Tell me all about FANTASMIC

We really fancy going to see an evening fireworks extravaganza this year again - Fantasmic keeps cropping up in my mind but I don't know a huge amount about it other than in the guide books.

Anyone been - what's it really all about and is it worth going to?

Done MK and Epcot before, so this would be a nice change too

Its Mickey's fight againt evil basically and involves characters, stunts, fireworks, lasers and water projection screens.

Annie, I agree with Tracey, it's a must-see. I take it you haven't been to MGM Studios before? It is definitely worth a visit. What sort of passes do you generally buy?

Fantasmic takes place in a huge amphitheater. The action takes place on an 'island' and in the water surrounding the island - the water is in between the audience and the island.

There are three huge 'screens' of water onto which some of the action is projected - rather like film screens. There are three of these so that each section of the audience can see the same thing whether you are over to the right left or in the middle.

As Tracey has said there is a story line, some amazing pyrotechnics, music and stunts and it's loaded with characters. To tell you too much about it would be a shame - as with many Disney attractions it's the element of the unexpected that sets them above the rest.

Since it is included in park entry, I'm sure you and Mr D would enjoy otherattractions in MGM like the Great Movie Ride, the Backlot tour, the Indiana Jones Stunt Show and the Animation Tour and I KNOW you'd enjoy the Muppets 3D show - none of these are thrill rides so Darryl will be okay with these.

Actually, Shirley, we have been to MGM before, but never stayed for Fantasmic (naughty us ). I just love the Muppets Show, this is another reason why it would be a great park to revisit for the evening since we're not planning a trip for the day time since we won't have a lot of time. I'm looking at straight from Epcot into MGM (if they have Fantasmic on - my agent at DU has said they're thinking of changing the schedule ).

DD and I love it.
Dp missed it last year (he was on the tower of terror - bleugh) but seen it this year,i could see his face,and me thinks he thought it was brill too!!

Fantasmic is by far the most amazing show in all the Disney parks. A mixture of fireworks, lights, music and of course characters. IMHO, this is a MUST see for anyone going to WDW.

You have to see Fantasmic it is wonderful. Mickey's fight against good and evil is fab and at the end you have floats in the water with all the character on.

I'm excited just thinking about it.

Annie, you'll love it.

It's a great 'feel-good' show with loads of clips and tributes to Disney films through the years.
The finale makes me well-up with tears of joy everytime I see it.

Disney just isn't Disney without seeing Fantasmic!

Seriously though, IMO this is the best evening entertainment in Florida that we have ever seen. The atmosphere is amazing, the water floats are amazing and the lazers that show clips in the water is just stunning. Oh, and also the music is great too. This is such a great show.

You have to see it Annie! Get there seriously early though for decent seats or make use of the Fantasmic dinner package.

Seriously, if I was given the opportunity to visit WDW but allowed to visit just one attraction, then Fantasmic would be THE ONE! You couldn't possibly visit WDW without seeing it.
