So my wife and I are planning on a super quick trip at the end of March. (We are AP holders). We are going to drive to Jacksonville Friday night and then drive to the Dolphin for a 1 night stay. We plan on hanging out by the pool most of the day and then walking over to Epcot to go see Night Ranger perform (One of my wife's favorites). Then we leave Sunday about lunch time for the drive home. (9 hours).

Just want to make sure we are not actually crazy just "Crazy for Disney" lol.

You are not crazy. When we lived in Tampa we used to go to WDW for just a day all the time. We live in Houston now and I really miss those quick trips.

I wouldn't do it, but it's your time, not mine. Twenty hours of driving (adding an hour each way for stops) for a 24 hour stay isn't worth it.

Sorry, we are 7 hours away and would not drive down for 1 night. The shortest trip we will drive down for is 4 nights. However, if you and your wife are good with it, then have fun :)

A few years back, the morning after Halloween my husband looked at me and said "see if you can get us a room at Disney, I need to get away for a couple of days. He was an ER doc then and worked 12 hour shifts. Didn't have to be back on until Wednesday night. I found a cheap room at the Swan and even scored a dinner for 'Ohana for that evening. We live 7 hours away. It was worth every minute! Enjoy. Our younger daughter (20) and I have Ap's, we make frequent three night trips now

I am a 14+ hour drive away and actually booked a 2 night stay to see Wishes one last time but then cancelled because I decided I didn't want to spend that much time driving for such a short trip. I definitely don't think you are crazy. My two night trip might still be a thing if we were 9 hours away instead of 14+.

For one evening in Epcot, I wouldn't do a 9 hour drive each way. If you were going to get a good part of your two days there in the parks, then I would consider it. So, you may be a little crazy, but not by much.

I should have pointed out that we are using points to stay at a hotel in Jacksonville as well as the Dolphin so the only cost for the rooms is for Dolphin resort fee and parking. That makes it sound a little *less* crazy lol. I would love to stay an extra day or 2 (or 10) but unfortunately my wife doesn't have any vacation days until end of April so we sort of have to make the best of it.

It is about the driving time there and back for me, not cost.

Not sure how far you are driving ....

Am driving down Friday (7-8 hours) and driving back home Sunday (7-8 hours).

Call me crazy too I suppose! :crazy2:

My wife and I had planned to fly down on a Friday last month and fly back on Monday. When we arrived at the airport, however, our flight was canceled with no other flights out until the next night. We had already driven 1.5 hours in the opposite direction of Orlando but decided to drive down at the last minute rather than cancel the trip we had been so looking forward to.

We had a nine-hour and a half drive from the airport in Greensboro, NC, in addition, to the drive to the airport and time waiting for a ticketing agent. We arrived at the Boardwalk about 12:30 AM. We did have two full days and visited every park using the Express Busses and still had time to relax at the Boardwalk. Our drive home was about 8.5 hours and seem to go very quickly compared to our trip down. I would say if you could work out a day off on Monday and stay an extra night it would be worth it. I don't think I would go with just one partial day on Saturday.

We are seven hours away, I wouldn't drive down for one night.

It has to be at least three nights for us.

I think it sounds like a fantastic weekend! I don't see why it sounds so strange, lots of people love road trips(myself included) and spend weekends driving all over the place.

For my birthday this past year we drove out and camped in Western Massachusetts one night, then drove to Niagara Falls for one night as I had never been, then drove home the next day(and stopped at Women's Rights Nat'l Park on the way back for a couple hours). I lived 8 hrs from Niagara Falls. :)

You're not just going to Epcot, you're also going to Jacksonville, and probably will be listening to great music/podcasts and enjoying each other's company in between. Sounds like a great Florida road trip. If being crazy is wrong I don't want to be right! ;)
