for your 2-year-old in WDW.

I have 2 months to go, but since I booked this trip as far out as I could muster, it seems like it's getting close! Our youngest will be just 2 at the time of the trip, and I THINK I've thought of all the necessities.

What's the one thing you used most or were most glad you had for your 2-year-old in Disney? :goodvibes

(I have a new Mac I love, so that's covered!)

A sling or some sort of carrier for when you are in line and the 2 year old wants to be held. Believe me, this saved my back last trip when she only wanted to be carried by me.

My DD has a special blanket and I would have to bring it. It would be hard enough to sleep in a strange place but she wouldn't sleep without it.

Other than that we have the small size magna doodles. They are about $5 and fit in my purse. They keeps my girls quiet for a while.

If you have any TS meals...things to 'occupy' her while waiting. I forgot that last year when my dd was just two and she is NOT a very patient restaurant-eater. How about some pens/crayons and paper to mark on - This year I bought a dollar store calculator to let her play with. These might also help out in lines.

WHile waiting for others on rides(that she was too little to do)- penny pressing seemed to get my dd's interest - it only costs 51 cents and looking for a machine and then doing it would usually take enough time to keep her happy and having fun during the wait.

Have fun!

A few tiny tubs of playdoh. I think you can find them at a party store. Grab one or two with you before heading out and it's a great alterntive to crayons/coloring and something to fiddle with while in line. If you choose, you can toss it at the end of your day or carry it for another!

At least one change of clothing for our dd -- she was dirty or wet (from the water play areas) almost the entire time!!!

Hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, and I bought a pack of cheap bathcloths from the dollar store (like 10 or 12 for $1 -2) for real clean-ups. Cheap enough just to throw them away once you use them.

Also a nylon velcro lunch bag (shaped like a brown paper lunch bag) and ziploc bags are handy for left-over chicken strips, french fries, etc. Our boys never finished a meal when they were little, but 20 minutes later wanted more. Now, however, they do finish and still want more. :lmao:

5 Days til we're back at Fort Wilderness and WDW!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

More than two pairs of shoes. Or flip flops for the water jets!

tylenol and a thermometer!
band-aids
purell - lots of it!
wipes - lots and lots and lots of them!

for us it was our stroller and diaper bag backpack. The only thing we left in the stroller was a blanket, her monkey harness and the rain cover for the stroller. In the backpack, I had a change of clothes, her pull-ups, wipes, a hat, sunscreen, a couple of capri suns, a few snacks, a few dinner packs that I made at home ( it was a toss and go cup filled with a throw away placemat, toss and go spoon and fork, a toss away bib, and a few handi wipes..that way I had everything I needed for a meal and I could toss them when I was done... I did keep the cup and utensils)

we also had her autograph book and pen and a few toys including glow necklaces....

hand sanitizer, laundry soap & stain stick, an extra copy or two of any favorite comfort item (DS loved his pacifiers and DD had her stuffed Ducks -- 4 copies of the same stuffed duck so we always had one clean), baby decongestant & baby Tylenol, disposable sippy cups.

Enjoy your trip!

Something to keep her busy at TS meals, crayons, also, a necessity, wet wipes or hand gel.

SUNSCREEN!!!!!!!!! The best for my almost 2 year old dd's face is the Coppertone Babies Stick for the face--it doesn't drip in her eyes and goes on FAST!

Even though you'll be here in December the Florida sun is STRONG--remember to protect your little ones sensitive skin!

Breastmilk!! :rotfl:

Nursing helped us fend off any two-year old tantrums in nothing flat. It was great! We didn't have one melt down the whole trip. I miss those days. It was so easy . . .

Other than that, handiwipes, cheerios, Table Toppers disposable placemats, and a hip carrier. (When he was younger than two, I would have said our sling, since he practically lived in it.)

We're just back from a great trip with DS 2.5.

1. hat and sunglasses
2. clorox wipes in the travel pouch and antibacterial wet-ones in the travel pouch
3. stroller
4. (last but not least...not a "thing" per se...) awareness that he is two and needs to stick to a nap and sleep schedule. We stretched it two nights for Fantasmic and MNSSHP and carefully built in extra rest time around those late nights. On a 7 day trip we only had one meltdown, so I'm calling it a very successful trip :thumbsup2

Just went 3 wks ago with a 2.75 year old. I would bring some children's medications: I brought children's tylenol, motrin, bandaids, antiseptic, clariton and a decongestent. I was glad I did b/c she got sick on our 5th night there with a fever. I think she was just run down from going, going, going. We took her back for naps daily, but she was really cranky and tired anyways in the evenings. I have a high maintenance one anyways! :thumbsup2

You might want to consider a double stroller. My DGS was 6 on the last two trips and needed the stroller by late afternoon or early evening many days we were there (and it's handy for carrying all the extra junk you'll want to have along). For the 2 yo -- esp with 2 others to keep an eye on, you might consider a harness/leash for part of the time, esp when you're in crowded areas. WDW is overwhelming, and it's easy to get distracted. A couple of people may look at you funny, but it's much better to have the safety and security of hanging onto your child than to lose track even for a few seconds (we used one when DGS was 13 mos -- he was/is very adventurous and fast). You can read through the hints and tips about going with kids to get lots of good ideas -- how to "mark" them with your cell phone number, etc.
Remember extra $1.00 ponchos for everyone, and for the stroller.
The most important thing is probably "patience" --knowing you can't do it all, and it's better to go at the pace of the youngest in the group. Keep a journal to help with planning for your next trip.

This hasn't been mentioned so I'll throw this in. Since our DS2 isn't able to say our names and remember a phone number we had him wear an ID necklace at all times. (Our DD5 wore one as well just to be sure although she knows our full names and #) The situation never came up that he got separated but better to be safe than sorry. It had his name, our resort, and our cell phone# on it. The engraving wasn't big enough for others to read but it was noticable enough that a CM would be able to contact us. He also wore his sunglasses a majority of the time. I don't know how your little one feels about things on their face, but it doesn't hurt to try them out. It gets pretty bright in certain areas. Oh and have a magical time!
