We are looking to get a new Stove ASAP.

If you have one what kind do you have and what do you like most about it?

I don't even know what brands are the best. :confused3

We have a GE Profile smooth top electric stove. We got it almost 2 years ago. I just love it. The smooth top is the best invention they came up with. It is easy to keep clean if you use the ceramabrite they sell for smooth top stoves. I simply wipe it up after dinner when I am cleaning everything else up. I use a wet paper towel and the cleaner. No scrubbing involved. It has stayed beautiful.

I used to hate trying to keep my old stoves clean. I was always buying new silver burner dishes because I couldn't get those things clean even with brillo. I highly recommend a smooth top, and GE is a brand we have always liked.

Thank you.

Our stove it terrible. We have replaced those rings a million times and sometime aways spills over and makes a mess.

My new house that I'm moving into next week has one, but I have no clue what kind. It will be my first one and I am very excited about it because that will mean less cleaning for me! :goodvibes

We have a maytag smooth top...haven't ever had a problem..I absolutely love it! If anything gets burned on you can use a razor blade to scrape it off (alot easier than it sounds, takes like a minute) and then clean it with the glass top cleaner. I don't think I would ever want the old kind again.

We have a Whirlpool smooth-top range. Controls are on the top along the right side so youngsters can't reach. Very easy to take care of and looks great.

Best wishes.

I have my second one right now - whirlpool
(the first is in the old house we sold)
they were bolth bought from the Sears outlets - cheapest ones in the place (we live in the apartment buildings we intend to rent out or sell so SH doesn't like to spend big $ - I am lucky to GET the smoothtop!)
I will definately get one for the new house too -
I am NOT a gourmet cook by any means - but i love it!
i love having more 'couterspace' when I am not cooking...
I think it is easy to clean - my favortie thing for that is the little plastic thing from pampered chef stones)

We have a Whirlpool smoothtop stove. It's 8 years old and still looks brand new. It hasn't exactly had tender loving care - something gets boiled over at least once a week. But, there are no spots on it and it still looks great.
The one suggestion the store had when we bought it was to be very careful not to boil over or splatter anything with a high sugar content. Even though a sugar solution may not feel so hot, it actually can get hot enough to melt pits in the top!

That's my favorite too. You can easily take pans out of the oven and set them on top of the stove. It's all flat, so you don't have to worry about "balance" and since it's ceramic, you don't have to worry about the heat.

Love, love, love my smooth top. I recommend getting a dark color top because I have heard that sometimes the white/off white stains or looks worn after a while. I have the black top, the rest is almond (Kenmore).

I started out using the special cleaners, but now I just use Soft scrub. It works the same, cheaper, easier to find in the stores and I have had not trouble with it at all.

It is an adjustment when you first get it (but almost any new stove is going to be)...but man, it is so nice having a stove that always looks clean.

We've had a Whirlpool smoothtop for about 2 years now and I love it. Clean-up is a breeze.

Oh and good point about the extra counter space when you aren't cooking, LOL...that is the first place all of my grocery bags go when I come in from shopping.

We bought the GE Profile about 5 years ago. I love the smooth top - don't have to deal with those nasty drip pans anymore!!!

Sue - I think I remember reading that if anything boils over to leave it until the stove cools - except anything with a sugar content - those spills need to be cleaned when it happens. It never said why - but now I know!

I have a GE black top and stainless steel front. I love it!! Won't ever go back!!

So basically cleaning it, isn't as hard as everyone makes it sound. Wipe up spills and use a soft scrub type cleaner on it.

Thank you everyone for you input. I didn't have a clue.

Clean up is that easy. If you do get something burned on, there is a razor blade contraption (I'm sure that's not the real name of it :teeth: ) that came with the stove that you use to scrap off the burned on food. 5yrs later and my stove looks as good as the day we bought it.

Very cool.

Now I am not sure if I want to get it before Thanksgiving or not.

We have the dinner here and I am not sure if I want my Stove messed up so quickly.
