We are heading down to Venore Tn. in Aug for a wedding. Friends daughter is getting married near the Bald River falls. Looks so beautiful in pictures. So excited.:yay: Heading down a few days early. Never been to Tenn. so looking to find some of the must see/do things. Booked a great Cabin on the Tellico River. Hoping my kids will be willing to do a tube float.(I know they will never do a white water raft)

Thanks in advance!!!!

I grew up in this area. There's not much in Vonore, but you are close to Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, etc.

There's not a tube float on the Tellico, but it's just a short drive up to Townsend to River Rage Tubing. Don't let the "Rage" scare you! If you are in an inner tube, the water isn't rough!

It's hot up in TN in August, so you might be interested in doing a cave tour at The Lost Sea in Sweetwater. It's a fun tour, and it's a nice break from the heat!

And if you are looking for a big day of fun, you could visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge! It's a great park with some great rides!

It's beautiful there, and there's stuff to do on Loudon lake, too, if you are just looking for something quiet. I love GA, but I love TN, too. GA is just closer to WDW! ;)

I have only heard how beautiful Tenn.is. We just want to have a relaxing fun time. doing some outdoors stuff. Something different this year. Usually in the summer we spend time at the Jersey and Md. Shore or the pocono's in Pa. So can't wait to go. Really looking forward to it.

Writing everything you said down.so I don't forget!!!!

We are doing Disney Jersey week so that will be the busy trip.lol

We didn't find much of anything to do in Vonore, but we did go white water rafting on the Ocoee River - maybe a 45 minute drive. It was a wonderful experience!!

Such a surprise to look on the CB and see someone coming to Vonore TN! lol Not sure what is in Vonore. I've been through there on my way to WDW by car.

If I was planning to do things here I'd probably do the wedding stuff in Vonore and then head to Townsend to visit the Smokies. You can easily go to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg from there if you want to do things there or just stay in Townsend and visit Cades Coves, hike, tube the Little River, visit the Tuckaleechee Caverns, and take it easy.

All the wedding is at Bald River fall and the reception is at the home Heading in the Wed. before the wedding to see some of Tenn. they keep telling us how beautiful it is. My husbands Best friend bought land there to buid a house to retire to in a few years. His daughter moved with her soon to be husband last year.

We love that area. You are about 1.5 hours from Gatlinburg and about an hour or so from DH's favorite stretch of road. (NOT for the faint of heart)

Thanks so much for al the info. So excited to do something different this summer!!!!!

Well, be careful...I'm from Beach Haven on LBI...TN won our hearts years ago and as much as I love the Island and will always treasure the opportunity to have grown up and lived there and have family history there--I have never looked back. TN has been a wonderful place to live.

When I was a little girl there was a famous song that said,"Don't let Smoky Mountain smoke get in your eyes...if you do, I'm telling you...You'll want to live there the rest of your life, if Smoky Mountain smoke gets in your eyes." Don't say I didn't warn you. :)

We enjoyed The Lost Sea with our kids.
That area of Tennessee is beautiful! My husband and I talk about retiring to Eastern Tennessee one day.

I think my husband is hoping for this. He keeps saying "I know you love NJ but I thinks it's time to leave" I do love NJ but this Jersey girl doesn't likee what NJ has become.
