Tell Me Everything About Thanksgiving, Please!

hi! we will be going to disney for thanksgiving 2007. this will be our 1st time ever. we are so excited. where would you suggest that we eat thanksgivng dinner. (with kids, ages 3 and 5)

Personally, I'm looking forward to LTT. We have eaten there on MNSSHP nights before, and we've always loved the food and character interaction. We think it will be perfect with the characters in their colonial costumes. I'm sure other places are fine, too. It mostly depends on where you plan to be that day.

mumom95 - I'm not sure if anyone actually answered your question. I'm taking it to mean you are asking when you can book your vacation for next year. I just read a post that says the 2007 rates are now out (but not on the web yet). You'd have to call to find out for sure, but if they really are out, I'd book just as soon as you can.

This will be our third Thanksgiving in Disney. My DD14 dances with UDA in the Magic Kingdom Parade on Thanksgiving Day. This will be her third time and we look so forward to it. We missed it last year because i was pregnant with her little sister! We sure did miss it! The kids just kept saying that something doesnt feel right .....oooooh we should be in Disney!!! lol!!!
My sister and her family even joins us which makes it even more special.
As far as the crowds go it is busy but not overwhelming. We are able to ride everything with Fastpasses and proper planning. Th weather is absolutly perfect. Shorts, t-shirt and a sweatshirt or light jacket for early morning and evenings. With the decorations up it has to be one of my favorite times of the year to go!!!!!

 me, :smooth: dh, princess: dd14, princess: dd10, pirate: ds4, princess: dd7 mos

Thanks, that was what I needed to know!!

We'll be at WDW 11/17-24 (in and out of Tampa on 11/16 and 11/25 because there was nothing left in and out of Providence to Orlando) so hopefully on the front end of the trip the crowds will be lighter.

This will be our first Thanksgiving at WDW and so far it's a surprise for my kids (an early xmas gift). I didn't book until two weeks ago so I'm thankful we have reservations at all.

I am SOOOO excited. Thanks to lasmickey for this thread.

I made a 6:50 ADR at the Floridian on T-day because I heard it was beautiful there. But I wasn't sure when to eat that day.

I hadn't heard about LTT, darn - but I might check tomorrow.

Even though we booked late I was able to get some decent ADR's early in the week......although CRT is slammed of course.

We're celebrating my little one's 7th birthday while there and I've been working on making that day extra special. I'm going to have the birthday girl and her teen sisters get the royal treatment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in DTD after breakfast with Mickey and then head to the MK.

I'm bummed because we'll miss MVMCP because of our arrival date - one day late.....but I'm hoping the lights which are supposed to be up and compelte by 11/15 and the Osborne lights will be enough.

Can't wait.......

"Back in the Day" 1989, 1993, 1995 & 1998 when we headed down for the week prior to tg and into the first part of the tg week I do not recall ever seeing Christmas decorations up that early (at the time we were told they start the friday after thanksgiving). I do remember the weather was great and the crowds were not too bad of course we were on the gulf coast by the tuesday before tg

This will be our first year actually spending tg at wdw and i am really looking forward to this. We are booked at BW from Sat. the 18th until Friday the 24th (when we experience our first cruise).

Luckily i heeded the advise of all the very wise and all knowing disboarders and marked my calendar for the 180+10 and was able to get LTT for tg for 6 people (THANK YOU ALL). and actually all the adrs i was hoping to get.

So we'll see you there - i'll be the one with the big smile on my face acting like i'm about 10 years old

Then we'll be twins! That's exactly what I look like when I'm there! :thumbsup2

Thank goodness you started this thread lasmickey...because it made me look again at my plans for the week and the WDW calendar. When I called to check on LTTthis am, which of course is completely sold out for ADR's on 11/23, the CM asked me if I knew about MVMCP. I said we were not arriving in time....and she told me I was mistaken because there is a MVMCP on 11/17.

Somehow I had lost track of that as we were making our flight arrangements. We ended up going to Tampa a day earlier than planned because it just made sense to do so.

So I bought tickets to MVMCP today and managed to snag a reservation at CRT for a late lunch that first afternoon at WDW. MVMCP and CRT in one day! What a great first day and start to our trip.

The CM remarked that the reservations in my record looked great. And then she saw how many times we had been to WDW (over 20) and she laughed and asked why I didn't work there. There are so many of us who could fit that bill!

Ouch, not sure how that happened, but it posted twice. I got the busy server signal and went back 5 mins later and hit send.......

So sorry.

Anybody doing the candlelight processional? I think it starts 11/24. The rates are available, but not dinner pkg tickets yet. I saw somewhere else that they can be purchased starting 8/15, but I couldn't get confirmation from WDW on this today.

Is it worth the extra $$$ for the reserved seating - like Fantasmic?

Yes in my opinion it is worth getting the package. Depending where you want to eat of course. The package could save you money and avoid a long line of people waiting to get general seating for the ahow. The folks that got the package get seated first.

We booked Thanksgiving dinner in Boma. We will be staying at the AKL for two night as there was no DVC availability for 11/22 or 11/23. We figured if the parks are out of control we could just enjoy Thanksgiving at the hotel.

I agree mmmcq that is a great way to start your vacation.

imho i wouldn't pay for the candlelight procession package. Dont get me wrong this show is beautiful and well worth seeing (more then once while your there if possible). We have been there the past three Decembers and there is always a hugh line of just the people who have purchased the package waiting to get seated. Two years ago when we were there mom and i sat to watch the show but it was just too cold out to sit thru the whole show. I would have been bummed if we had stood in line for 30 minutes just to leave early.

i'm not very tall so i find it easier to see more if i'm standing in the back then sitting behind someone.

Whatever you decide to do, your love this show (actually "show" just dosen't seem quite the right work to use for such a beautiful and moving performance)

:thanks:

OP, thanks for starting this thread. We are hoping for a TG trip in 2007 and I have all the same questions as you. It sounds like an absolutely beautiful time to go - just praying for a little pixie dust to make it all possible! Have a magical time!!

Will be there 11/18-11/25 wondering how Chef Mickey's is for Thanksgiving Dinner. Any suggestions would be wonderful. I need to make Dinner reservations somewhere. Birnbaum's recommends Chef Mickey's is the best Character Meal. HELP time is running out. I want to make sure we have somewhere to eat on Turkey day. We really don't care what we eat, don't really like the traditional stuff. Also should we make dinner reservations for all of our days there, this far ahead of time?

WE are spending the day at AK and then heading over to Ohanas for a dinner away from the crowds. We hope to watch the fireworks and water parade there too
