First, let me say that I normally would search for information on the boards but it looks like the search engine is out to lunch for the time being.

So, what can all of you Disney fans tell me about Trail's End Buffet? How close to a buffet like Hollywood and Vine is it? Better/Worse?

We have never been and plan to leave MK one evening for dinner and then return for EMH Evening hours for the remainder of the night.

Thanks much in advance,
Sunking

I can't compare it to Hollywood and Vine but I have been to Trail's End several times and enjoyed it very much each time. Trail's End is definately not the biggest buffet in terms of selection but is the cheapest and definately a bargain because the food is so good. It has fantastic fried chicken, terrific ribs, delicious corn bread and yummy desserts. They also have sweet tea which many people like.

When we ate there several years ago, we thought it was pretty good. Last summer we had lunch there and we didn't care for it. You know, it was just ok. We had gone to the hoop do doo revue a day or so before that and it's the same food - maybe the night before hddr leftovers? Not sure but with so many other choices I would look around a little. If you do go, I would suggest taking the boat from MK to FW. TEB is MUCH easier to get to that way.

We love it. Most of our ADRs are there. I think they have a small buffet compared to some of the others. However, it is food we all like. We don't need a huge variety. DH is a plain meat and potatoes man, so it is his favorite.

We ate there on May 13th for ds'd 7 bday for dinner and the food was HORRIBLE!!!!! I could not believe how bad the food was...I was shocked that Disney could put out food that was so horrid. The only good thing about the buffet was the u-peel shrimp, the Rice Krispy Mickey treat my ds got for his bday and LEAVING!!!

We did the lunch buffet a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We were at the MK and really didn't want any fast food. So, we hopped on one of the boats that took us on a leisurely and enjoyable ride to Fort Wilderness. It gets a little confusing once you get there, but there are lots of CM's who will tell you where to go.

It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated immediately. The food was good --comfort food at its best--fried chicken, mac and cheese, corn bread, chili, sandwiches, fruit and desserts. Can't remember what the price was but it wasn't a lot. Great iced tea, also and great service. It was a nice way to take a break from the parks if you have some extra time. I know you'll enjoy it.

The Trail’s End buffets in general, but the breakfast in particular has to be the best, must little-known, value meal on Disney property. We’ve been twice in the past three years for the dinner buffet and thoroughly enjoyed each dining experience. It’s just such a laid back atmosphere, which is great for dh who will indulge me in a character meal, but prefers the normal restaurant environment. And he loves their fried chicken and peel/eat shrimp(dinner buffet). Next trip, we’ll try their lunch buffet. If you haven’t been, try it! I can’t imagine you’d be disappointed.

Best Service on this trip – Trail’s End restaurant!

Hope that helps!

I agree with this poster! :thumbsup2 And we enjoy their lunch and dinner's too ! ! ! It's a seriously underrated restaurant - for the price, and what you get, we love it. And we also ALWAYS get offered coffee - to go! :teeth: Which we always take - then go sit on a rocking chair on the porch while the kids go in the arcade.

We love Trails End.

We went last summer for supper and we liked it a lot. Very 'down home' sort of food...nothing super fancy but good. :) I was sort of hoping that the strawberry shortcake from HDDR would be there but unlucky.

I liked it a LOT better than H&V which was only okay the night we were there. We were also at H&V close to closing time so maybe that's why I didn't like it that much, but we really liked Trail's End.

Hope that helps!

Beth ;)

We were just there Friday night. Absolutely outstanding, best value on property, and Sweet Tea!!! My kids were in heaven. Only sweet tea in the State of Florida (we think).

Great service. Most of the Ft. Wilderness Cast have been there for years.

Great quiet atmosphere!!

We've been there several times for breakfasts and lunches, never dinner. (We usually eat light for evening meals.) We have been served by Ed, Linda & Donnell. All of them are wonderful servers. Really nice people and good food. We go there at least a couple of times each trip. We finally discovered the best way to get there is to drive, then take internal transportation. Unless you are already at MK and going from there. Then take the boat.

I've been here and don't intend to return any time soon. It was cumbersome to get to the place (I was driving, had to park, get an internal bus...)

The food was poorly serviced. The buffet itself messy and downright unappetizing in its disarray.

The choices were limited and tepid. I did not care for the food. I particularly did not care for the messy floor, nor the mason jar I was expected to drink from. :sad2:

The service was poor, and the place was essentially in chaos with running and screaming kids, and shouting adults (presumably parents?).

Nope. Not for me or my guests. :sad1:

We fed lots of growing boys here, they always like the food, and while not 5 stars, certainly good "homestyle" fare. The choices are varied enough that I can't believe a party would be unable to find at least a couple of things they liked. We also like to walk from a late evening meal down to the dock and watch the electric water parade. You can also usually see the fireworks at the MK from the dock. A nice evening topper :)

We were there last week, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both meals were good. The breakfast didnt have french toast this time which was disappointing but everything else was very good.

We had dinner the night before the FL Half Ironman triathlon and it seemed to have more pasta choices than usual which was great for all the athletes in attendance. But it still had the usual ribs, chicken, shrimp and carved beef along with sausage and peppers, chicken & dumplings and several vegetable offerings not to mention, salad, fruit and dessert!

Our experience with all the wait staff over the years has been great; never had a bad waiter there.
