We are new to WDW and are going this October. I made our ADRs.
I love the disboards :lovestruc and have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments about dining. I've seen that many feel the quality and/or service has gone down recently.
I appreciate those posts, but for this particular one, I'm looking for any GOOD comments you have about our reservations. If you've been to one of these and loved the food, the characters, the service, the ambiance, etc...please let me know. Help us get psyched up and excited! :woohoo::yay::cool1:

ADRs:
Chef Mickey's (Dinner)
Garden Grill (Dinner)
Crystal Palace (Breakfast)
T-Rex (lunch)
Liberty Tree Tavern (Dinner)
Boma (Dinner---the night we arrive!)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner)

The is ONLY my personal opinion...

LTT lunch is way better than LTT dinner. Personally, I would book a lunch there rather than dinner.

Again....just my personl opinion. You cant go really wrong with anything at Disney!!! ;)

I've only been to 2 of your choices. We had lunch (not breakfast) at Crystal Palace. The food was very good, our waitress was excellent and the character interaction with the guests was great. It looks like your son will enjoy characters at several of your choices.

Boma was my favorite dinner. I really enjoyed the variety of foods served there. Even our 7 year-old DGD was well filled with a combination of things from both the children's and adult offerings on the buffet.

I've done Boma, WCC, Liberty Tree, CM. We liked them all. Favorites would have to be WCC, CM, Boma, Liberty Tree in that order.

At WCC, we did the skillet. Great chicken, flank steak and pototoes. Desserts were huge! If you have a good server, it is even better. The night we were there, we had a fantastic server named Geno. He and another male server were the only ones really whooping it up. Kids could get milkshakes on Dining plan - yum! I also liked that it was all you can eat but we didn't have to get up and wait on a buffet line.

DH picked CM or I would have X'd it. Last trip it was terrible, this trip it was very good.

I like that you can try different things at Boma and also get traditional safe dishes too.

Liberty Tree was good and my kids liked the food there - ham, especially. This is our oldest meal - went there two trips ago- and there were still characters.

We've eaten at all, except Boma & T-Rex.

Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are a great way to see characters. We really enjoy both of those character meals.

Whispering Canyon Cafe has a fun, playful atmosphere. Very fun.

And Liberty Tree Tavern's dinner is my husband's favorite.

I think you'll have a great time!

Have a happy trip!

We LOVE Boma! Have had great experiences all the times we have gone, both at Breakfast and Dinner. The "pods" or stations are set up well, and the chefs and staff are happy to talk to you about the food. The soup staion is FANTASTIC! All have been great, but you are in for a real treat if the carrot ginger soup is on the menu. Meat staion is wonderful, and countless posts on the desserts can be found. Most people are huge fans of the zebra domes, but I must say, I cannot get enough of the little tarts, particularly the key lime-y one!

Having now reread the OP, here are some GOOD things about your ADRs...

Liberty Tree Tavern: Loved the atmosphere. Liked being announced when we were being seated. The food was pretty good. Liked having the characters in colonial getups, although I think the characters aren't there anymore? Thought I heard they were coming back.

Chef Mickey's: I like food, especially the salmon and the desserts. It's more of an open atmosphere since it's on the 4th floor concourse of the Contemporary. If you go close to Wishes, you can run out to the observation deck to see the fireworks after dinner.

Crystal Palace: Good way to see the Pooh characters. Nice to see a character meal that isn't princesses or Mickey.

Going to do a Thumper ("If you can't some something nice") on Garden Grill.

Haven't been to the others, although I think we might be going to Boma next year.

Chef Mickey's (Dinner) The character interaction was quite good. I liked the salmon, mashed potatoes and the mickey shaped Mac 'n cheese.

Garden Grill (Dinner) Haven't been

Crystal Palace (Breakfast) Haven't been but planning on going for breakfast next trip!

T-Rex (lunch) We went for dinner in February and really liked it! The room in the back is much quieter then the front, the servings are HUGE, and the service was good. I had the Triasic Tuna Appy as my entree and it was fabulous!

Liberty Tree Tavern (Dinner) Haven't been

Boma (Dinner---the night we arrive!) I loved Boma for dinner! So many choices (I eat fish/seafood but no other meat) and loved trying new things. I enjoyed the hummus and breads, the salmon, potatoes with Afritude, different corn options, all the desserts were great!

Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner)Haven't been

We've been to two on your list: T-Rex and LTT

We loved T-Rex! Even though my kids are adults and teens, this was a hit with all of them. The atmosphere was fun and the food delish. My son especially loved their lasagna. He said it was even better than my homemade recipe. :sad2:

We all really enjoyed LTT also. It was a nice break in the middle of the day for us at MK. There's a dessert there that is just heaven, it's like a toffee crunch cake of some kind. It's a must-do! :thumbsup2

We've done two: Chef Mickey's and Liberty Tree Tavern.

Chef Mickey's: LOVE! Great atmosphere, great character interraction. It's buffet food, so take it for what it is, but it's really not bad. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back in three weeks!! :)

Liberty Tree Tavern: The characters really made this awesome, but I don't think it'd be terrible without them (though we did not book this for our upcoming trip). I loved the vibe. Food is okay, not great, but not bad. Location in the MK can't be beat!

The is ONLY my personal opinion...

Again....just my personl opinion. You cant go really wrong with anything at Disney!!! ;)

I agree...Love LTT at lunch...not so much for dinner...OK not at all for dinner.

Best Pot Roast I ever had at LTT lunch and don't get me started on the ooey gooey toffee cake. I'll be having lunch here on 9/1...can't wait.

For our very first WDW trip in 1999, several suggested that we should make Chef Mickey's dinner the very first thing we did. I have been forever grateful for that advice. I was so excited I'm not sure if the food was good or not, but we loved it there. Going to the Contemporary, being greeted by Goofy, the playfulness of Chip and Dale, photos with Minnie and Donald, twirling our napkins with the characters and everyone in the restaurant - loved it all.

We went to Garden Grill for the dining portion of our Candlelight Processional Dinner Package. Our reservation was for a later dinner hour and very few people were there. We had a great time. We enjoyed the food (especially liked the salad, potatoes, flank steak and catfish) and the rotating restaurant very much. The characters were a delight!! Chip and Dale were again playful. Farmer Mickey was so cute even with the adults. When my daughter was going to take my photo with him, someone had mentioned that Mickey's shirt collar wasn't right so he had me fix it for him. I know - I love the smallest things. There were a few empty tables separating two sections with people. Pluto got a cheering thing going between the two - who liked him best :) It was a good meal and fun.

I love the colonial atmosphere at Liberty Tree Tavern. The food was served family style as it is at Garden Grill. It's a basic meat and potatoes meal, but seems fitting for the place and is often welcome comfort food. I remember enjoying it all.

I love Boma !!!!!! Soups, salads, entrees, desserts - everything! And along with the food, I love going to the beautiful Animal Kingdom Lodge and entering the breathtaking lobby. It's just an all around wonderful dining experience for me.

Haven't been to Crystal Palace breakfast, but I have an adr for my next trip. Heard very good things about the food and the characters. What can be better than walking down Main Street early in the morning toward the castle and having breakfast in that light filled restaurant with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore!

Haven't been to Whispering Canyon Cafe either - but we have stayed at Wilderness Lodge and it looks like a fun place to eat. There again to be walking into another breathtaking lobby for dinner works for me. I can't decide if I like coming in the front doors better into the lobby or riding the boat over from Magic Kingdom and walking the lovely path toward WL. Either way, it's a win.

Have a great trip!!! Enjoy!!!

I've only been to two of the listed restaurants, Crystal Palace and Boma.

We went to Crystal Palace for dinner, not breakfast (breakfast is on our list for our January trip!), and we really liked it! Standard buffet food, but it was fresh, hot, and the character interaction was terrific! :) Also some nice surprises like tomato-mozzarella salad, a pretty decent pasta dish, and a generous dessert spread!

BOMA!

That was a highlight! We loved everything from the atmosphere to the food! There was an unfortunate incident when we went where a child behind us vomited (TMI, I know!) but the waitstaff was more than efficient both cleaning up and moving us to another table (without us asking).

The food was SO GOOD! The soups, the prime rib (which I hear they no longer have, but I'm sure the beef is good), the salmon was so delicious, the ribs (my DH is from Memphis, TN and he says that these were some of the best he's had - great compliment!), the salads, the desserts... Boma was an A+, the only reason we're not returning next trip is because we are going to try Jiko!

ADRs:
Chef Mickey's (Dinner) - Trying dinner for the first time next month, but we've had breakfast, and it was great! The atmosphere, characters, etc.
Crystal Palace (Breakfast) - We do this every trip. We love it! Try Pooh's French Toast. Yum!
Boma (Dinner---the night we arrive!) - We tried this for the first time in December. There were some very interesting dishes, but there were also some "tame" dishes for picky eaters. The service was wonderful!
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner) - Trying this for the first time next month, too. I love 50s PTC, so I hope this is as fun.

You are going to have such a great time! I think your ADRs look great...

Chef Mickey's - I've only been there for breakfast, but the food was great & plentiful, and the characters were awesome! They took their times with our kids - lots of photo opportunities.

Haven't been to Garden Grill or Crystal Palace.

T-Rex surprised me! The atmosphere was a little....loud (my boys LOVED the place), but the food was great! Huge portions & very tasty. I wish DH & I had split our entree. I recommend the nachos - really yummy.

Liberty Tree Tavern - haven't been since our 2007 trip, but we really liked it. Kind of a calm spot in the midst of MK. I remember the cast members being especially nice and accommodating there.

Boma - LOVE LOVE LOVE Boma! I think this might be the one place to which DH and I will ALWAYS return. Go with an adventurous palate - you'll have a blast. Try just a little of everything! I loved how there were so many flavors I'd never had before. The carrot soup was especially good last time.

Whispering Canyon was also a blast. The kids adored it. Even the grown-ups were raving about the free, all-you-can-drink milkshakes! I thought the food was wonderful - I love Disney's BBQ!

We can only comment on two:

Boma - the best buffet at WDW, in fact the best anywhere in our opinion.

Crystal Palace - a beautiful restaurant with great characters. The food is fresh with lots of selection and good quality, although not on the same level as Boma.

In 2005 (yes a long time ago) My dd and I went to Liberty Tree Tavern while our "boys" played golf. My dd was almost three at the time, and we loved it. It was a relaxing break from the busy Magic Kingdom. We are thinking about going to Liberty Tree again on our next trip.

We love Whispering Cayon Cafe! We have been there twice and always recommend it too our friends. Our children get the biggest kick out of the servers antics. You've heard I'm sure to ask for ketchup, the men's bathroom and extra straws. I've heard you should wear a Tshirt from another amusement park (like one down the street) :rotfl2:

Have a FANTASTIC trip!

Chef Mickey's (Dinner) I can tell you the characters are a blast but the food...well I cannot say it is any good.

Crystal Palace (Breakfast) Great food but the soups can be salty so beware.

Boma (Dinner---the night we arrive!) Loved the falafel balls and the prime rib and the bread pudding was awesome...but those are the only items we enjoyed

Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner) Great cornbread...but that is about it, the meats are very fatty

Crystal Palace (Breakfast)
T-Rex (lunch)
Liberty Tree Tavern (Dinner)
Boma (Dinner---the night we arrive!)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner)

We've done a couple of these! I'll write on the ones that I liked, since that's what you asked for

Garden Grill - Well we did it for lunch back when it was offered but it was the same menu. The food was pretty good - the catfish breading wasn't as crisp as I'd have liked but lots of turkey was YUM! The bread pudding was delicious (not sure if they still have this) and the rolls were great. Also - the characters were fabulous. We saw each one 2 or 3 times by the time we were done and were waving them off.

Liberty Tree Tavern - We had dinner here last Christmas. They don't have characters anymore (right?) but the food was great. I usually go for lunch and get the pilgrims feast, so this is just more of the same. Delicious and I love the colonial atmosphere

Whispering Canyon - We were seated in the little extra room so we didn't see ALL the rowdiness, but our waitress was great so we got some. The food was delicious and plentiful! I think we had shrimp which is probably no longer offered. I think DH liked the pulled pork (I don't eat pork so can't speak to it). The chicken was just ok (bone-in, which isn't my preference) but the shrimp was great. And also... BEST. CORNBREAD. EVER.
