Ok, we chose AsMusic this year because we heard it was quieter and smaller. Stayed at Pop last year and hated the chaos. Please tell me all the great things you love about ASMusic!!

We will be there 9/17 -9/27. Me, DH, and DD(3).

We were there in the hot June season of 2007. IT is still a big big big resort and if it fits your budget you would be better off with the close in and $10/day more buildings. We were in Jazz and that was a long long walk in the rain or at the end of the day.

Pros: lots of activities by cast members for the kids and dive movie in the pool. Pizza was good and a nice way to do take out and eat in your room. The bus service shares and that can take a while and the bus stand is not shaded. the Piano pool was more quiet than the main one.

Cons: long walk to outlying buildings and a sun drenched bus stop. Lots of kids in the main pool.

i LOVE ASMu, i went with a school trip in early nov (05) and it was BEAUTIFUL walked out on the balcony every morning and it was GORGEOUS, we saw rabbits and hot air balloons in the distance, the pools are so nice, the food court is good too, depending on how far you are from the busses its not too bad, i am constantly confused why everyone stays at POP, ASMu is calm, quiet and a VACATION resort, I love it and if it were up to me, i would stay there again in May but DBFs SIL planned the trip and her DH is military so were going to SOG but the next trip implanning for DBF and I we'll be at ASMu! ENJOY!!

I have stayed at all levels of Disney Resorts. My favorite Disney owned resort is All Star Music.

Here are a few reasons :

1. I can book a preferred room location.($10 extra a night and well worth it in my opinion)
The way All Star Music is laid out it "seems" smaller than most of the other Disney resorts. If I stay in a preferred building I only see the Calypso and Jazz builings on the way to and from the main pool and the bus stop and food court. Since I stay in preferred room I know I am going to be close to the food court, bus stop, & main pool.

2. I enjoy the theming at the All Stars. All Star Music is also is the quietest of the values. Generally less people stay there and there are more seniors and couples and less young children because children enjoy the themes of the other values more.

3. The bus service at the All Star Music is very good. Since I use an ECV good bus transportation is essential.

4. The entry at the values and Mods are much more Handicap friendly.
I am able to get in and out of my All Star room unassisted. This way my husband can go and play a round of golf and know I can leave my room to relax by the pool if I choose.

All Star Music is my favorite resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

All Star Music just underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

DH and I enjoy the landscaping and peacefulness of All Star Music.
We enjoy relaxing by the pool (there are plenty of chairs and lounges), and the beautiful lighting at the resort by night.

I am 56 years old and travel several times a yearfor pleasure. I often stay at 3and 4 star and sometimes a 5 star hotels and motels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
Staying at an All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.

Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.

The Calypso pool at ASMu has Donald Duck.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Movies share and Music has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The pools at The All Stars are very kid friendly.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

Here are a few pool photos.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.

My last 6 visits have been at The All Stars and during the fall of 2005 when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3(at the time) for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have fun at Disney!

I stayed at the AMSu in '96. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We had a wonderful time. We had the Jazz bldg (2nd back from the main building) and had a view of the parking lot. We didn't care, it was a lovely room. Small, but we didn't care about that either. We weren't in it that much. The pools are nice and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

My family and I are staying there this coming June... I can hardly wait... We have stayed at all the other values and I am really looking forward to staying at this one.... I have heard all good things about the AS Music resort same as what prev poster "Minnie61650" said...

:yay: **Linda after reading your post I am even more excited to stay there!!!!!!**:yay:

We are staying at ASMu for free dining (bounceback). I was debating if I should upgrade to a mod or deluxe when free dining was released for the public yesterday.....

Thanks to Linda who reminded me why I enjoyed it so much last year at the same time frame. Now I am super excited to go back! We also stayed in a preferred room. I highly recommend the resort.

I did not get a preferred room, But I might call back... Which buildings are preferred? Does it really make a difference (possibly in the rain like Linda said) Just curious?

We were in Jazz last week. We didn't pay for a preferred room, so I'm pleased that we weren't in one of the back buildings. It seems to me that those buildings can be far from both parking and the main building.

As for the chaos, I'll go along with minnie61650 and say that this resort does seem quieter (perhaps the family suites result in a noticeable difference of people in the same space). The refurbed rooms were excellent and I was impressed with how much was going on for the kids.

9/17 -9/27 should be an excellent time crowd-wise to be there. Enjoy!

I'm going to ASMu this year for a quick get away in Sept. I am really excited to be going. If anyone is interested I have a list running of people who are going to be there this year. Feel free to sign up by following the link in my Siggy.

Got any photos of the resort we can see? I love looking at those :goodvibes

Loved ASMu. Hated the Country Fair section. As long as you stay away from that particular area, you're golden. It's a great resort!

Country Fair is just REALLLLLLLLY far away from civilization.;)

DH and I are staying at the All-Stars Music Sept. 20-23 during free dining. I've never stayed on site before. Thanks for all the great information.

DH and I are talking about driving our car to the themeparks daily from the resort since we get free parking and since DH knows the roads like the back of his hand. I wondered about parking at the All-Stars Music, though. Is it likely we will be able to park close to our room and then to drive to EPCOT or MK and park there faster than we can wait for the bus and not have to park at the themeparks?

Imho yes it does make a difference. I have stayed in building 8 for Pop Warner Cheer/Dance competition :cheer2:and it is a pretty long walk to the main building and bus stops. Last Sept. we stayed in Calypso #1 and we literally got off the elevator and we were directly in front of the main pool (which we loved). A few more steps and we were at the food court/bus stops. That is really nice when you are on a trip were you average over 10 miles of walking a day! The preferred rooms are well worth it to me and my family. Whatever you decide, have a great time!

As of right now, the only preferred rooms are the Calypso buildings #1 and #10 both right next to food court/bus stops/check in. Sorry forgot to post that information!

We've not been to Disney since 2005 and had booked free dining the pass 2 years but cancelled and went elsewhere on vacation. This year we are saving extra money on our beach vacation since we're going w/ DH's entire family. So I was thinking w/ the savings from free dining, getting the stimulus check from IRS, & saving money on other vacations why not upgrade to mod ( can't justify deluxe prices ). This thread has made it clear that we need to stay put at ASMu. Thanks for posting!

we LOVE ASMU!! i used to always stay at POP-- last Sept when we went POP was not avaliable so we decided to go with Music-- it is now my favorite resort:) The pool is wonderful to swim in at night-- they do different acitivities for children and it so much fun to watch the rooms are all reburbed and are great-- i love everything about this resort and i am sure you will too:)

Two years ago we stayed in the family suites, Calypso building, for free dining. Loved it! Since it's just 3 of us going this time we decided to try Pop. We'll see which we like better :)

I have already made my ressies for this resort, 9/12-9/21 :woohoo: BUT! I have one question!! This will be my first time at Music, I've stayed at Sports and POP, but as everyone says this resort can have a bit of a walk. As of now, ive scheduled a Standard Room, but is there ANY WAY to call and ask or try to see if we could get into the Jazz Inn section?! I've heard it's rennovated, and I play the drums so that would be pretty neat!!!! :thumbsup2 If anyone knows if you can ask to be put in a specific theme of the resort can you PLEASE let me know!! Thanks DIS'ers! :cool1:
