I hate when people pull the rug from under your feet and outbid you at the last minute.

I'm one of those who bids at the last minute. :teeth:

That's the way to do it actually. Bid at the very last minute and keep hitting "refresh" on your computer until the auction ends. I win 98% of the auctions I bid on that way.

Methinks you already know the best one. ;)

Snipingly yours,

flaps

When you set your bid, put in the highest amount you are willing to pay for an item. That way, ebay will bid for you in small increments, and you won't have to worry about it.

You can also wait until the last 2 mintues of bidding and put in a bid like I mentioned above. Anyone else putting in a bid will be bidding against you and you will automatically outbid them!

Good luck!

DA, that is what I am doing right now....and I'm not telling you what I am bidding on...LOL.

www.esnipe.com

This way, you don't get into a bidding war and end up buying something for more than you're willing to spend :)

If there is a particular item that you are looking for just go to the completed auctions and search to find out what the item is currently selling for. "Sniping" doesn't really win you an auction, it all depends on how much a buyer is willing to spend. Some buyers are willing to pay more in the last few seconds of the auctions, others do it early on in the auction. Just bid the most that you want to pay for the item and let the auction run its course. If you still keep getting outbid, then up your bid on a future auction.

Good luck!

I did not know that you could set it up to whatever amount is the max you are willing to pay and ebay will do the bidding for you. But anyway , I won the bid!!!!! Yay, now my daughter has a flute and I can forget about it for the summer!!!!!
Thanks for the suggestions though.

So YOU'RE THE ONE! LOL! ;)

That does drive me rather nuts, however, I've learned that if that's the way to play, I'd better learn to do the same I guess.

That's me too, I never bid before the very end. Works most of the time for me too. I'm sure I have ticked a lot of people off, but that's the way to win what you want LOL.

Glad to hear she got her flute... I thought you were going to go with www.wwbw.com. I need to find an oboe, and they aren't cheap so matter how you look at it.

As for the bidding, the two methods are wonderful. Either snipe or put in the max bid.

Pretty much sniping is the way to win.

Sniping may win you more auctions, but personally I find it stressful and time consuming. It's also easy to get emotional and bid more than you wish. I just enter the max I'm willing to pay and let EBay do the rest. That way if I win, good; if I don't, that's life and I didn't want to pay that much anyhow.

I'm with Rachel on this, especially since I've been burned by getting emotional with an item. I finally joined EA (Ebayers Anonymous) and don't do that anymore. Last month, I wanted to buy some Jerry Garcia neckties and I set an max amount for everyone I bid on. Some I lost, but some I won and ended up getting good deals because of it.
