DH and I convinced DBIL and DSIL to take their DD (3) with us and our DS's (4 and 6) for a 4 day trip in late January.

DH and I are moderate fans and haven't stayed at any of the values. DS's are sports nuts so we picked Sports.

For those of you who have enjoyed Sports, please let me know what you liked/loved. I know there are some downsides and I've adjusted my expectations. I love Disney and consider it a joy to just be going and staying onsite.

Thanks Everyone!

Although I've never stayed at the All Star Sports, I have stayed at the Movies, and we love it! I think the All Stars are great hotels - we have had some of the best bus service staying at the value resorts - even better than some of the bus service while staying at the Grand Floridian and Contemporary! The rooms are clean and the CMs were great!

We're staying at the All Star Music on our upcoming trip (20 more days!!!); its our first time at the Music! We've also stayed several times at Pop Century!

I've heard many good things about All Star Sports - especially the fact that it gets first pick up and first drop off!!! The food courts at the values are all about the same - and its pretty good for a quick bite!

Your two boys will probably love the sports theming!! Go and enjoy!!!

My DW and I are going in 2 weeks. We are staying at AS Sports for 4 nights and Boardwalk for 3. I will post my comments when we get back. I have heard nothing but good things of the value resorts and the AS have all of the oversized things that make you feel like a kid again. I can't wait.

DS and I stayed there 2 yrs ago. Although we aren't sports enthusiasts we thoroughly enjoyed the resort. The rooms are nice, food court was great for getting quick meals, bus service was excellent as we were first picked up and first to be dropped off. We weren't bothered by any noise either. We ended up on the backside of baseball section and found it to be very pleasant. It was a close walk to the smaller pool, and not too long a walk to the food court for refillable mugs. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. :earsboy:

I I prefer the All Star resorts.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
All Star Sports is at the top of the page.
The buses are wonderful.
Bus ride times according to PassPorter.com

Bus rides are shorter from the ALL Stars than POP according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses------------Pop buses
MK 20 min---------------MK 25 min
Epcot 10 min------------Epcot 20 min
MGM 10 min--------------MGM 15 min
AK 10 min----------------AK 15 min
DTD 15 min---------------DTD 20 min

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools, food court and in line waiting for the bus.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

BUS SHARING
It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's qwn bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

I  the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck or Goofy at the pool?
Have fun at Disney.
I know we did!

We've stayed at every level of resort accomadations at WDW except concierge--which we will be doing in July. I have never been disappointed in any of the All Stars or POP as a whole (once had a cleaning issue at POP--but easily resolved). Until last summer we had never stayed at AS Sports, and really had no interest since we are not huge sports fans. The stay was only for one night as an "extra day" before we drove home. We were not disappoointed. The rooms were highly themed--we were in the Baseball section, very clean and the staff was very friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and even the kids thought the huge icons were fun!

All Star Sports was the first onsite resort we ever stayed at. We were there about 7 years ago for my daughter's cheerleading competition. We liked it! I do not recall hearing noises from the rooms around us, even though the place was jammed with competitors from all over. No one was being rude or pushy at the food court, or the pool. We thought the room was very cute and very disney. It was a great value! You will enjoy it too!

We have stayed at the All Star Sports 4 times and once at the All Star Movies, we prefer the AS Sports and the only reason we're staying at the Pop Century for Christmas is just to try it out, but I'm sure we'll be back at the AS Sports again in the future :)

We were there 2 years ago in July. We took DD2, DS 6 & 8. My boys loved it. They thought the statues of all the sporting things were awesome. I have to admit, my husband was in little boy heaven also. We loved it. I do not think you will be disappointed, especially with the boys at that age. We did not notice noise at all. It seemed very quiet. Rest at ease. You will have a fabulous time. Enjoy!

Thank you everyone for your responses! I am totally excited now.

ONLY 70 more days YEAH!

My family and I stayed at the All Stars Sports Resort this past may. We booked a 7 day land and sea trip and decided at the last minute to add another day to the land portion. We were booked at the Poly. They couldn't fit us in for the extra day so we stayed at the sports resort. It was VERY nice,. Our kids loved it. The room was very nice, we enjoyed the foodcourt and the pool. I would definetly stay there again.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised, as was I when I stayed there solo in Dec '03. I called at the time for AP discounts and the only value left was All-Star Sports. I have to admit I was disappointed, but took it figuring I was going to be in WDW and that's what I was looking forward to! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at All-Star Sports and it was BETTER than I expected: theming was great (big, fun, and colorful - made for some great pics!), housekeeping was fine, the food court was good, and the bus service was very good. In fact, if I were to recommend a stay at any of the All-Stars I would recommend Sports - at the time, from what I observed, it seemed as though Sports often got a bus all to themselves while Movies and Music shared and if there was a shared bus at least Sports was first-on and first-off! You will have a great time - ENJOY!!!!

:flower:

We have stayed at ASsports 3 times and Music once. We will be staying at ASmovies in December. For the money we think that the value resorts are great. Our first stay at WDW we stayed at the Sports and were in complete awe of just how cool it was. I think that the all stars have the best Disney theming of all resorts and for kids the huge icons are amazing. Even now, 9 years later, my kids still love the huge surf boards, foot balls, etc... The food court is great for kids - everything they love to eat, the pool is big and has great theming. We always try to request a room close to pool and food court because we are making so many trips each day. Your family will love this resort!!

We stayed at All Star Sports last May and we loved it.We have 2 boys ages then 11 and 13.We really lucked out and got a corner room on the bottom floor north end of the football building, front side facing the giant football field.EXCELLENT location!!!! Very centrally located to the food court, pool and bus stops without all of the noice from the pool since there is a pretty section of shrubbery there. You do NOT want to be in the basketball section. My sons and I walked around one evening and it is WAY back there! We did not ask for preferred room or make any room requests so we really got lucky. Our room was not in the preferred section but if you ask me it was better than the preferred section!Hope this helps.Have a great time!!!!!!We are going back in May again!!!!!

We have stayed at a wide variety of resorts over the last 20 years. Our priorities are price, clean rooms and staying at WDW. While there was nothing wrong with our stays at the Poly or several of the moderate resorts in the past, we decided that since we used our room to nap and sleep that we would save money on the room and spend it at the wonderful dining locations available at WDW.
Our last two times at All Star Sports were wonderful. Two years ago we checked in on Dec 9th and left on the 19th and last year we were there from Dec 5th through the 10th. We had no problems. We had a room that was not facing the pools both times and had no noise problems. We were fairly close to the food court and the bus. All the CM's that we dealt with were wonderful.
The bus service was great. There were a couple of times that the lines at the food court were pretty long but we usually ate in the parks.
We are not "sporty" type people but I picked this resort the first time because the bus usually picks up first and drops off first at Sports.
We are going back to All Star Sports this Dec.

I stayed at the Sports this past September and absolutely loved it and will be going back next September. My 2 sons, ages 12 and 16 loved the theme and everything was supersized. We stayed in the surfs up building and was a step away from the laundromat, food court, and lobby. The pools are awesome and again a step away from our room. For next September I have reserved 2 rooms because we will be traveling in a group of 6 people. I enjoyed staying at this resort and saved a ton of money on the room. Someday I would like to stay at the Poly but it costs so much more. Enjoy yourself!

My husband and I have stayed at All Star Sports 3 times, and just love it. We've never had problems with noise there (our trips have always been in the off season, though). The theming is a lot of fun, and the bus service is great. It's so nice being the first stop among the All Star Resorts.

I used to stay at the Poly all the time as a kid, but that's out of our budget. I was a little worried on the first trip that I'd be disappointed at a Value resort. Of course it doesn't have the convenience of being on the monorail and having the Poly's view of Cinderella's Castle, but it's still a lot of fun and has all the Disney magic. We don't have kids yet, but I'm sure kids would love it. We plan to return in 2007, and will be back at All Star Sports.

My excitement grows with each of your posts! Thanks so much! I can tell you understand my concern, or should I say my PAST concern.

I am no longer worried. Now my biggest problem is having to wait!

While all you All Star Sports folks are reading....will I be close enough to the food court and bus stop if I request the football section? What is the bus stop situation there? Are there multiple bus stops or just one at the main building?

My DH, DD(2) and I stayed at All-Star Sports this past September. It was our first trip to WDW. That being said, I cannot ocmpare to moderate or deluxe. What I can tell you is that we LOVED it. My daughter loved running on the football field, playing tennis with Donald and playing baseball with Huey, Dewey and Louie. The football building in my opinion is the best location, closest to food court and bus stop, but far enough away from noise of main pool. The rooms were clean and CM's were helpful. My only complaint is that the limit on the rooms are 4 people. Our trip next year willinclude my 2 step-children also and we'll hvae to stay at a moderate (POR). Hope this helps!

i love the all star sports resort. it could have to do with the fact that im 13 and a boy from boston lol :rotfl: but we stayed out in the pool forever, despite the hours. they dont check on whos in the pool. another thing is i could play football there. im actually an all american wide reciever from boston. me and my friends challenged other kids to play football and we kicked their *** lol :rotfl2: another thing is that it has a gift shop right there.
choose all star sports it is the right choice :wave2: bye bye
