Can you tell me about the "trail" between the Wildness Lodge resort and the Wilderness Campground?

I would like to use a scooter to travel between the two places, but I don't know if I will be able to travel between the two resorts using a scooter.

Any advice or thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely, Ray

Ray,
HI!

It's been years but I did it on a bike. I seem to recall the path was paved so you should be OK.

you should - there is one path close to the boat rental - this is the wilderness path - don't go on it.

the other path starts at VWL - the cement pathway that goes toward the bus stop then curves and goes down to the entry to FW - then you are on this for around 1.5 miles - it ends up at horse barn for the horses used in the MK (not the horses you can ride) and the petting zoo.

Hi Carol, thank you for your response.

I hope to see you in December again.

Hi Pat, thank you for your response.

I thought that someone mentioned that there were two different paths. I'll stay away from that wilderness path. I didn't realize that it was 1.5 miles for the sidewalk trail between the two resorts. This should be an interesting walk.

Sincerely, Ray

I rode both paths with an electric wheelchair three years back. Assuming there have been no changes, the paved path starts out as a sidewalk along the Wilderness Lodge bus stop and then heads out to Wilderness Campground, running parrallel to the road used by buses. It doubles up as a jogging trail with excercise points at intervals along it.

The path that starts out at the boat rental runs through the woods between the lake and the villas before crossing the road and joining the excercise trail. It is unpaved and uneven and the sand in places is soft. I have ridden it, but I wouldn't reccomend this unless you have someone strong with you to push you out if you get stuck in the sand.

Spiceycat,
What didn't you like about the wilderness path? We looked for that on our last trip but were directed to the paved bike path. Be on the lookout for deer. We saw alot during our walk.

was the paved path closed at all after the hurricanes or just the wooded path down by the bike rental?
So at the bus stop just go left (coming from the villas) and follow the sidewalk?

Andrew, thank you. I think that I'll stick to the paved trail since I will be by myself and I am using a rental scooter. I don't think AAA would help me on the trail...lol.

Snakes and gators - WDW tries to kept them off their property - but hey a wilderness path doesn't get check as often as the other ways.

besides snakes are very, very good at hiding.

you are walking close to the lake - so the gators.

the other path gets enough traffic (not to mention the buses going by it for most of the way) that the snakes and gators probably won't come near it.

I know I am being silly!!!
