I woke up sick :( I have crazy aches and bad sinuses with a small fever. I'm taking a day to lay here and do nothing so hopefully I get better soon! I arrive at Disney on the 22nd and there's still so much to do so I'm trying to force myself to lay down to get better faster!

Please help me pass the time! Tell me something great that you love about Disney world!! Either your favorite park and why or even a can't miss thing for you that isn't a ride (or a ride but tell me why lol)

Thank you!!!

And go.... ;)

So sorry you are not feeling well. :-( Hope you get better really soon.

I will tell you my favorite thing about Disney is not a ride. It's not anything you can see, touch or do. It's just being there. I know it's crazy, but I really do feel from the moment that I walk on Disney property that magic is real and anything can come true. It's a prevailing feeling, and a warm feeling and no matter how blue I am or how depressed or what else is going on in my life - for a limited time while I am there - none of it matters. All the worlds problems are just not and for a time I am as content and at peace as I can be and that no matter what else might be bugging me, it will all work out because it can.

Call me crazy, but that's how I feel. It's where I went when I got divorced. It's where I went when my father died, and it's where I will go the next big horrible thing in my life. And it always will be, and I will always feel better while I am there and move on when I leave.

Disney is a place where I go to heal.

So go - get healed!

Wow thank you for that!! And I totally agree with you! I just got my degree in IT and can't find a job at all and my student loans start up in a couple months!! Total stress!! We have been saving for this trip for two years so while most would think its crazy to spend that much money when I'm already struggling. I am like you. I need it. I need that stress free magical week.

So hopefully it heals me :)

Thanks again!!

Well, I'll be arriving on the 24th so if you see me, wave!

My DD (at left, with Pluto) just graduated in May with a degree in accounting and is currently working at the mall for minimum wage. She's not too impressed with some of her co-workers (one of them couldn't figure out how to put a broom together) but I keep telling her "that's why they'll always be working for minimum wage and you won't." Our state is one of the worst for unemployment but she's sending in as many applications as she can.

Don't lose hope! One of these days it will happen! :cheer2:

I agree with TiggerBouncy. We have been going to Disney every year since our DD was 5. Of course, over the years the way we tour the parks and our dining reservations have slowly changed. We no longer stand in long lines to meet characters or go to character meals because our DD is now 15 and has other interests in and around the parks. For the brief time we are in Disney as a family and have time to walk around and discover new things, you truly feel the magic that only Disney can provide. We just returned in August from 15 days in The World. We have been thinking of going to another location for our vacation next year. Maybe it's because I knew we wouldn't be back next year or maybe it's the fact I wanted to take some extra time to take in the things that tend to get overlooked, but there are so many things that make Disney so special!! From the moment you check in to your resort and hear "Welcome Home", to walking down Main Street and seeing The Castle for the first time, to eating all the wonderful food throughout The World, there are so many different things that could make Disney special to you.

It's hard to describe the feeling you get to someone who has never been. Somehow at times you feel like you are the only one there and each moment is escpecially for you. I don't believe there is another place like it. Even if we don't get to go back next year, it will make our next visit that much more exciting.

So when I am feeling a little down and need a pick-me-up, I will grab my pictures and think of the fun we had that day. I will try to remember the wonderful smells, rides, food, shows, fireworks and friendly faces that keep us coming back year after year. Hope you feel better soon and enjoy your upcoming trip!!!

How bout I give you a laugh instead? My family was just reminiscing about this the other day. Years ago you used to be able to look for paintbrushes at Tom Sayers island. They were hidden there by cast members and if you managed to get on one of the first boats of the day you could try your luck at finding one. If you happened to be lucky enough to get one you could turn it into the CM and they would give you a FP for btmr or splash. Well... We never were successful with that, but I had mentioned it to my family not thinking anything about it. Fast forward a few days later and we are at Typhoon Lagoon. We split up for a bit. I took the little kids while dh went to ride some thrill rides. Next thing I know dh comes running toward with me holding a paintbrush. Lol. I was like what on earth are you doing? He was so excited he had found one. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was probably just left there by some random person. Lol. Sure enough he found a CM who looked at him as if he were from Mars and thanked him for returning what was obviously left behind by the painters. Bahahahahaha.

I hope you feel better soon!

I love Disney's little details. We were there last week to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I let the CM now when I booked the reservation. When we got there a CM was waiting for them with balloons that read Happy Anniversary, we had a message on the phone by Mickey singing Happy Anniversary to them, and the following day there was an authographed picture of Mickey congratulating them again!

They also got buttons, of course! So one day as we were walking on World Showcase a CM saw the buttons and asked "Is it really 50 years?" that began a nice conversation about how they managed to last this long, and she finally asked for their last name and shouted out "Hey, everybody, these are my new friends the **** and they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary". Everybody nearby applauded and cheered.

You have no idea how happy all of these made them :lovestruc

Yes I have been there quite a bit. More than five less than ten. Definitely more than most people I know and it's always hard to explain to the people I know how great it is but it makes me feel so blessed and so lucky that I have experienced Disney since I was little. My mom keeps saying this is her last trip BUT she said it last time too. So it's hard to stay away from the Happiest Place on Earth lol :)

We laugh about it from time to time now. It's one of our funniest memories. If you could just see the look of excitement on his face at finding that paintbrush. Lol. He was waiting in line for something and just saw it laying there. Lol. I laughed at the thought of the painter going back to find his brush and it being gone. Lol. Poor Dh. He was a little disappointed, but at least I can say he was trying to get into the Disney magic!!!!
