What is the lowest temp you or someone in your party would swim in?

outside 60, pool water low 70s, these are my kids not me willing to do this.

I've been swimming in unheated ocean water when the outside temperature was in the 50's... been in heated water when the temperature was near freezing.

It's all fine until you get out.

The water would have to be in the 70s. The surrounding air I'd probably like to be in the 80s. At WDW, it has to be reasonably hot before I'll even consider a swim with all the other things I can spend time doing. :)

Also this is my 500th post! :cool2:

Since Disney pools are heated to 82 degrees (from what I hear at least), I'm okay with letting my kids swim as long as it's in the mid to high 60s outside. I'd just make sure to have a nice big towel or cover-up ready when they got out. I probably wouldn't swim myself unless it was in the mid 70s.

On the days where the nights are really cold at WDW, the pool heaters have a hard time keeping up and the water temps dip below 80.

We've been in the pool on a sunny low 70s day, but it was really cooler than I liked it. The things you do for your kids (who don't notice temps like grown-ups).

82 is very cool chilly water. We were just there(WL) , temps in the 70's and water felt cold. Then we went to the Swan, and one of there pools was heated to 95 degrees so even though temps was in the upper 60 ' water was awesome!

We swam with our nephews when it was around 55 degrees. It was so chilly that the life guards had on long pants and coats. It was only a degree above when they close the pools....but worth it for the smiles on the boy's faces!

We tried to swim in 80 degree weather and it was too cold for me lol. Even Disney heated seem cold.

Agreed.

We swam 4 times during the horrible cold snap in December 2010. The coldest of the swimming times was in the evening when it was MAYBE 50 degrees. The water felt amazing. But if you got something wet that then was out of the water (like your neck or an ear) then it was seriously cold. And getting out was flat out painful.

About 5 minutes after you start really swimming or seriously playing around 80+ feels great.

If you try to swim properly or play intensely (like kids tend to do), you'll overheat in 95 degree water.

My brother has to heat his pool to about 95 if his wife wants to swim, but then he canNOT go in it and do more than splash a bit. He's courting heatstroke if he tries to exercise in it once it's above 90! If my awesome sis in law would just SWIM, or do more than paddle around, she would warm up and the low 80s water would feel fine to her.

I've gone to Typhoon Lagoon when it was 68 degrees. The lifeguards were wrapping themselves in towels, stocking caps, heavy jackets and anything else they could find :lmao: It was 92 and I was 12 years old but we had a great time in an empty park and didn't feel cold at all. It was late December right after Xmas and we're from WA State so that's warm to us that time of year :thumbsup2 A few years ago I was at Blizzard Beach when it was in the low 70's with a little breeze and that was fine too. :confused3

We also go in the pools late at night after the parks close(10-12pm) every trip and we usually go the last week of November or the first week or two of December. That first trip in 92 I was in SAB at the Beach Club every night until they closed it a midnight and had a blast with a bunch of other kids :thumbsup2

My DD is on swim team. She swam when it was too cold for the lifeguards. I think it was under 55-degrees. She was crazy!

We have swam in February the last 2 years... My kids had no problem with air temps below 60. Course, I live in Maine, so I have low expectations for "warm!"

Being from the north, I didn't think any temperture would stop me from swimming in a heated pool in November. We were at CSR last week and it was 70 degrees and WOW was the pool cold. It was a quiet pool, which I assume are heated as well, and it was sunny out but it was still freezing. We never went in until it warmed up later in the week.

When we go on ski trips we like to go in the hot tub, get out and roll in the snow and then get back in the hot tub/heated pool. If a pool is heated I would go in it even if it is freezing outside. But I'm Canadian and the lake I grew up swimming in every summer in NW Ontario never gets warm so I'm used to cold water.

I'm a Florida girl, so I won't so much as dip a toe in a pool that's under 84 degrees, and I put on a sweater when the air temp drops below 75.

We stayed at GF in February one year when temps were in the 50s and sat on our balcony in our pea-coats watching people swim. Craziness.

Tempsin the 60's. The pools at WDW are heated so that helps. Although I'm not one to get excited over pools. My gym has a pool and during the warmer months, I can just go to the beach.

Coldest I have done is a 40 degree outside temp in 33 degree water. Well it was not really swimming but an obstacle for Tough Mudder:thumbsup2

Figure if the air temp is high 60's low 70's at minimum I'll go in. If your in the water its okay as I have done cold windy water parks and the water was fine but standing in line or walking was a bit chilly.

We'll be at Wilderness Lodge late next week. My husband and I were just discussing today that if it hits 70, maybe even a bit lower, my 9 year old water baby is going to want to go swimming no matter what. I plan to bring his big fuzzy bathrobe so we can dry him off and get him warm for the walk back to the room.
