Staying at BWI 11/12-16. Am thrilled about it. Going w/DD8 and my mother, 70. We have standard room but asked to be near elevator due to mom and some mobility issues. Would dearly love view of EPCOT. Have a couple of questions:

How deep is the water at the bottom of the slide? DD can swim a short distance but not what I would call a swimmer. How far to the edge of the pool from bottom of slide? Do they have to have a 'test'?

Is there a smoking balcony or overlook and is smoking allowed in the lounge?

I read that the lounge or somewhere in the hotel set up continental breakfast items for salel. Is that true?

Is BWI last stop on the Boat and Bus routes? Are they really crowded with all the Epcot resorts sharing?

Generally, what are your likes and dislikes? What do you really like to do in the Hotel? Tell me why you love it?

THanks much!

To get a view of Epcot, you might want to request a garden view room----I'm not sure how close to elevators they are, though........

About your other questions: the BelleVue Lounge does have a continental breakfast --Also, the Boardwalk Bakery has coffee and pastries, rolls, etc. I think I remember seeing ashtrays in the BelleVue Lounge, also........

This board gives a good FAQ about the BWI , and I learned a lot from the FAQ at WDWIG (I tried to put the url, but it didn't work for me).

What I love about the Boardwalk Inn is just everything--I wish I could live there!! I'm going this weekend (changed from AKL to BWI), so if you have any more questions that you don't find out from posts here or the FAQs, email me before Thursday, & I'll find out when I'm up there.

We just stayed at the BWI in July and loved it.

The pool is wonderful. Alot of fun. The slide has alot of turns and you plop into water about 4 feet deep with a current that moves you away from the slide. There is a ladder about 15 feet away maby less. You can stand close to the bottom and pick your child up from the bottom.

The BelleVue Lounge had no continental breakfast during our stay. But we went down to the bakery on the boardwalk in the morning everyday on our way to the parks. The pasteries were yummy and you sit at tables outside along the BW. It was never crowded at 8:30 to 9 AM when we were there. We enjoyed this time.

There is a community hall behind the pool to the left. We went there a few times with the kids. It had craft making for the kids (we did not do this) during the day at certain times. There was foozeball, air hockey, ping pong, nintendo set up on 4 TVs, a hockey game, 3 computers, and popcorn for $1, All free.

Our room was in the main Bldg on the 3rd floor ,with a view of Epcot. We could see the fireworks at night. It was a wonderf, large room near the elevator. You will love this location. We asked for a view of Epcot a check-in.

The only complaint I have is the resort shop was small with a very small selection of merchandise with the BW logo on it. This complaint is very trivial...............

We loved the BWI. It is now my favorite resort..........

Thanks Kathleen and Dbail....

I guess since BWI is so small, it just doesn't get a lot of activity, comments on the boards. Hopefully, it's just the best kept secret on property and we're going to just fall in love with it.

67 days to go...

We stayed here in May and also loved it. We never did see cont. breakfast offered at the lounge. We just went to the bakery and ate at a table outside enjoying the wonderful views. We had a standared room booked and faxed our requests and got the room we wanted with an Epcot view.(see the fax, it tells more about our view) When we were there there were parents waiting at the bottom of the slide for their daughter and the lifeguards kept telling them they are not allowed to stay there. They didn't listen and kept on and the lifeguards gave them more warnings alittle more stern and they finally just left. So make sure you aren't close to the bottom of the slide, maybe wait on the side a bit. My DH and sis(10yo) loved the slide and the water was 4ft.
If memeory serves me right I do believe on the bus the BW was the last stop coming back from a park. We walked to Epcot and MGM. The only thing I don't like is the shared transportation between the resorts. We really loved everything else about this resort. We often went swimming in the quiet pool and had it all to ourselves, listening to the music from ToD! It was so nice strolling the BW at night with all the entertainment right there, fire eater, surrey bikes, strolling musicians, face painting, hair wrapping, games, etc. Oh, also the ice cream parlor is really good. Also don't forget to stroll over to BC and eat at B&C, the hambergers and desserts are the best!
We often just sat in the lobby and people watched, it is a very pretty lobby. Also sitting on the verandah, on a rocker, I was in heaven! You will love this resort and I hope you have a great vacation. Try to spend at least one day at the resort enjoying their amenities. We did this on 2 days and loved it!
