Hi all! Well we just sold our house and we are going to be moving the end of August to Texas. We have decided to take a trip a few weeks later (9/23-9/30) before DH starts his new job Oct 3 (since he will not be able to take vacation for a year and our next trip is not planned until Feb of 2007). We have never been in Sept before. Can anyone tell me what to expect regarding crowds, weather and anything else we should know? We are booked at POP for all 7 nights but we might be switching the last 5 night to WL after we get the money from our house! We usually go in Dec, Jan, April and have been once in May. Thanks!

This September is a "free dining" program,it has never been done before,so no one can tell you how this year's crowd will be.

Historically,September is a low crowd month. When we went the last week of September last year there were hardly any waits even for the most popular rides. That being said, last year when I was there Hurricane Jeanne was passing through,so that might have caused some of the low crowds.

The restaurants will probably be booked full especially the resort hotels so you will need to make PS/ADRs for those restaurants you really want to go to.

The weather is a toss up. There can be days that are hot and humid and days that are cloudy and breezy. Hurricanes(except for last year)are rare so don't worry about that ruining your vacation. Watch the Weather Channel about ten days before you leave it will give you a rough estimate what to expect.

You picked a good month to go! Congrats on moving to Texas, I'm from there and love it!(I live in Kentucky now and am counting the days I can move back home).

Sept is the best timeto go.Its still warmto do everything yet not crowded so the extra person heat is not there. I doubt the freedining will be much concern since most people don't go because of school. I will be there the same time as you at POP as well.(Sept 22-Oct 2) You will have a wonderful time but because of the free dining PS is highly encouraged NOW.

Thanks! We will only plan on maybe doing 2 sit down places this trip. Mostly we will be using the POP food court and counter service. This is such a last minute trip for us-we usually plan for a full year before going. I will make some seatings tomorrow hopefully just in case we decide to use them. Thanks again! any other tips?

Ok, just got off the phone with dining. Made a PS for one sit down for almost every day (one day we will be at Universal, and we never eat sit down meals on arrival or departure days). Had no problems and had my choice of any times so it does not look filled up as of yet!

We went in September last year and will be going again this year around the same time (Sept. 18-25). The crowds were very low last year, and the weather was perfect (but see below), 80's but not too humid, and I'm someone who cannot stand too much humidity. It really was perfect. We rarely had to wait to ride anything, a few times we had to wait 15 or so minutes (Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise.)

However, we met up with Hurricane Jeanne at the end of the week and had to leave early. So, that's always something to be aware of. Hopefully, we'll get lucky this year and Florida will be spared weather like they had last year...

We also love September (our 2nd choice after May). The weather is nice and still warm enough to swim at night, etc., plus the crowds are historically SO low. We love walking on everything. The only thing that sometimes frustrates me are the "seasonal" restaurants and other things that can be closed, but it's a small price to pay. I am hoping this September isn't too crowded b/c of free dining...it's our first trip home as DVC members and we are taking my parents so I want it to be great! :sunny:

I'll be at POP when you are! Look for the lime green :)

what is the "free dining"? I am going in September and want to hook up on that!!!
Thanks

It was a promotion for a limited time. If you booked three nights at a Disney resort from 8/21 - 10/4 you got the dining plan free. It had to be booked by 7/3 or 7/4 I think. If you live in Florida, I think it ends tonight, 7/19.

thank you so much for the free dining info - I called asap on that one and the wonderful people at Disney game me my $700 credit for my dining plan - Now I am really excited about my trip!!!!

THANKS
