As I fly out in only a couple of days I have been doing my daily check on my flight times. And wouldn't you know it, Delta has first class for "only" $120 more a person. Subtract off the $25 for a checked bag, and it is really only $95 a person!

Anyone care to talk me in to or out of it? It would be 2 fairly short flights--from Orlando to Atlanta, and then from Atlanta to Grand Rapids, Michigan. I'm flying with my 24 year old nephew, and he doesn't care either way. I'm thinking the bit of extra space is nice, and as we are flying home fairly late, I might have a better chance of dozing off in that larger seat. :D

I don't have any recent *Delta* experience but ...

are you sure it is for both legs of your connecting flight.

I've only flown first class on United and if it is the same as United, ummmm yes!! It is a night a day difference over flying coach. That is worth every penny.

Have you ever seen the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is in First Class and Elaine is in coach....I think that sums up the difference between the two accurately :D

Yes. I typed in my confirmation number and up popped Upgrade to first class for a total of $120".

And do it quick. Those Delta offers to upgrade to 1st disappear quickly! For 2 flights totally worth it IMO.

Do it, and do it quickly. I check for upgrades daily when I've booked coach with Delta, and the upgrade price is usually only good for one day. It may change tomorrow or disappear entirely.

FC is very much worth it on Delta. In addition to bigger seats, free meals and drinks, and free checked bags, your bags are typically the first ones to come off the plane, too. Hope you took advantage of it.

I have been paying for the upgrade lately on DL to enjoy the larger seats and meals/snacks, but my flights are longer than yours. They have been making quite a push to sell more upgrades instead of giving them away for free to Medallions, so I will take advantage of it until they stop offering it.

Your flights are short, so you will not get meals, only the snack basket, but if the slight extra comfort is worth it for the increased cost, go for it! Plus, since you would pay for baggage otherwise, that is a definite benefit.

I disagree with the majority here. Flying first domestically, especially for such short flights is not worth the money. It's just not that great an upgrade. I'd pass.

That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't bother for the Orlando to Atlanta flight. Maybe for the next one.

But first class and me aren't a great fit so far. I'm not tall and the deeper seats mean I can't reach the floor, but domestic seats aren't wide enough for me to bring my legs up and get comfy. And they are slippery lol. $120 extra for that? Nope. Not for me.

I'm guessing you already did this, but make sure you know what planes they are using and that the first class seats really are in first class. Sometimes they use smaller planes for relatively short hops and being in first class only means you're at the front -- maybe in economy class. Otherwise, that's right about my price point. Real first class is lots better than anything else.

Shoot. I just checked and the price did go up a bit. So I think I'm going to stick with our coach seats. They are 2 relatively short flights. Drat.

The segments are tied together. Basically a deal. The only way for her to up-fare ATL->GRR separately would be to call Delta and there's no way she's going to get that $120 price.

All of Delta fleet except the 50 seaters are equipped with actual first class seats.

You have to move quickly when you see a first class upgrade offer from delta that makes sense. It could disappear in a flash.

Saw the same offer on US Air last night for DHs flight this morning. Very surprising.

As someone who often gets free upgrades I would not pay. I'd just buy economy comfort seats at booking Deltas domestic first is not that good
