I'm looking for some new ideas on how to surprise the kids (ages 7,7,4) with a trip. Will probably tell them a few weeks before our December trip. We've done the big box full of Disney goodies- magic bands, shirts, countdown calendar, etc. Can't wait to see what you all have done!

Oh there are so many fun ways and not a wrong one in the bunch! I've heard of:
* mickey shaped pancakes and you disclose it that way
* cake surprise -- you have the message on your dessert
* scavenger hunt -- tried and true (it's what we are doing this go-round)
* give each kid a piece of the puzzle to put together to figure out they are going or do it via family game night with a hangman answer

I know there are a lot more that I'm just not thinking of. Have fun!

Thanks! Of course I'm wanting whatever will be the biggest surprise. LOL

We've done Mickey shaped cookies and a cake that had "We're going to Disney World!" written on it. We would usually tell them about a month before our trip. The biggest surprise was a couple of years ago when we wrapped each of their magic bands and put them under the Christmas tree as an early gift. They were used to getting an early gift one evening in the week or two before Christmas, but it was usually some trinket or a Christmas mug, puzzle or something like that. They were completely shocked to find the magic band and learn that we were leaving the following morning!

These are great ideas! I normally don't tell mine until we are driving under the sign!

We woke our daughter up really early to catch a flight and told her then. I think she was in shock. I wish I had surprised her with our trip coming up but was too excited.

We did our version of The Elf on the Shelf so he told our then 5 year old the year we went for New Years. It was a last minute trip and we told him just after we decided, just wanted a fun way to do it. Now this was my kid that did NOT believe in Santa, but totally believed that Elf was real! Buddy left shirts and a kids guide book and a few surprises.
