All right...in a nutshell, I'm a habitual/stress eater and I have found an inner motivator to get it right for good this time.
W.I.S.H. helped me lose 65 pounds about 5 years ago, then we were in a situation where we had 2 house payments for 31 months! I just could not handle the stress other than eating my way out of it...my highest was 265..I am now 231 and am shooting for 10 pounds each month..my lowest in 5 years was 174...my goal is to be anywhere in the 150's...wait and see what my body feels like at that weight and possibly hit 145...but nothing below that...I am 5 foot 7 inches and .75 of another inch..so hey, I like to say I'm 5'8 and with shoes, I always am!
I got my motivation from sticking to a very strict exercise plan...I had planned to walk 4 miles EVERY day on the treadmill for 75 days straight..I know I should have taken a break, but I needed to convince myself I could do it, I made it 68 days then packing for our cruise in March took over and I had my break then...I walked 4 times in the gym on the ship and even lost a pound on our vacation!!! (Disney Wonder to Mexico) So, now I've got my new chart up on the fridge..I want to be at 221 by the first of May, then 211 by the first of June etc...if I can stick to this..I will be at my goal by January 1, 2012...I am 43 years old and celebrate my 20th anniversary next year, we're taking a family cruise on the Fantasy for it and I want to be down and in good shape...
Anyone who wants to commit to a 10 pound a month goal (those like me that have 50+ to lose) come on in....do NOT get discouraged if you don't hit it...figure it out...if you shoot for 10 pounds a month and only get 5...then in a year you would have lost 60 pounds..is that not worth celebrating??
The key for me is portion control, calorie intake and exercise...so I am starting my 75 day walking goal of 25 miles a week..I'll take a day off a week to allow my body to rest, I am shooting for at least 5 days at 1500 calories or less a week....there just always seems to be 1-2 days where I hit 2000 and I don't want to beat myself up about it...but the other day I had 2 chocolate chip cookies and STOPPED!! In the past I would have had 6 throughout the day easily! I only make them when we have company spend the night which is about once a month, so I don't deprive myself but I don't overindulge....
I'm on an 18 month plan (our cruise is in September)...I stay so busy during the week (3 kids and we homeschool, I teach writing classes to 20+ students, I lead a scouting troop, I take the girls to 3 dance classes a week, keep my son going to debate events...and train 2 horses...sooo busy, how did I gain this weight?? Oh, eating on the go!) that I may only be able to post for my weigh ins...but I will try and encourage all that are in the same boat as me...envision your healthy you and claim it!!!

back Tara!!
I have made a commitment to eat WHATEVER I want one day a month, I used to say one day a week, but that would stretch into 2-3..then I'm back to maintaining and not losing...
It sucks! I know I need to do this and I WANT to do this, I just need to get my butt to the gym! I am currently doing weight watchers which has significantly helped with my portion control, but as a Stay at home mom, I am pretty inactive during the day.

I had a couple of days with high sodium/more than 1500 calories so I'm happy with the one pound...I have walked my 4 miles for 2 days in a row now and feel a bit weak, but really motivated once I get on!!
Hope you get to feeling better soon though.
