since I have booked a stay there for 8 days in August:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

what are the pro's and con's of the hotel....

Love the beds.
Love the staff.
Love the grounds!

The only con I can think of is that at the end of a long day, even though it is only maybe 2 minutes longer than the motels right across the street, the walk can sometimes hurt me.

We stayed there in '07 and are staying tere again in Apirl - it is clean, big rooms with great views (if you ask for DL view) and great rates! It's a 7 min walk to the gates! Loved it!!

Really liked the staff and the grounds, but it does seem to be a little ways coming home from the park. My DD8 could barely walk back. Of course, that has a lot to do with how much the parents keep them at the park! We would get muffins and milk from the little store each night for the next morning. The pool was fine, but we honestly didn't spend much time in it. The Captains Cove (?) wasn't done when we went last year, but that looks fun.

All in all, we must have really liked it because we are going back and staying at HOJOs again. It's nice to have peace of mind that you aren't going to have to put up with any shenanigans from the staff. You'll love it.

No cons really except for that extra 2-3 min walk. Wish it were directly across the crosswalk.

Pros: Wonderful staff, love the soft beds, nice room, Splash Cove area was a big hit with my kids and they are older. I am always amazed by how quiet it is. Very well built so we've never heard anyone in the halls or next door. Beautiful grounds. Also love the $59 ent. rate.

I'm hoping they will add dates for March. I need the 17th and 18th.

Try to avoid the upper floor rooms in Building 1 on the NE side of the building. They can be pretty darn noisy due to freeway noise.

Other than that, I can't think of a single con. It's my favorite DLR area hotel (I like it even more than the resort hotels).

Hard to say anything bad about this place. Outside of the Annabella, it is the only other off-site place we like to stay. The walk down (Harbor?) is a little scary sometimes, I always worry about these cars coming down at 60mph+ losing control and jumping the curb, so I make my kids walk far off the street because you just never know.

The hotel, staff, room, nearby places to eat, location and theme are all great. Some hotels just plopped up to cash in on Disney without giving you much more for it, however it seems at HoJo's they care about your Disney experience and have done a little extra to make it better than the rest.

In about 12 stays or so at that particular HoJo's, we have never had one complaint. You definitely picked a great place to stay.

I love the staff, the oversized rooms, the grounds and the new pool area looks awesome. I also love the store they have there and the proximity to Mimi's which is an awesome restaurant. Oh and the views of DL from around the resort are wonderful. Last but not least, the Entertainment rate and good rates in general are amazing.

Only cons are a few noisy rooms near the highway and the walk can be a bummer at night. I think with me, its just that once we stayed at the crosswalk, it was sometimes sad to walk by one of those places on our way to the Hojo. But once there we were glad we had walked the extra five minutes or so.

Nothing bad to say about HOJO's...love the place, love the service.
EVen the walk wasn't too bad at the end of a long day.

Pros: Entertainment rate, upgraded bed and bedding in NQQ2 rooms, fridge and micro in those rooms and the rooms are large, 2 pool/play areas, beautiful grounds, great staff.

Cons: no hot tub next to Garden pool, no pool next to water play area/hot tub

But... to me the cons are very small compared to the pros. A hot tub near the garden pool would have been really, really nice because our kids loved the pool and it was too cold for me. :sad2:

Pros: Room was nice and big. Liked the safe and having a balcony.

Cons: Longer walk (more then 2 minutes from what we saw, but not too long). Noise was also a con for us. I'd stay in one of the more quiet buildings, and not in Building 1 if you can help it.

We loved the staff!! The hotel was outstanding for its price range and very, very accomodating. The only 2 cons for me would be the location (didn't like walking back at night, not because of the distance) and the fact that I'm used to staying at a resort hotel. Even though Hojo has plenty of amenities, they are budget (formica counters, plastic cups, basic shampoo etc). That's not a negative in the sense that it allows them to give you the awesome entertainment rate! ...it just makes it harder when you're used to the other. I will say, though, that their beds are amazing. So, so comfortable.

Really, for me it mostly boils down to the fact that I don't really like staying offsite. I don't like "leaving" the magic. I hate Harbor Blvd. But when budget is an issue...and for most of us it is at some point...then Hojos is an outstanding choice!!!

I was wondering the same thing. We want to go back in July just my husband and I and I want the Ent. rate.

Is is possible to get the discounted entertainment book rate in the summer?

I just booked for mid-June and I got it. It was available for 3 or 4 of my 5 night stay. She said they'll probably release the fifth night too, and that when I check in, they'll just upgrade the rate.

Best things? Entertainment Rate and excellent customer service.

Worst things? The in-room coffee and toiletries.

That being said, it is a great hotel. Rooms are spacious, comfy and clean. You cannot beat it for the price with the entertainment rate.

Thinking of staying there for my upcoming trip. I've never been to Disneyland so this might be a silly question, but how "safe" is the walk back to the hotel? I'm not talking about car accidents, I mean getting mugged or whatever if I'm walking back to the hotel at midnight on a Saturday. Are the cars relatively safe in the parking lot to be left overnight/all day long?

Here is link from their website that say when the Ent. rates are available:

Check back often if your dates aren't there as they add dates often. You also need to be sure to call IN HOUSE reservations, not the 800 number. Central reservations know nothing about the ent. card rate. You need to be sure to speak with someone directly at the Anaheim HOJO. :thumbsup2

Pro: :cheer2: The staff. HoJo's doesn't officially have concierge service, but with the way the staff treats you, you'd never know it!

:cheer2: The little gift shop carries fresh fruit and milk. You can also buy things like individual cereal bowls and spoons if you need them!

:cheer2: Every room has a mini-fridge. Fridge swaps at WDW sounded good to me until I participated in one. Hooray for the mini-fridge!

:cheer2: The grounds were beautiful and clean, as was our room. I'll have to add, our room was quiet, too. They don't have those self-closing doors that some hotels have now...the ones that slam themselves every time someone comes or goes. We may have been very lucky, but our room was very quiet.

Con: :guilty: As everyone else said, at the end of a long day, the walk back seems twice as long as the walk there was. Sadly, the ART only runs until half an hour after the park closes. And, they take a couple hour lunch break, so using it for a midday break, don't.

My plans for our upcoming trip will depend on the closing time. If it's late, like it was last time we were there, I'll probably buy ART passes and use them most nights. On others we'll take the monorail to DTD and have a late dinner...then take a cab back to HoJos.

:guilty: Again, with the ART. Don't use it to get to the park on a MM. We tried last time. It doesn't start early enough, and there were two stops...both a fair distance away from the park...before we circled back to actually go to DLR. We ended up missing out on all but about 15 minutes of our extra time!

Best Things??? Ent. Rate. Great Customer Service close to Disneyland room size comfy beds the water area (although we didn't use it in Nov. Just Hubby and I went on that trip)

Worst?? Like everyone said it seems like a quick walk to Disneyland in the morning, but after a day at the Park it seems to take a bit longer to walk back. I think it's just cuz we are all tired and ready to get back to our room. But to me it's worth that extra two minutes. I can't wait to take my kids there in May!!:thumbsup2
