We usually stay at Days suites, which gets terrible reviews. We have always been very happy there. Probably because we just didn't know any better. We have never stayed any where else in the Disney area, so we had nothing to compare it to. Now that we are staying at POR I bet we will be amazed at the difference. I know we can use the bus. Is this recommended? I know we can charge to our room. Do you have to have charging abilities? I don't see where it matters. We usually use cash. I heard that you can get wake - up calls from Mickey, we are real excited about that. Also the EMH, should we go those days or go to a different park? I'm just a <little> bit excited! :teeth: Any info would be great. :)

One last question, are there many hidden Mickey's at POR? My kids would get such a kick out of that! :)

We *always* stay on site. We use the busses, its just convienient unless going to another resort for dinner or to DTD or PI. Take full advantage of the wake-up calls, nothing like a call from Mickey to start your day. You do not have to have charging on your room key, we don't because my step brother always loses the room keys *shakes head* Also anything you buy in the parks can be sent back to your resort, though don't do this the day you are leaving as it won't be there yet allow about 24 hours for packages to appear. This was awesome for us because we usually go in august and like to buy chocolate treats from Japan, and England. It's great not to have to lug this stuff around the park with you. It also makes it a lot easier for a mid day break, as you get to take advantage of EMH's so a nice mid day swim or nap is just the thing to get you energized for the evening. We would never stay off site after being on, its so much easier!

As for hidden Mickey's look everywhere in your room you never know when you will spot them. I believe there are some in the comforters.

Staying onsite is "MAGICAL!" "MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC!!" 24/7! And others will tell you all about the wonderful things about staying onsite.

We always stay onsite. It is so wonderful to be in a Disney Resort!

There are hidden Mickey's at all the Disney hotels. There are several websites out there that can help you find the hidden Mickeys.

Yes you can charge to your room. You use your resort id card to do it. You must leave a credit card imprint with the hotel to enable this. It is very convient!

You can have all your purchases sent back to your hotel so you dont have to carry them around.

I would never drive to the parks if staying onsite. The Disney buses are so much easier!

The EMHs are great for early risers. As for the evening ones, well my family is really looking forward to it since we are not early risers. :)

You will love staying onsite! It is just so much fun!!

I'm in agreement. If there is anyway at all you can stay onsite......do it!
It's so conveinent, the transortation is reliable (for the most part) and it just makes your trip more "Disney".
Have a wonderful time!

To use an old phrase, once you stay on site, you will never stay off site again. :earsboy:

I think you'll find it's an entirely different experience, and it will only enhance your visit to DW. I convinced my friend to stay onsite last fall, as she had always stayed offsite. We're going back in Oct. for a longer stay.

There are lots of great, tangible perks to staying onsite, which have already been mentioned.....

But for me, the Real Magic of staying onsite is Intangible - It's the feeling of No Worries. Of a complete seperation from the Real World. We get up in the morning & someone cooks us breakfast. We ride some form of WDW transportation instead of the hassles of driving & parking....... Then the great CM's in the Parks entertain us. When we are hungry, Voila! Food happens! I don't have to shop for it, cook it or clean up after it...... Then we are entertained some more, do some shopping without dealing with cash or carrying, then someone else chauffers us back to the comforts of our room. We might do some swimming or lounging.... Then someone transports us to more food, that someone else prepares..... I don't have to do anything except enjoy.
That's what I love about a Disney Vacation. I will never stay offsite. I'd rather go less often, stay a shorter time in a value resort or whatever. But I like not thinking about or being responsible for mundane day to day things from the time I step off the airplane til the time I step back on it to go home.

A Co-Worker asked me the same question recently. The first thing I told her was that the main benefit is an intangible one. (just like the poster above said). You're whole stay is DISNEY. The hotel room decor incorporates Disney in some why unique that that resort, the gift shop is full of Disney merchandise, the food courts/restaurants are either "disneyfied" or themed to the hilt. Everything is about being in a very magical place. Even the shampoo and soap!!! So, even when you leave the parks....your disney vacation continues on. You're not just going to a place to sleep......your still in Magic Land!

For what you can get for a value resort.....I can't see why anyone stays outside the parks. Well, for those families that are past the magical number of 4....it can be difficult. If you have to get two rooms, then it can get a bit more expensive, and renting a Condo in the area might be better....but I'd rather wait a year....save the moola....and stay onsite.

You will be sooo happy you stayed onsite. NO matter where you'll stay.

Have fun!

Our last wake-up call (3-17-05)came from Mickey and Stitch! Hold the phone far away from your ear, it's loud!
