Tell me I'm not alone

Wow, wasn't expecting there to be so many of us "more mature??" Disney fans out there! But after all... aren't we the original Mouseketeer fans? :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Welcome to the DIS boards!

I can't WAIT to go to WDW sometime with just my DH!!! It will be so much fun. DH thought I was crazy when I wanted to go there on our honeymoon 17 years ago. He gave in though, and was hooked immediately. We're going this year with the family for the first time in 10 years and are so excited about that. But when we're older, I can definitely see just the 2 of us and how wonderful will that be!?! My parents went several years ago when they were both in their late 60s. Even my grumpy dad had a good time, though he probably wouldn't admit it anymore.

WDW is for EVERYONE, no matter the age!

Never have been in December, so I have no experience with MVMCP, but I'm betting it would be so worth it!!

Enjoy your trip and, once again, WELCOME TO THE BOARDS! :goodvibes

We are your age and got hooked in the last few years. Glad it happened.

For many years I went to WDW with my Mom...then she passed away and I went alone or with friends. IN 2004 I WAS ENGAGED AT CINDERELLAS CASTLE and in 2005 was married and honeymooned in Disneyland. We were their me and DH in March and will be their 12/8 - 12/17 staying at POP(price is right) with our two grandchildren ages 3 & 6. This will be my fist time with small children. We are annual passholders and will be back in March17-25 once again as just a couple....we are currently 53 & 55. Go and have a great time Xmas is a great time to go. When I was alone I enjoyed the parks as I was not in a hurry and could stroll as I pleased. Now that I am married I do that with my husband and its wonderful...thank God I am with someone who loves Disney like I do :lmao: or lets say almost as much as I do. :rotfl2: Have a great time and remember :moped: we are the youth of old age

DH and I go alone and to tell you the truth it's great! We do what we want, when we want, at the pace we want. We'll be making a trip in a few months with kids and grandkids. I'm stressing over it a little as it gets challenging to get everyone everywhere they want to go without drama. :guilty: Go and enjoy!

:welcome: to the DIS!!!

My DM is 60 and absolutely loves WDW. MY DM, DD, and I went for the first time in 96 my DD was 5 at the time. My DM fell in love with it. We always try to schedule our trips between Thanksgiving and Xmas. WDW is so beautiful during that time. I swear there is extra magic during that season. Go relax and enjoy.

Nope, not alone at all....My first ever trip to Disney was just me and my DF, 38yo and 40yo respectively, and I look forward to going with him ALONE again when Im 50, 60, 70....well you get the picture.
Enjoy your adventure as a couple. WDW is a very romantic place. :thumbsup2 :)

When we went on our first family trip this spring. On the arrival ME bus, I noticed an older lady in her 60's or 70's traveling all by herself and smiling ear to ear. She seemed to enjoy watching my kids bounce around the bus and talking about meeting Mickey and Minnie. I thought why would someone want to come to Disney without children or by themselves. :confused3

We had a WONDERFUL family vacation and I thought about that lady on the ME bus back to the airport... now I understood. I can certainly see myself going back to Disney just to take in the magic of watching someone else's families dreams come true. Hopefully I will get to make many more trips with my younger family, older family, adults only, grand babies even.... I want to be that lady on the bus when I grow up. :goodvibes

I'm leaving in less than two weeks and I'm so excited about it I'm already grinning from ear to ear. I'll be solo for the first five days, then my DS (46) will be joining me for the next five. I went last December with her and her partner and their two young'uns (ages 5 and7) and that was a blast, but we're both looking forward to our sister trip. I, of course, need no excuse to go, but I think she's feeling a little guilty about not taking the kids, so we're calling it a scouting mission to check out rides that might be a little iffy for kids that age, so that when we all go back again (hopefully) in the spring,
we'll know which rides they'll love, and which might be a bit too scarey.
The older I get, the more I love Disney!

I'm celebrating my 50th birthday next year at WDW - and I can't wait to go!!
This will be my 3rd trip to WDW, and I have had great fun each time. Go ahead and enjoy every minute. Don't forget to let us all know how it went!!
:cool1:

We have had TOO many friends work till way after retirement and something happen that they never get to enjoy their retirement years. No one is promised a tommorow, so go and be young and enjoy life doing whatever makes you both happy!!! That is our take on things and we have joined DVC within the last two years and enjoy every minute of it!!!

DH is 55, I'm 53. He's from Florida and never been to WDW, I went once in 1977. When we were deciding what to do for vacatiion this fall, we knew we would be camping (we have a popup) and my DH suggested Fort Wilderness.

We both are looking forward to our trip 10/28 - 11/5. No matter how old you are, the Disney magic will enthrall you.

Have a wonderful trip! pixiedust:

My husband & I first went to Disney World in 1977, 1 year before we were married in our early 20's. We only spent one day there & drove back to my grandparents house near Tarpon Springs that night because the only thing there was the Magic Kingdom (which to this day I still sometimes call Disney World).

We've been to Disney World about a dozen times since, last time in 2004 (now we're in our early 50's or for me very late 40's in 2004). We don't have any children and except for 1 trip with my sister & her then 15 year old son, we've gone alone and always had a great time.

I've had people say "you're going to Disney again?", they think I go every year which I don't & I am tired of hearing it but if I every get a chance to go back, I won't let it bother me anymore. It's our vacation and that's what we enjoy. So go & have fun and don't mind what other people say.

My mother-in-law has an aunt and uncle in their mid 70s who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Yacht and Beach Club. Just the two of them. They loved it.

Now that they know I'm a big Disney fan everytime I see them we talk about the World. They had a great time and talk about going back all the time. I'm not sure if they have been back, because I don't see them often, but I think Disney is one of those places where it is perfect for older folks because the feeling of safety and the ease of getting around.

I'm 42 and have been in love with Disney since my first visit at 8 years old. I don't see that changing anytime soon. My wife didn't go until we got married 15 years ago. We both agree that it is the best vacation destination in the world.

When I'm old and gray I'll be sitting in one of the Disney resorts with a cold cocktail and taking in all the magic.

Disney is timeless and it really can't be described it has to be experienced.

There is nothing embarasing about going on a Disney Vacation. You should be excited that you are getting to go to the most magical place on Earth and not have to be rushed. How exciting for you that they'll be no whining children and you can pace the parks as you wish... this will be relaxing vs. a working vacation. A few years ago we went on a Disney Cruise and there were many coulpes of all ages there to enjoy the Disney & Cruising experience.
Disney is for the kid in all of us not just our kids!!
Have a great trip:

I will turn 51 in January while on our trip. DH will turn 52 shortly after we get back. I am ordering a cake for our birthdays while we are there. We are traveling just the two of us and I cant wait!

I was thinking of doing this since DH will be 57 in mid Nov., then we go on our trip the second week of Dec., then our anniversary is two days before my 52nd birthday at the end of Dec. So we have plenty to celebrate! :cake: Glad there are so many others who do the same thing.

Go for it! Have a great time!

My wife and I are 54 and we decided to go down last year without our 2 children because they were both in college. We weren't sure how it would go but we had a blast! We got to do what we wanted to, when we wanted to. We ate at the restaurants we liked without having to change. Also, we found time to relax by the pool and plan out our days better. We went non-stop some days - many rides we did twice!!!! It was alot of fun. We had so much fun we're going back down in October! We also get a chance to shop more - with the kids around, we don't shop as much. Also, at their ages (21 &25), they have different schedules - they're more night people now whereas we like to get up early and get out early! Have alot of fun!

Disney is as great without children as it is with. You don't have to be a parent/grandparent who is experiencing their childs first trip to enjoy it. HELLO the adults enjoy it too!!! So go and enjoy whatever your age and live life to it's fullest!!! WE DO!!!! DIZNEYNUTZ
