Tell me something I don't know about POP!

Thanks Linda. You've always got such great info! I think we should be crowing you the POP Queen! princess:

I didn't mean to cause a panic. Yes they come on land sometimes (though I've never seen one out of water at Disney). Just don't mess with them and they won't mess with you. A cast member told me that once they hit a size that makes folks uncomfortable (4-5 feet), they have them relocated.

It's Florida - where there's water, there's alligators, even at WDW. But I think they're mighty groovy to see.

It's my first time posting here–great information!! As for the alligators, I think my DD6 will love to see one (from a bit of a distance anyway!!). We'll have to remember to look!

Did you do this? I had asked about walking from POP to CBR before our last trip and was told by several others that there was no way to do it. Someone said they tried and weren't able to find a way.

I haven't been back to this thread in a while, so I never answered this question. Maybe someone else did.

To get to CBR you must walk to the back of the 50's parking lot. I mean the area near the unfinished buildings. You walk up the hill that surrounds the parking lot. There you can see the service access roads and where they intersect. Cross the intersection and you will see CBR on your left. Do this early in the morning before the traffic picks up. There are no shoulders or sidewalks. Be careful..

I have done it a few times. I discovered it when I was staying at CBR and I could see the bowling pin icons in the distant. I run in the morning and I had to go see those icons up close.

I am all for the alligators. Its their home, not ours and they have every right to be there. I hope I get to see some!

Anyone else got some piece of cool info about POP?

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Pop. Here's a few things that I didn't see mentioned:
At about 5:00 every day they have bowling in the lobby for kids. They use a huge oversized inflatable set and the kids get a certificate and prize. It was the highlight of the trip for my DD.

At about 6:30 every evening they have the Peace, Love, and Everything Pop parade. They meet in the food court, near the gift shop, and parade through the lobby. They hand out musical instruments to the kids, who get a certificate and prize at the end.

There is a kiddie pool behind the hippy dippy pool - not really a secret, but we didn't find it until our 6th day!

There is a nice playground sort of between the food court and the big-wheel building. Again not really a secret, but great for little kids.

Near the 70's building there are tons of bunnies and ducks, whole families of ducks walking... really cute!

The papers from the bakery section of the food court are decorated real cute. I brought a bunch home for scrapbooking. There's also real cute little paper sacks in the bakery area at the Sunshine seasons food court in Epcot.

The busses are actually very efficient. The lines are also indicative of the crowd levels in the park. By our 5th day we had thrown my well-thought-out plan out the window and we got in the shortest bus line, it always led to an un-crowded park. Whereas the longest line meant long lines and huge crowds at that park.

The concierge line moves very, very, very slow. We found it faster to go to Town Hall at the MK to have our problem fixed rather than wait at our hotel.

Welcome back and glad to hear you had a wonderful trip! Thanks for the information about the bowling and the parade!:thumbsup2 That sounds like a lot of fun! I think my 4 year old dd would really like that! We'll try to make it to those! Good to know about the bus lines and glad they were efficient! BTW, did you get any towel animals while you were there?

I have loved going through all of these tips. We're on our way to Disney in a a few days and while we're stay at the Swan for most the trip, we are trying out the POP for one night. We've never been and wanted to see if we'd like it for future trips. I must say, after reading all the reviews and tips for the POP, I can't wait to stay....now I just wish we had more time there.

The bowling was great for my DD4 after her nap but while DS2 was still napping. It turned into something special she got to do after naps, which helped get her to sleep faster.

We got a towel dog when we arrived, never saw anything else. We met our maid and attempted to speak with her on several occasions. She was from Haiti and spoke to us in perfect english but every time we tried to answer her questions or talk to her she looked at us very confused and told us she didn't speak English, only Creole.

This thread is making me even more excited about our trip to Pop in August!!

I heard you can get tye-dyed cheesecake and bread at POP. Is that still true?
Is it in the food court?

So now I'm jealous. We go in 13 days and are staying at All Star Movies.. but now I'm almost wishing we were staying at pop century instead. my son would have a blast with all the dancing and bowling and parade. wonder if it's too late to change ?

Yes, the cheesecake is available at the food court and is pretty yummy - definitely FUN! I've never had the bread myself but remember seeing it - I believe in the refrigerated cases - maybe pre-made sandwiches?

wE WERE ON THE GROUND FLOOR IN THE 50'S EVERY MORNING WE HAVE DUCKS AND THE EVENING WE HAD BUNNIES. One morning a duck even followed my daughter in our room!!! But quickly went back out. It was a magical begining to our first morning!!!! I liked the breakfast veggie quiche excellent!!!!!

I am not planning on being in the resort during the day, so we would miss all the parades and dancing and stuff anyway--I don't know about you.

ASMovies is great too. We stayed there last year and my kids loved it. The huge Icons are so cool-Woody, Buzz, Herbie, Dalmations, and more! Very Disney, very cute.

Thanks for the heads up about the ducks and bunnies! My girls will love looking for them! Must try that cheesecake even though I've heard it dyes your tongue! :lmao:

After midnight, the giant Moglie and Bleu come to life and go swimming in the Hippie Dippie Pool. They are over 40 foot so they can't fit in the pool, they just soak their feet.
