tell me what dr to see next

Nope. Most of the GERD is when your stomach has no food. That really kicks up the acid.

I am sitting here in pain as we speak. It freaks me out. My reflux is pretty bad right now.

It is like am I haing heart issues or am I having a reflux problem. I hate this.:headache:

Ahh - I didn't have a clue - so maybe I should try some over the counter gerd meds. HMMM I'll be googling that in the mean time.

But YEP I feel your pain (literally)

Yep a man - 2 actually - I don't even know that there are women cards here - this group has like 15 docs but I think all men

NO, not just an EKG - cause I had the echo & stress one done too - they just weren't done the most recently

You said they were done like 2 years ago, right? A lot can change in 2 years.

Best of luck in getting to the bottom of your problem. Hope you find an answer. I had an adoptive aunt that passed away from a heart attack around 5 years ago. She was complaining of vague pains, in particular in her mouth and back, two weeks before the event. Not typical thought of heart attack warning signs.

I have plaque, a calcium score, in an artery. That means I'm high risk for a heart attack. Because of that i follow a heart attack prevention program. Thought to mention, you might pick up an idea at this sight, which is written by a cardiologist, on what could be causing your chest pains and how to prevent an event.

Are you KIDDING me?!?!?!?

I am a NP (cardiology) and if you were in my office I would do everything they did for you but if everything came up neg I would send you for a cardiac cath.

The last time you went to the cardiologist had you already had the pain at rest?

BTW yes the ultrasound of the heart is an Echo, and the EKG/ECG is the test with the wires.

Women present with completely weird (not saying yours are) "heart" pains.

With women I don't mess around. If all the testing (even the cardiac cath) came up clean then we would go elsewhere to find the pain. I am not trying to scare you but I am just concerned with the pain "at rest", no matter how infrequent. Do you have high blood pressure? Did they start you on any new meds?

I hope you feel better soon. Please keep us posted.

Yes, this. This is what I was really thinking but figured you had done the right thing by seeing a cardiologist. But as several others have pointed out, first that was several years ago, and second, women present differently than men with heart issues. An EMT who used to work at my office told me something once I'll never forget. She said men's cardiac symptoms are more straight-forward pain "here" or pain "there". Women tend to just say "I feel weird, just don't feel right", much more vague complaints.

I guess since that's been known for a long time I figured male doctors would be more attuned to that, and I'm sure many are! But it probably is a good idea if you see card again!

There is a condition that is basically arthritis in your sternum that causes heart attack type pain and I have been trying to remember the name of it all morning and it isn't coming to me. I think it would be worth at trip to an orthopedic dr to have any bone/muscle issues evaluated as a possible cause.
