Tell me about the Mickey Lamp Post!

Somebody had 8 or so of these that we saw on our recent trip to FW and they made them change colors-purple, blue, green etc. I would like to know how they did that. Anyone have any idea.
It's just a color changing LED lightbulb. I found mine on eBay.

I saw them as well. They said they bought the bulbs at WalMart.

My local Lowe's also carries them.

I've seen a lot of pics of these home made ears and at least for me using the 6" globes with a 12" head just makes it look again to me sort of funky in the ears are too small for the head and that's why I used the 8" globes for the ears, but each person has to decide what they like better. I actually looked at normal pics of ears and the ears were around .7 of the diameter of the head IIRC, and while mine are slightly more than that they are much closer than the ratio using the 6" ears.

Now if you are making the Dumbo lamp post that is a completely different story...
:lmao:

I use one made by LePage - it's called Flexible Plastic Adhesive and comes in a squeeze tube like airplane glue!

I just finished mine last night at the Fort. I think I figured out how to post a pic from my iPhone. I had a little trouble with the globes. Apparently the little round mark at the top is not always at the exact top. I also had a bit of trouble with cracking. I found that portions of the globe are significantly thinner than others. I used a $20 post sleeve from HD. I put two pieces of 2 by 4 with two little pieces of wood in between so the cord could go in the middle. I bought a piece also at HD that you can use to put a lamp on a 4 by 4 post and screwed that to the wood. I did the same with the 2 by 4's and two small pieces of wood at the bottom but screwed the 2 by 4's into an old table top I had to avoid the toppling that some people have had happen. The top and bottom slide right off of the post sleeve for travel.

Cute lamp! It looks great!!!! Like that it is on a shorter "pole", probably will be easier to store and carry around. DH and I are wondering how we're going to transport ours when we make it. I had to order all my stuff online. Our HD didn't have the fitter or the 12 inch globes. Thanks for the tip about the place at the top might not be true center. I'm ready to make mine! We won't be able to show it off for a while because when we got home July 1st from FW and Destin we had a huge bubble in one of the trailer tires and the landing gear on our fiver quit working. I am very thankful that the tire didn't blow and the landing gear waited until we got home to stop working. We called that day and they can't get us in until the 27th. No camping for me for a while!:sad1:

We have a double headed one. DH is going to put a red rope light bow on one of them to make them minnie and mickey. This past trip we had one with a blue lightbulb and one with a red one for July 4th. We also take our light everywhere and it has prompted many conversations!!
