My family (me, DH, and 3 kids 14, 12, and 10) will be at universal with a one day park-to-park pass on monday march 6. We have only been to IOA once and mostly stayed in the HP areas (only exceptions were DH rode the Hulk coaster and we all rode Spiderman). DH and DS love coasters (and DS should be tall enough for all this time), and we all LOVED Spiderman. Since we only have one day, we are again focusing on HP this time around but what are the can't miss attractions in both parks we should make a point to get to?

transformers!! if you loved spider-man don't miss it, now that kids are old enough do all the coasters which usually have no long lines, and take advance of single riders line is a time saver and kids ar old enough to ride by themselves if the lines are too long, and by all means get there early so you can do most of both parks, simpsons area is neat and the ride is good, minions is a must is a funny kiddie ride but very enjoyable, have a great trip!!!

Thank you!! I will definitely make it a point to get to those, and also try to be there when the park opens!

We were just there and I really don't have a desire to go back . Glad we went once Tho ! I really love parks and I love rides but there is way too much simulation rides there .. Hulk was great and Harry Potter made it all worth it because that is amazing ! Kong was pretty cool . I would never go on Simpsons again because that was a major motion sickness ride for me . we enjoyed the shows, we enjoyed the shows Especially the fish one near San Francisco . We really enjoyed our meal at cowfish as well . My favorite thing was actually the dinosaur interaction myself , it's an encounter near Jurassic park and it's worth the wait !

Good to know about the Simpsons ride! I will have to look into that one as some things do make me sick. Forbidden Journey was awesome...until we rode it four times in a row and I ended up feeling crummy on the last one:/

My not to miss is probably a little different than most people's. I'm probably the only person in the world who hates Rip Ride Rocket. Me and a lot of coasters don't get along. They tend to give me migraines. I was in tears by the time I got off Rip Ride, my head hurt so bad.

IOA
  • Forbidden Journey
  • Three Broomsticks
  • Spellcasting
  • One Fish Two Fish
    • If the the weather is hot enough to get wet
    • We have so much fun trying to dodge the water and get each other wet
  • Bilge Rats
    • If the weather is hot enough to get completely soaked
    • amazing raft ride, but it's like you went swimming with your clothes on
  • High in the Sky Trolley
    • not sure why, but I love this ride. I think it's the Disney part of me. I love the whimsy and color and simplicity, and the great views
  • Storm Force
    • I love the classics, and the spinning teacup type ride has always been a favorite of mine at any park.
  • Poseidon's Fury

US
  • Men in Black
    • I love to ride this over and over. I always think I will get a better score, but I never do. :(
  • Mummy
    • Love how this is a coaster but still integrated into a story with special effects.
  • Transformers
  • Animal Actors show
    • This is my favorite animal show of any parks or zoos I've been to. I thought the variety of animals was nice and kept it interesting.

Citywalk
  • Bubba Gump
    • The whole family loves this restaurant, and we always go if we somewhere where they have one.

Based on your family's interests, I'd recommend the coasters and thrill rides, plus King if it wasn't open last time you were there.

IOA
Forbidden Journey
Dueling Dragons
Hulk
Spider-Man
Kong - if haven't seen yet
Bilge Rat Barges - if hot and don't mind getting wet

Hogwarts Express

US
Gringotts
Mummy
RRR
Transformers
MIB
Despicable Me - if time or if big fans of movie

I think ET and Shrek are fun attractions as well, but they aren't necessarily headliners or must sees in my opinion.

I don't care for the Simpson ride at all. It made me slightly motion sick, and I didn't care for the plot.

Terminator was so "memorable and exciting" that I don't even remember what happened in the show.

My favorite thing was actually the dinosaur interaction myself , it's an encounter near Jurassic park and it's worth the wait !

Yes! This is the only meet-and-greet we have ever done (that includes all of WDW too). It is called Velociraptor Encounter. Definitely not a princess M&G. Very fun time!

The Mummy Ride might be my favorite ride in the park. Jurrasic park area is great. Hulk, MIB, ET, and the simpsons rides are the "E-Ticket" rides for me

I have only been to Universal once back in the 90s when I was a teenager. I remember lots of simulation rides, which we generally dislike (Soarin is the exception _ love that). We are big Disney people and love that their simulation rides are limited. Now I have Harry Potter loving 8 and 6 yr old kids so we are planning to go for a day in April while we are in FL. Is there someplace that has a list of "real" rides vs simulation rides? I've looked on Universal website but its tough to tell. My father and DH get motion sick on the simulation rides.

Don't rule out simulator rides. Only about half bothered me- and they aren't the same ones other people say sometimes. You can just close your eyes of one doesn't work for you.
It's easier to list the simulator rides:
US- Transformers, Minions and Simpsons
IOA- Spiderman and Forbidden Journey.
Plenty of rides are traditional. I'd hate to have missed any of those, even if I'd never ride the Simpsons again.

Some must do rides for us are -- Gringotts, Forbidden Journey, Mummy, Minions, Simpsons, Spiderman & the water rides. I'd skip the water rides though if it's not hot since you get drenched lol We go in August so it's necessary to cool down! A not to miss treat is stopping at Florean Fortescue's for some ice cream... The salted caramel blondie... To die for! :) And the Donuts in Simpsons Land!! Have Fun!!
