and I love the breed! They are wonderful with children and yet very protective when strangers get near the family. We have had no real health problems and our first Golden lived to be 17 years old! He was a wonderful dog.
Our second one is now 11 and starting to show signs of aging. He too is gentle and very intelligent! Our third one is a female and she is two now. She is a real doll baby and has the best personality. We are planning on breeding her but we have just heard about the mixing of Goldens with Standard Poodles and how the get all the great qualities of Goldens but do not shed! They call them Golden Doodles! So we are in the hunt for a Standard Poodle.
Standard Poodles are wonderful dogs also. They are actually from the retriever line and not at all like the personality of a little poodle. They are also very good with children and are known for their smarts.
