I have 2 young DD's, currently ages 5 and 7. DBF and I are trying to plan a trip (their first trip to WDW) for June/July 2009. Yes, I know it will be hot and miserable, but school schedules just won't allow for any other time really.

Anyway, they will be 9 and 7 when we go and I checked out buzz's unofficial thread yesterday and I'm very intrigued with the resort and think it might be a great place to stay. The other thing is, DBF's parents may join us on this trip and they sometimes have a hard time walking long distances, so I like the idea of the internal shuttle (golf cart) that you can utilize.

What I'm curious about are activities for the kids. I know Pop and ASMO are more decorated and colorful for young kids, but I gotta say, after DBF and I staying in a standard room at Pop this past September, I'm just not seeing it with the 2 kids. We were tripping over each other and putting the kids in there too... no! His parents, if they join us, will be in a separate room, and may not join us for the entire trip, so my real question is what is there to do for the kids? I head something about a "dig" and I saw they have a waterslide. Just interested to hear your personal experiences if you've stayed there with kids.

Thanks!

We stayed there when our girls were almost 3 and almost 7. They have a really wonderful playground. The pool had a waterslide but my DD would not go down it. The pool was very beautiful. We also rented a surrey bike one morning and the kids loved that. The food court had a lot choices for food. One bad thing is it is spread out and you can end up walking a lot if you are put in a building far out. I think we were in cabana 7b? near a bus stop. I would go after our breakfast in the morning and carry it back on a tray and we just ate in the room.
It is a very nice resort. I have recommended it to friends who enjoyed it. I would not hesitate to stay there again but we want to try different resorts for the fun of it.
Oh, and the dig site is the playground. I think the kids could dig in the sand and find engravings.
I did a lot of research before going and CS has the best bus service. We stayed for 8 nights. It was hard to leave!

We stayed at CSR in Aug with BF son- who is 8- He had a blast. Loved the pool and the slide. He really liked the food court too- kid menu is pretty good- lots of choices. It was very hot- 100- when we were there- every day! so we would come back to the pool in evening and cool off- We had a blast. Couldnt keep BF or his son off the slide. The playground looked like lots of fun for smaller ones too. I think there will be plenty for them to do .. Its a wonderful resort.

As for the walking- you dont really have to- We were on the back side- in Ranchos- and just walked out the door to the bus stop and took whatever bus came by to the front.. you dont have to walk the entire resort.. then you can take another bus back to your room.. I think the park buses stop at the front entrance last and then take a Downtown Disney bus from the front entrance and it goes all around the resort.

Wow, thank you for the replies! I was hoping it was what it appeared to be, a very nice, kid-friendly resort with lots to do, and it seems that it is.

I'm sure if you pose this question of any resort you would hear good and bad experiences. Nothing in life is perfect.

CSR is a great resort. It has an best pool and the longest slide of the mods. It does not share transportation with another resort and is centrally located making for quick trips to all the parks. CSR has a marina where you can rent bikes and boats along with fishing equipment too.

It is a large resort but we don't mind the walking. We know going to WDW that lots of walking is involved.

CSR is awesome! We have stayed there twice and are going back in December for our 3rd stay here. My DS loves the pool and the slide. The transportation is the best! You will have a great time at CSR.:cool1:
