OK. I need ALL the info I can get on what its like for christmas in Disney. Not christmas day, but just the first few weeks of decemeber. I already got a lot of info from the EVENTS section from the disboards but I need more info. I know about all the events that go on in each park, but what I've read just gives me a brief description. Im trying to sell it to DH. He wants to go in August for our anniversary but I REALLY wanna go for christmas time. So any info, stories, pics, whatever u can share, please do share! Oh and an added note: We will be staying at AKL.

There is so much that can be said for the Christmas season in WDW. You know all of the events that go on, but the decorations are fabulous. The atmosphere is so magical. DH and I love Disney at this time of year. The weather is cooler, the crowds are light and the whole time of year is very special. Every resort is decorated, so the magic continues to every part of WDW. I'm not sure I really want to sell this time of year to everybody...it is so nice having low crowds. If you do get to go, have a great time, it's the most wonderful time of the year (IMHO)!

It is my favorite time of the year in the parks.... the decorations and atmosphere is just beautiful. Getting in the holiday mood living in FL after spending 40+ years in the north is difficult -but Disney does a great job. We start with the day after Thanksgiving when my sister arrives for 10 days, and go full force into holiday events right through Christmas.

The resorts are fabulous - the creations made by the chefs that are on display are just amazing.

Early in the month the crowds are generally not to bad, and for the most part the weather is great - sometimes a bit of a chill in the air, other times quite warm.

The Osbourne Lights in MGM is something to see that you will see now where but Disney.

If I did not live in Orlando... I would certainly be visiting early in December!!!

We went from 12-16 until 12-23-05, and the parks and resorts were great. I would never go that close to Christmas again, because it was a madhouse the last day we were there. Plus, having to travel 2 days before Christmas was just awful, but we have college students who couldn't travel until the 16th.

The parades and decorations were outstanding. We went to MVMCP, not sure I would do that again. I was in awe of the Osbourne Lights at MGM. The weather was great, not too hot, but certainly not like back home where it usually snows. I would go again some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas in a heartbeat.

AJKMOM,
We are going Dec 15-22. How were the crowds towards the beginning of your week there?

Allyson :)

I fell in love with Christmas at Disney the first time I went to WDW and walked into the CF and was met by a guy roasting chestnuts! I was blown away and then that was topped by the Christmas show/ I love Christmas anyway and have wanted to go back for years at that time. DH always pushed for food and wine festival but this year travelling solo and going end of NOv -to 2 of December and am so excited!

The decorations are fantastic, I especially like EPCOT where each country has its own flavor of deocoratioins and the Santas and storytellers share about their holiday traditions, it is the little things within them that make them so specail, they fit right in with their theme, musical instrument of the wreaths and trees at the All Star Music, the Victorian Gingerbread House in the Grand Floridian, all of those little touches are so special.

MOMofCKJ:

If you are leaving WDW on the 22nd, you should be OK. You will find that the closer you get to Dec. 23, the more crowded it will be. If you hit a park on 12-22, it will be crowded, but not like on Saturday. It is very exciting to see all the holiday decorations, though. Magical.
