All right...in a nutshell, I'm a habitual/stress eater and I have found an inner motivator to get it right for good this time.

W.I.S.H. helped me lose 65 pounds about 5 years ago, then we were in a situation where we had 2 house payments for 31 months! I just could not handle the stress other than eating my way out of it...my highest was 265..I am now 231 and am shooting for 10 pounds each month..my lowest in 5 years was 174...my goal is to be anywhere in the 150's...wait and see what my body feels like at that weight and possibly hit 145...but nothing below that...I am 5 foot 7 inches and .75 of another inch..so hey, I like to say I'm 5'8 and with shoes, I always am!

I got my motivation from sticking to a very strict exercise plan...I had planned to walk 4 miles EVERY day on the treadmill for 75 days straight..I know I should have taken a break, but I needed to convince myself I could do it, I made it 68 days then packing for our cruise in March took over and I had my break then...I walked 4 times in the gym on the ship and even lost a pound on our vacation!!! (Disney Wonder to Mexico) So, now I've got my new chart up on the fridge..I want to be at 221 by the first of May, then 211 by the first of June etc...if I can stick to this..I will be at my goal by January 1, 2012...I am 43 years old and celebrate my 20th anniversary next year, we're taking a family cruise on the Fantasy for it and I want to be down and in good shape...

Anyone who wants to commit to a 10 pound a month goal (those like me that have 50+ to lose) come on in....do NOT get discouraged if you don't hit it...figure it out...if you shoot for 10 pounds a month and only get 5...then in a year you would have lost 60 pounds..is that not worth celebrating??

The key for me is portion control, calorie intake and exercise...so I am starting my 75 day walking goal of 25 miles a week..I'll take a day off a week to allow my body to rest, I am shooting for at least 5 days at 1500 calories or less a week....there just always seems to be 1-2 days where I hit 2000 and I don't want to beat myself up about it...but the other day I had 2 chocolate chip cookies and STOPPED!! In the past I would have had 6 throughout the day easily! I only make them when we have company spend the night which is about once a month, so I don't deprive myself but I don't overindulge....

I'm on an 18 month plan (our cruise is in September)...I stay so busy during the week (3 kids and we homeschool, I teach writing classes to 20+ students, I lead a scouting troop, I take the girls to 3 dance classes a week, keep my son going to debate events...and train 2 horses...sooo busy, how did I gain this weight?? Oh, eating on the go!) that I may only be able to post for my weigh ins...but I will try and encourage all that are in the same boat as me...envision your healthy you and claim it!!!

Hi Tara! Wishing you The best of luck in your weight loss journey! You sound very motivated. I don't have as much to lose, but it is still hard. I am lucky if I lose a lb. a week. But I will take it!

I think planning and exercise are key! I am doing Ww, but also not eating a lot of carbs. Trying to get most of them from fruit and veggies.
I am finding that eating the foods that makes my body work to digest it...like veggies helps me burn calories better.

This weekend I made a big pot of roasted veggie soup that I love! Since it is only veggies and chicken broth it has hardly any calories, but fills me up and takes a long time to digest. I was so full all weekend that I didn't even want the treats.

On the days I don't plan is when I get into trouble and grab the cookies and
chips.

This morning I am home so I will try to plan and prepare a bunch of food to grab and go for the week. With three kids too, I know how busy life gets.

Wishing you the best and look forward to reading your updates!

Yes!! The days where we don't have anything to eat in the house is where we get in trouble...this weekend, we had nothing, my back was so sore from doing 8 hours of pasture work, so we went to Subway, I loaded my grilled chicken sandwich with veggies and split the footlong for both my meals..in the past I would have wanted fries with that! :) I have made a commitment to eat WHATEVER I want one day a month, I used to say one day a week, but that would stretch into 2-3..then I'm back to maintaining and not losing...

Great job on the beef stew, what a GREAT meal!! I try to keep everything fresh stocked and eat whole grains just once a day, it's either a cup of multi-grain cheerios or a slice of multi-grain bread. I also try to eat that in the morning...not later in the day...

No sodas, not even diet, gave up those...I still allow myself one about once a month, and only drink water/skim milk for liquids...try not to drink my calories...lots of little changes that add up....but it's time to make it happen for good!

OhMom!! You're still here!! What a wonderful treat!!! I know you are a GREAT motivator and so happy that you're still a W.I.S.H.'er!! :)

Here's to getting to a BMI of 23.5!! :)

I would love to join you!!! I am going to be a DCL bride in March 2012. Our ship leaves March 3rd and we are getting married on board on the 5th. I NEED to lose this weight before then!! I am looking to lose right around 80 lbs!!! We are also doing a MK photo shoot and I won't be comfortable getting those pictures done looking the way I do now!

BUT, even with all that, I am really lacking motivation! :confused3 It sucks! I know I need to do this and I WANT to do this, I just need to get my butt to the gym! I am currently doing weight watchers which has significantly helped with my portion control, but as a Stay at home mom, I am pretty inactive during the day.

Shannon!!! YES!! You CAN do this!! 80 pounds in a year is doable!! (I know, I've done it before! :)) Congratulations and how amazing to get married on the cruise!! :)

My top motivators:
1. The kids..I want to set a good example, I want to be the active grandma when they start blessing me with those in the next decades! :)
2. Clothing! I know it sounds shallow, but I just LOVE buying clothes on sale (Kohls for $5 pants that are so not my size right now, but I keep them in a section so that as I lose weight I am encouraged that now I can atleast fit a leg in them! :)) When I lose a 10 pound goal, I go and give myself $10 fun money to buy something I can wear a year from now!! :) It's fun and motivating!
3. Vacations!! I love Disney vacations and love planning them, knowing I can RUN up the steps to the AquaDuck is motivating!! I refused to go to the pool this last time...wouldn't even put a suit on...I want to thoroughly do everything, my weight keeps me back...so no more!! Let's find that inspiration suit and buy it...but wait until Fall when they're on sale! :)

It's tough but for 2 weeks write down every morsel that enters your mouth, you'll soon realize, "I don't want to write that down, so I won't eat it"...whatever it takes...prepare a lot of quivers of arrows and keep trying until you hit the right target...everyone has something else that motivates them!

I'm off to do my first 2 miles of the day, moving also is a motivator!! Once I'm on the treadmill, I never quit! :)

You have a LOT to look forward to! Let's help you get there!! :)

Shannon! Just envision yourself at a healthy weight and fit body, you'll get there!!! And with little ones like that it's soo easy to get tired and not do for yourself...so make a point to take them out in a stroller everyday that you can!

This first week has been so-so, I had 3 winning losing days (where I know I had under 1500 calories, most 1200...then I had 1 off day...I allow myself one off day a month, so this early in the month, it will be a challenge to make it the next 25 days and not eat off menu! But, it can be done!!

I only managed to work out 3 days this week, I did have 2 full pasture days...raking/piling/spraying so that helped too, but today starts my official 75 day run of 4 miles a day (taking every 7th day off or just doing 2 miles on that day...the walking daily actually helps so much to keep me focused and not fall into my old traps!) I'm loving the change in my family, they're eating well alongside me, being more conscious of what they eat/drink and right now my teenager son is doing his 3 miles on the treadmill!! We're changing!!

I will admit, some days I am sooo tired and just want to go to bed, but I will be on that treadmill at 11:30 at night sometimes just to get it done. Hopefully, I've learned from that and will commit to making my start to the morning a good workout first, THEN cleaning/life/teaching! :)

I have given up fries, sugar, and white flour...those things I allow on my one off day a month...fresh veggies/lean meats/whole grains/one fruit a day..that's how I'm working the food...

I weigh in on Thursdays, are you going to weigh weekly? I'll post my weigh in here tomorrow!
Let's get losing!!
Tara

Hi Tara!

Sorry I've been MIA. I came down with the flu! It is so terrible!!! So needless to say I haven't been in the working out mood. I have lost about 5 lbs from it though (obviously water weight). I'm hoping it will give me a little bit of a head start rather then just coming back x10!

I weigh in on Fridays! So I will have a number for you tomorrow!!!

Great job so far with your working out even if you do it late at night, at least you are getting it done. That is so great that your family is following along with you and eating better!!! It is finally starting to get nice outside so I will definitely be getting the kids out once I start feeling better. I am so weak and nauseous!

Keep me posted on how you are doing!!! I hope you have a great number to report today!!!

Would love to join as well! I lost 10 pounds my first month, but I am going to try and do it again this month. I bumped up my workout schedule to 5 Zumba classes a week, and 8 miles a week in walking, plus I also added Pilates core training. Yes, I am sore.

I also am on a net caloric intake of 1200, and trying to keep it there or close to 1300 on some days.

I just lost 20 lbs on Wish! (since Jan.)

I have a shoulder injury but wan to lose 15 more by June 11!

You are all motivating me. Now the weather is nicer, I will commit to walk!

25 miles a week is alot for me right now. I think I will go for 15 miles a week to get started. I can walk and my should will not hurt!!

Thanks for sharing your stories and great ideas!!
Good Luck everyone!!!

:goodvibes

I'll join! Im also planning on doing the 1/2 marathon in january 2012 so this would be a good tie in.

WELCOME ALL!!

Well, I lost 1 pound this week!! :cool1: I had a couple of days with high sodium/more than 1500 calories so I'm happy with the one pound...I have walked my 4 miles for 2 days in a row now and feel a bit weak, but really motivated once I get on!! :)

I need to get 3 pounds off this next week, so I'm really focused on food intake and water...I do drink unsweet tea about 5x a week, so I may try to cut that out...let's make this a losing week!!!!

So proud of each of you for taking the commitment on! We're here to help you on the days you just want to give up and cheer you on the days that you slammed it and made it a losing venture!! :)

Tara

Good Morning Ladies!!!

So, I'm still not feeling 100% better, but I am feeling a little better. I did my weigh in today and I am down 10 pounds. The BAD thing about that is it is all in one week and the flu played a major part in it. So I'm pretty sure I will get a lot of it back when I am feeling better.

I am sorry to hear that. :( Hope you get to feeling better soon though.

I made it to Zumba today, and walked a mile on the treadmill before hand. I did some measurements last Saturday, and redid them today I am down 2 inches in each thigh! Woohoo! And I fit into my skinny jeans this morning. The scale isn't much different but the inches are coming off. I noticed my waist is down an inch, hips 1 3/4" as well.

Need to work on my arms though. And do Pilates tonight and walk another couple of miles after lunch.

Forgot to add: My DH sent me this this am, and thought I would share: Super Foods For Spring It also has recipes to go along with some of them. HTH!

Shannon! So sorry! Yes, if you can maintain half of that off once your body jumps back into working properly, you'll be doing well! Just make sure you give your body the right foods to make the transition!! Hope you're back 100% soon!

I knew I felt like I had lost more, sometimes when I pick up my walking schedule heavy again my body is sore and holds water, so I did a peek weigh in this morning and I'm officially in the 220's!!! :)

Started at 231...so want to hit 221 by May 1st or the first Thursday in May whichever comes first!! I can do this! :)

Now to nap before I start my walking...finished my miles last night at 11:30pm...some days are just soo hectic!

:cheer2: Way to go Tara!!! So proud of you for hitting the 220's!!! I am SOOOO close to getting under 200, but of course with my big water weight loss I will probably be back up in the 210's again soon. I am currently at 202 and would LOVE to keep going down and get under the 200's! Oh how excited I would be!

I want to join in too! I have a big goal before my next trip down to WDW, and I know I'll be more successful if I have a support system behind me :) And you guys seem like a lot of fun too!!

Right now, I want to lose almost 50lbs by September 18th, and get my weight down to 145. I've already made some big life changes like no fried foods and no sodas- not an easy thing to do when that's what you're so used to grabbing when you're hungry!

You ladies have all done so well, I'm so proud of you and to be able to join all of you in this awesome journey!

Hey ladies... I'm in!!!! I have been REALLY struggling with getting going and getting this weight off. I am higher than I have ever been in my life. Ugghh, I actually only popped on here quick for some motivation and I found it quickly!!!

thanks Tara!

I am only going to weigh in on the 1st of the month, I've been playing the "scale" game for a while. meaning if I loose a lot in a week, I figure I can slow down, if I don't loose, I figure what's one more day of overeating??? So in the end no matter what the scale says, I overeat.:sad2:

So, I'm going to go quick weigh myself and then I'll do it on the first of the month.

I'll be back with more info on me and my plan later. DD has a play and I have to drop her off, wait 1 1/2 hours until it starts, so I can take some time and make a plan!
