tell me your favorite afforable table service restaurants

Sanaa. And it's right there at AKL, albeit at Kidani. Still, it's one of the better experiences at Disney and, generally, moderately priced (Disney standards, of course).

Most anywhere is less expensive if you order apps and perhaps an entree to share with the table. Paired with dessert, it makes for a less pricey meal and the portion sizes aren't ridiculously huge. You also get the benefit of some places with great atmosphere and service. I have found that in many restaurants around WDW, the apps are the best dishes on the menu.

Some of our favorite places to get sharable meals:
Tokyo Dining (sushi and tempura or edamame)
La Hacienda (we like to get one Parrillada del Mar for 2 and some queso or guacamole & chips for the table, it is plenty of food)
Via Napoli (share a pizza and salad with the table)

and at AKL:
Sanaa (the bread service, the salad sampler, the meat trio, and a dessert makes a less expensive but delicious meal. My family of 4--with 2 teenage boys!--has this and it is plenty of food!)

I'll second the Plaza--my 8 yo son and I ate there a couple weeks ago, after not having been in about 10 years, and he loved it! I loved the price--total of $44, including tip--and my son got a milkshake in addition to his meal.

@NYCgrrl DDs ordered sesame chicken and weren't wowed. We got Bao bun app. I got Kung Pao chicken and it was ok. Can't recall what DH got. We are big Asian food eaters and this place was just meh. It was also very busy and crowded and we had a wait to be seated and there was a line a mile long to go to the restroom. Nearly peed my pants while waiting in that line. Service was not good either. Slow..took a year to take our orders and never got drink refills. It was Dec 30th and busy overall at WDW.

Like many others, we like the Wave. It's very relaxing and it's fun to walk around the Contemporary. They have nice seating areas and great gift shops to poke through.

At Epcot, we like Via Napoli

That explains why our experiences were completely different. We went during a slow week at the beginning of March. Hardly anyone in the restaurant and our server was great.

We liked Nine Dragons. I know it doesn't get rave reviews, but we really enjoyed it. Olivia's at Old Key West is also fairly inexpensive, for Disney.

I'm in the process of reevaluating this restaurant having heard good of it's version of some traditional regional dishes like salt and pepper shrimp, and slow cooked pork belly, both dishes not found on typical takeout joints' menu. Also seems to be easy to get ADRs for large and small parties.
My first and only to date experience w/ Chinese food at Epcot was spring or egg rolls courtesy of a food truck outside the China Pavilion; really really bad and we threw them in the garbage after one or two bites.

We LOVE 9 Dragons! Discovered it a few trips ago and it's ALMOST a must-do (if we have time after our OTHER must-do's)

I get the salt and pepper shrimp over the garlic spinach noodles, and DH gets the shrimp typhoon or something?

Love it!

OP - I vote Trails End..

Last time DH had the Nine Dragons fried rice (Allears has a picture of it) and raved about it. I had a taste and loved it. I had the LoMein and although it was OK, I agreed that next time I'll also get the Nine Dragons fried rice.

We usually do The Plaza for lunch as our TS in MK. The strawberry chicken salad is wonderful. And for just a few $ more than you'd pay for a QS, it is quite affordable by Disney standards.
And in Epcot, Via Napoli is a great choice as you can share a pizza and get out pretty cheap.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. It is very affordable by Disney standards, the food (at least at breakfast) is good, and the theatrics - ask for ketchup or a refill on your drink ;-) - are great.

We ate at LTT last month and enjoyed it. Had a 3:30 ADR but that worked out well - had a light breakfast and after our afternoon meal we didn't have to eat for the rest of the day; it also wasn't overly crowded then, despite the parade. There were six adults in our party and we all thought the meal was good, especially the salad, warm rolls and butter, potatoes, turkey and cookie/ice cream/toffee dessert. We've eaten there several times before and we haven't had a bad meal yet. (I know it's not super popular on these boards.)

Definitely do the Boma breakfast at AKL! We did it twice this time - so good. Again, it's filling, and I think we just had something light for dinner both times. So figure that into your budget, too.

Tip: We like getting Disney gift cards to use for food if we're not using the Dining Plan. It's nice to not have to worry about the OOP cost when you have the pre-paid cards to use.

Plaza for sure, and agree about Grand Floridian Cafe. But surprised no one has mentioned Spice Road Table. It’s not terribly exotic, you can eat inside or out (depending on weather) and it’s very reasonably priced. We go practically every trip!

we went to 9 Dragons recently and it was not great. we won't go again.

Nine Dragons is my favorite at Epcot. I haven’t had the issues you did with service, but I usually don’t visit Disney during peak season.

I like to go there for a light lunch, so I get the General Tso buns from the appetizer menu and a side of fried rice, which has always been prepared very well.

I did.

The Wave is a new fave of ours. We like Yak and Yeti at AK as we can share a couple apps if we want light meal or cheaper. Beaches and Cream at Beach Club. House of Blues at DS. Via Napoli is a good choice at Epcot though we weren't in love with the pizza. We like to do Spice Road small plates to share but if you get entres there it can be pricey. Hollywood studios would be Sci Fi.
Spice Road

The Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary is quick service but has great options that are really good! Take the boat ride over to the Wilderness Lodge and try Geyser Creek.

Yak & Yeti at AK has some reasonably priced food. At Epcot I'd think about Rose & Crown for lunch--not our absolute favorite but pretty fun and reasonably priced.

If you decide to go to Disney Springs consider Splitsville. Decent food and fun atmosphere with no need to be near the bowling if you don't wish to.

So many recommendations for The Wave! I've never been but my curiosity is peaked; what's the draw?
