compared to what I usually do, so I think that makes my body happy!!

Not every week will be like this, but I would much rather go into my fourth week each month only needing to lose 1-2 pounds instead of 4-5 pounds to meet my 10 pound goal....

My motivation of the week: Do I want to spend 3 years getting to my goal or 9 months? If the Biggest Loser folks can lose 100 pounds (and more) in 13 weeks, then I can lose 80 in 36 weeks!!

Let's keep it going folks!!

so, a friend told me about an AWESOME (and free) app for the smartphone called "lose it". you put in how much you weigh/height now, what you want to weigh and it tells you the number of calories you need to eat a day and when your goal will be realized. THEN, you put in daily what you eat and it tells you the calories for each thing (they have an AMAZING search for food feature to help) and adds it up to tell you what you have left. you also have a spot to journal your exercise which it takes into consideration. I've used it two days and LOVE it. hope it helps!

I'm also using the couch to 5k app which is $2.99 but well worth it - it tells you when to walk/run while you are listening to your own music!

That is wonderful!! I am not even sure what a smartphone is but my husband has all the gadgets around, so I'm sure he has it, I do not have that kind of phone (I'm old school, don't text, just use it to dial people! :)) I'll let him know and maybe I can put it on my Ipad? Can you put apps on an Ipad?

Thanks!! Oh, and I am really peeved this morning! I have done AMAZINGLY on my low carb this week, have walked 5 days in a row on the treadmill, and I'm probably one day from starting my monthly joy....everything feels so bloated and my chest is so heavy....I got on the scale for my Thursday weigh in and have only lost 2.4 pounds since last Thursday....my husband, who only needs to lose 50 pounds total somehow lost 10 pounds in one week!!! And he did not exercise a whit and ate slim jims and pork rinds, I stuck to salads with no dressing and egg whites...oh my goodness!! I am due for a huge loss next week! Proud for my husband but seriously...2.4 pounds?? If that's what it takes for me to lose 2.4 pounds, I am really going to have to work HARD to hit that 10 pounds this month...I have 3 more weigh ins to lose 7 pounds....to hit my goal before the first Thursday in May...I can do it!!!

That app may be the trick to motivate me to stay the course! :)

Hope everyone is not feeling lowly and discouraged...it's so easy to get that way when the goal is farther...so I was hoping to take my 40 pound off picture, but it'll have to wait until next week :(

I use the LoseIt app and I love it! You can make a profile online as well, and honestly it's a really good gauge to see where you are for the day or week, and also they send you badges as you log more and more food and exercise.

Great motivator!:thumbsup2

Thanks!!

I got the Lose It app! Went to my Scale Back Alabama Weigh in and met my goal of 11 pounds (our state does an incentive for people to lose weight)! So, yes, I rewarded myself with food! ;) I had ONE hot Krispy Kreme doughnut from their ovens...calories 200!! Not as many calories as I thought!! I have had a Subway turkey sandwich with loads of veggies and only vinegar and oil, I'll have the second half for dinner and STILL stayed under 1200 calories!! :)

Gotta get my walking in today, but overall, pleased so far with this week!

Come on ladies, need your reports and updates!! 10 pounds OFF!! 10 pounds OFF!! Shout it out! :)

Tara

Hey girls.

I did my weigh in yesterday and I am up 5.6 lbs. So I didn't gain it all back but it was definitely more then I wanted to see. I will have to work extra hard to get it back off so I can hit the 10lb goal!!!!

It's been raining and cold here the last few days. I want to get out of the house! GRRRRR!!!

Shannon! That is great! You have an official number to start with and knock off those ten pounds, for sure count the four plus that stayed off after being sick! You should be so proud!
:thumbsup2

All right, I love the lose it app! But, I have already found a way to cheat it! Doughnut yesterday and today a cupcake!! I still stayed under 1200 calories but really, a cupcake? I think I liked it when I thought cupcakes had 800 calories, not 300!

No more sweets for me this week! I got my four miles in this week and will borrow a friend's 90px program and see if it can work for me, still feel a bit bloated ....sugar did not help....but I have six days to set it straight...

Keep a losing frame of mind!

So my sister is getting married in September, we went to try on dresses yesterday....:sad1: I am so disgusted by my body!!!! I hate it! THIS IS NOT ME!!! And of course it didn't help for her friend to be complaining that she had to get a size 6 instead of a 4! :sad2:

NOT FUN NOT FUN!!!

However!! You CAN work that into your favor!! The body you had yesterday WILL NOT be the body you have tomorrow!! June, July OR September!! What a GREAT treat to be able to have your dress taken in when you try it on!! :)

September is over 130 days away!! You can easily have 30 pounds off by then and that is a whole dress size and probably then some!! Pick some exercise that you can do at least 5x weekly, if your hips/thighs are your worst right now, walking and fast walking will trim them quickly! I'll be showing a before/after picture of the 40 pounds I've lost hopefully this week, you'll see the biggest difference in my large derrier and legs because I have walked SOOO much the past 4 months....minimum 2 miles a day and most days 4 miles a day...(I take a 2-3 week break just to let my muscles settle in and down!)

Let the discouragment stick around just long enough to light that fire that THIS is NOT where you'll be in September...and in September you will celebrate that wedding, and know you'll get to goal the next wedding!!

You can do it!!!

Going to post my food today:
Multigrain cheerios with skim milk (3/4 cup cereal, 1/2 cup milk, yes I measure b/c I need to count all foods!)
3 slices turkey wrapped around a slice of American Cheese
8 wheat thins (reduced fat)
1 pickle
10 honey roasted peanuts (yes, I'm counting these, too!)
Dinner will be a salad with fresh veggies and a slice of cheese toast

Everyone keep it up!!!
Tara

Oh it WILL be great when I can get the dress taken in! IT WILL BE TAKEN IN!!! You are such a great motivator Tara!!!!

Once this weather gets on the right track I will be out walking with the kids! It has been snowing the last couple days, so I have been stuck with my Active2 game for the wii. It is a great work out but it gets so boring. I would so rather be outside walking with the kids. I just finished my workout and I am sweating pretty good. It feels good to sweat!!! :yay:

Enough already!!

Blech, spit, gag!

I did GREAT on my calories this week, stayed under 1200 all except one day where it might have been 1500....and I GAIN???? I was down to 228 last week and was 229.4 this week...

So, I just caved a little, I had gravy on country fried steak and 5 bites of a chocolate cake...but I'm over my insanity...I know there will be weeks like that and my body is adjusting ....so I got a coupon today for 30% off Land's End suits and bought a size 10 top and bottom!!! I WILL wear those ON the ship next year!!! I'm going to hang them in front of the treadmill and keep going!

I also just got the 90x workout..so I'm starting that this week, I know it will kill me, but I'm going to try it....also I signed up for the Multigrain cheerios biggest loser website and have 7 days of menus to try out, going shopping tomorrow for it all...I will NOT have an Easter this year where I eat too many peeps!! I may allow myself one peep and THAT IS IT!!

So, come on 10 pounders! Let's get that first 10 pound under our belt, I've got 2 weeks to lose 8 pounds to hit mine...blech! But I KNOW I can do it!!!

Tara

Learn from the past, live for the future!!!

Saw that on a tattoo today, (facebook)...thought it fit our mission pretty well! :)

Tara! I am so thrilled to see you here!

You are such a great inspiration.

You are doing great with your journey. I know you can do this.
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
I love that you are back to inspire others to take the journey.

Actually, I am finding I need to get back onto the wagon after having found some pounds and enjoy your inspiration to get me going.

Aww Tara, I am so sorry about your gain. BUT I love that you bought a smaller size and are going to use it for inspiration!!! :thumbsup2

So my weigh in for the week is..........203!!! So I went down!! YESSSS!!! Only one more pound for my 10 lbs and a week to do it!!!! Seeing the numbers go DOWN is sooooo motivating it just shows that this IS working and I CAN DO THIS!!!! :mickeyjum

My name is Michelle and I am so inspired by you all.
It's what I'm going for! I'm going to Disney for my Birthday in June. So I have about
2 months and would like to drop 20.

So I plan to weigh in once a week, hoping for 10 pounds a month. I used to visit the gym religously
but didn't do so well after I moved in with Sister. She was going to go with me to the gym, and she kind of fell
through .... so my plans fell through. So it's time to do it without her, it's been 10 months, I don't think she's going. :rotfl:

So I'll have to be careful because even at 35, my knees bother me sometimes from the elliptical, but
I'm sure you girls have some great
ideas for knee pain.

I look forward to your progress, as well as mine! Any food tips along the way would be superb as well!
Thanks for letting me hop on board. :goodvibes

OMG, I can't stand people that do that crap. I do have a way of dealing with them though. You just look them in the eye with the most sarcastic look you can muster and go "Oh, it's so hard to be you, isn't it?":furious: Or if they really p!ss me off, I'll go find someone and switch the sizes without letting anyone else know, and then go into the dressing room and LOUDLY declare I need to smaller size and do a little whoo-hooing. (It's not a good idea to make me feel bad about my body, just sayin')

But don't let it get you down!! No one on Earth fights the battles you fight, so you can't compare yourself to anyone else. But you can do it!!
