We are travelling down in Nov and had decided against the christmas party for the various reasons.

1) Snow on Main st, well we are from Northern Ontario Canada, I will have enough snow in my winter... do i really need it in Disney

2) Last year we went to the Halloween Party and our 2 1/2 year old at that time fell asleep in her stroller at 8 pm and never woke up again (even thru that parade with the shovel guys banging around. Now we did clean up on the candy since everyone felt bad our little Cinderella (that was her costume) had fell asleep.

3) Since it was just dh and I last year with the little one we didn't ride any rides that night.

Now I am seriously considering attending. Here are some of my pro's

1) Grandma is coming with us so Dh and I could possibly ride some rides and if the little one (who is now 3 1/2) gets tired, Gammie can take her back to the hotel and we could hang out and ride some rides.

2) I hear the parade and characters are pretty good and the decorations are nice.

So you tell me all you Christmas party revellers is it worth it? Tell me what your liked or didn't like.

Thanks
Michelle

I love the Christmas Party.

That said, a lot of people who go thinking they are going to ride all the rides tend to wind up disappointed. It is not an empty park with walk on rides.

The park is beautiful, the shows are great and the parade is very nice.

I do think it is worth it. Supposedly (a big SUPPOSEDLY) they are trying to strictly enforce the first closing, getting out guests that don't belong there.

If this is able to be accomplished, I think it will be great.

last year, this is one of the only things that bothered me.

Forget that you are from Ohio and are used to snow. It's not real snow and it's not really about the snow per se. It's about the mood it sets on Main St. With the Christmas decorations, it gives Main St a really cool mood.

ONe thing I love is how the park runs ONLY Christmas music through the background system (I dont remember if they do it in non party hours).

The parade is GREAT!

The fireworks are GREAT!

The crowds are lower and you can ride the rides alot.

The park is open until midnight, and if you are there during that time, I can't see missing out on a chance to stay until midnight in the MK when it otherwise closes so much earlier.

"Free" cookies and hot cocoa throughout the park.

Free shows with Disney characters.

To me, it's just an immersive Christmas atmosphere and I feel it's worth it.

This is true, however, it depends on what people are used to.

If you are wanting to avoid 1 1/2 hour waits on the most popular rides......you'll definately accomplish that and be happy. We found Splash last year with about a 25 mins wait during the peak time of the party. However, a little tip......the park, even with the party, starts to thin out after 10:00 and rides get MUCH quicker to get on.

I suggest spending the time before the fireworks around Main St enjoying the Christmas atmosphere and then playing in the park in the later hours.

What special "shows" do they have during MVMCP?

I haven't seen it but, there's some sort of special Christmas show in the pavilion over in Tomorrowland with MIckey Minnie Goofey, Pluto and others.

Then I think they do another night showing of the castle stage show.

You should definitely consider going. The holiday parade is so amazing. It is by far my favorite Disney parade. Also, the Wishes is a special, holiday wishes, with extra fireworks. It is truly magical. I understand your frustration about your daughter sleeping, but you can get a stroller for free during the parties, so pack her in there, and if she stays up, great, if not, oh well!

I second the idea of waiting til later to ride the rides. Maybe your Grandma would like to watch the first parade and fireworks with you then take your daughter back to sleep. DH and I walked on to everything we rode at MVMCP in 2004, including all of the mountains, but we waited to ride until after Holiday Wishes. Last year, because we were there with my niece and nephew, we rode before the first parade, and experienced short waits at Fantasyland. We noted 20 minute waits for the mountains.
