Tell me it's ok to have 2 adr's for same time...just for a day! long....

I like to play by the rules...so I need you to tell me it's ok!
I'm taking my friend and her 7 yr old for their first trip...we leave Sat!
I had made all of my ADR's back at the 180 mark...but we were talking the other day and I found out that she'd rather stop back at the room midday for a nap/swim than go all day and leave park early evening...
I originally had planned to go to Chefs de France on Sunday at 1 pm while we were in Epcot and also go to Sanaa at 5pm for my daughters birthday on Feb 24th...
But, I found out that Remy does not appear on Sundays....
And leaving the park to take a nap and THEN going to a 5 pm dinner at Kidani on the 24th sounds like alot of running around.
So, I just booked 2 pm lunch at Sanaa for Sun (epcot day)..I figured we'd spend the morning in FW, then go to Sanaa for lunch, have a nap/swim and then back to Epcot for the evening.
Then I booked a 5:20 dinner at Chefs de France on the 24th...figuring we'd do FW again, then nap/swim and come back for a birthday dinner and tour WS until Illuminations...
Now...keep in mind it's president's week...I didn't really expect to find these slots open....but there they were! So, I don't think I'm really taking a spot that someone else wants...
I do plan to most likely cancel the first 2 adr's....(possibly the new ones)...but I just want a day to consider it before I cancel something I wind up wishing I didn't....
Am I terrible?
On another note, the system did warn me that I had conflicting ADR's...I thought that was cool.

If you are only take a day or two to consider, and then cancelling one - I think you will be fine!

I had 2 different ADRs for the same time spot, on 2 different days (so 4 ADRs all together) for a week or so when making our plans last September. Although the system warned me, and I heard some people lost their ressies, I never had an issue. I was able to keep the one I decided I wanted and cancel the other, for both.

Even though you are planning to cancel one soon....you still run the risk for both to be canceled at anytime.
That is just how it is.

They can't tell who's intentions are what. All the system or CMs know is you have a double booking period.

Would be nice if they could only cancel the abusers, but as it is now we all suffer for what a few do.

I had 2 for maybe 2 months until I could figure out what we wanted to do last year and neither got canceled until I canceled one.
Its kind of annoying though b/c I make reservations for 11 people and one night half of us will be at Teppan Edo and half will be @ Via Napoli so I will have to log on to 2 different names or call and put them under 2 different names.

I went in and canceled the original ADR's and kept the new ones. The new ones assume that we'll be in Epcot for a second day..so let's hope my friend really likes Epcot the way I do!
Can you believe I got a 2 pm lunch at Sanaa for the Sunday of President's week and a 5:20 dinner for Chefs de France for the Thurs....both available this morning! Do you think it's just because there's no free dining right now?

Disney allows it, although from various reports you may have to deal with CMs who take it upon themselves to cancel one or both if they see you have two at the same time. Apparently this is rare but it happens occasionally.

Asking here, you'd probably need to prepare for the differing opinions of posters on this board as to the ethics of double-booking. My take on it is that as soon as you decide which reservation you want to keep you should cancel the other one. Otherwise it doesn't bother me.

Sanaa is not popular for lunch. Most guests are in the parks at that time and this restaurant is really off the beaten path. Not only that but I am acquainted with many people who won't go there because the food is "too weird." I am not surprised you could get lunch there even on the most high-attendance park days.

Be careful with that 5:20 for dinner at Chefs if your intention is to see Remy. His last circuit begins precisely at 5:20. If you are seated any later than that you may not see him. If Remy is the big draw for you here, I would try to move that reservation earlier.

I think Sanaa is wonderful for lunch! See if you can get a window table so you can view the savanna while you eat.

I still think you should try and move your Chefs reservation if it's all about Remy. He doesn't double back on his circuit to see people who came in after he passed their section. If he passes before you are seated you will miss him again.

I would definitely make the reservation for no later than 4:50 especially since Remy is important to you. I just checked and there are online reservations for 2/24 for 4 at 4:30 and 4:50 available.

As others have mentioned, Remy begins his last circuit at 5:20. If you are not at your table when he comes around because you haven't been seated yet, are in the process of being seated or are in the bathroom, he will not come back and you are not allowed to go up to him later. If you are at a table near the end of his circuit, the 5:20 time will be fine, but if you're at one of the first tables he visits and even if you arrive early, but aren't seated until 5:20 you could miss him.

Additionally he is a highly sophisticated audio animatronic figure that could have unexpected mechanical problems so be prepared that he might not appear at all.

Hope you are able to see him.

I did this once before I knew any better and while I was @ WDW ifound that most of my adrs were CANCELLED!!!! You can imagine my horror!! Luckily I was able to reinstate most of them. It wasn't during free dining or else there probably wouldn't have been availability. I was told if there is a double book the computer automaticaly kicks one out. I learned my lesson and will never do it again.

Do the automatic cancellations happen only if the ADR's are for the exact same time? I've had multiple ADRs before, and didn't get cancelled. In fact, when I asked Beach Club concierge to cancel some for me, he asked that I not do so because he wanted to give them to other guests.

I don't believe there is such a thing as automatic cancellation done by the computer. If there were, far more reservations would be cancelled than already are. I think they have people who are doing these cancellations of double-booked reservations. I don't know if they are told by Disney to do it or they are just doing it.

Last trip I did this while planning.
I didn't know for sure what my, then 2 1/2 y/o, son's schedule would be like. When I booked, he took late naps and we ate dinner at 6:30-7pm most nights.
I was glad I did make those 5pm adr's, cause about 1 month before the trip he started napping after lunch, and then he was ready to eat at 5pm. I did cancel the later one's about 2 weeks out, and the system did not cancel any of my adr's, which I had for at least 2 or 3 months.
Sorry everyone who hates the double booker, I only did it to feed my baby.
