Well put, simba. i didn't want an open debate on the forum but you put it so nicely!!! In fct one site I found for cavachons actually had a paypal button to put a deposit on now. like where do they live? who are the parents - how is the health? nothing about that..but hey Ic ould paypal now to hold one!!
To "breeders" like that, it's all about the money. They don't care if the dog goes to a good home, if the pup is healthy, etc. I know a lot of people complain about restrictions put on people by breeders and rescues (and I do agree that some breeders and rescues can and do go over the top in restrictions), but I would much rather adopt a dog from someone like that than someone that I can just hit a paypal button and have a puppy. At least then I know that these people care about the dogs. They aren't in it for a quick buck. They are more likely (I'm not saying it's absolutely certain, just more likely) to put some care into the dogs/puppies before they are adopted (as in both health and temperament wise).
I can't get over how much research you are doing for this, scottmel. I really am very impressed and love that you care so much to learn everything you can BEFORE the dog gets into your home. Whatever puppy gets you will be a very lucky pup for sure!
I have ordered and read several dog training books and it is helping to alleviate the fear some. But rest assured, any animal that lives here gets the royal treatment!!!
Thanks again for your help and input....Poor DH is out measuring for a fence that I feel MUST BE INSTALLED soon b/c the puppy needs a proper yard
