Tell me about the rental strollers, please!

Seeing as I haven't been to WDW in 30 yrs and I didn't have young twins when I was there last I don't have a clue about the rental strollers!

Is there any storage?
Are there sun shades? (I see all this talk about the Ray so it made me wonder.)

I have a little stroller organizer that hangs on the back of my double Graco here at home. It's just plastic w/ a few pockets and a moderate sized zipper compartment. It velcros to the handle. Do you think it would be good to take that with me? Would it work on the rentals?

There are two sections on the back of a stroller:

A small area to hold your stuff (basically it holds a sweatshirt, or a sm/med disney bag, or some goodies, etc.)

Two soda bottle, juice cup, fountain drink sized holders.

There is a sun shade that covers the torso/head of a child.

The strollers at MGM-Disney are the worse (flimsy sun cover, older). The other parks have better strollers.

We put our diaper bag/backpack on the handles and then just take that with us on the rides and leave the stroller. If you want to bring in drinks, snacks, etc., there really isn't any storage space for that.

We usually get one Disney stroller and take one of our strollers. We use the extra storage for our soft cooler.

Question about hanging backpacks on the handles: by looking at the pictures on allearsnet, it looks like there is a bar all the way across the back of the stroller. It doesn't look like you could "hang" the backpack on the bar like you could if it was handles, is this correct? I would be very happy if there is a place to hang my backpack, because I don't really want to bring a stroller from home.

As for hanging bags, maybe some stroller hooks like these would work? Or a Carabiner like this would work as well. I've seen them at home depot.

Those hooks look neat, but we are leaving next Thursday 6/8, I don't think I have time to order them. I hadn't thought of carabiners - that's a good idea! Thank you very much!

All4Fun - Awesome idea on the carabiner! I'll definately try that. I would think if you used two of them -- one to hook each shoulder strap of a back pack onto the metal bar of the stroller it would be perfect!

One word of caution about the plastic hooks. I've broken two sets of those things. Of course I was hanging a big diaper bag full of stuff for twins but honestly they break easily and I doubt they'd be a good option to hang a bag full of drinks, etc.

After looking over some of that info on AllEars it seems that you might need to take some of those velcro straps to actually attach the carabiner to the stroller. I think the carabiner might not open wide enough to get over the handle.

We just got back from Disney and used the single strollers there all week. We were able to attach our backpack by making the straps pretty long, and looping over the whole handle, BUT had to make sure the pack rested on TOP - not dangling down - or it would tip as soon as DS got up. The shade was enough. We also liked MGM's the least, but he still did OK with it.

Also, if you rent for "length of stay" (as many days as you want) at the beginning, you pay $2.00 less per day. Keep your receipt, and you can get a new one as you go in and out of the parks.

Last time we went, we took our own stroller every day except the last. We rented one that day and I highly recommend it!! So much easier with bus transportation and much much better for our 5 and 3 year olds. Kids are 6 and 8 now and already thinking of renting a double stroller for them. I think it will be worth it to not hear "I'm tired!" I've seen bigger kids in strollers before and my kids are pretty small for their ages.

We just got back a few weeks ago, for ease of movement through the crowds, I would recommend 2 single strollers vs. 1 double (they have both, but I think "full price" a single was $10 and a double was $18).

Also, when you park it, place something on the seat, it gets really hot!

We were able to loop our backpacks over the handle of the single stroller without any problems.

Is there a way to rent a stroller for the entire length of your stay for a cheaper price? I figure I'll use one several days, but if it's cheaper to pay one bulk price than I'd rather do that. Thanks!
