DH has a conference there the week before Easter. We have always stayed on site. Would it be worth it to go and stay off site there during Spring Break crowds? How far away from MK is it? Give me all the details.

Here is a little background info - We are AP holders and have been to WDW 4 times since last May. I have a DS11 and DD4.

We will be staying there for a couple of nights in February before driving to Vero Beach. I can let you know then. The hotel does look very nice and I hear the pool is awesome.

stay here!!!

Your kids will love their pool.

this is similar to the deluxe resorts at WDW.

It is around a mile from WDW.

It is an absolutely beautiful resort.

I want to stay there sometime myself....

a few days ago but no response. Anyway, this place is BETTER than the Polynesian, IMO. We got a $99.00 government rate, they're also other discounted rates you can get such as AAA, AARP, internet rates etc. This place is absolutely gorgeous and is about 2 minutes from Disney. They have swimming, biking, HORSEBACK Riding, jogging, a lake, boating, golf. The place is very GRAND, I believe it's a 4 or 5 star rated hotel.

brunette - I am jealous - a $99 rate.....

this hotel use to be the only 5 star in Orlando - then when WDW kept building nicer resot (ie - GF) - AAA lower them to a 4 star - they got mad and quit listing with AAA for years - I think they are back now.

they had no problem filling their rooms without AAA.

Interesting. Thanks for your feedback. I love the Hyatt Grand Cypress! The gounds are just gorgeous and the rooms are spectacular!! It far outweighs the Polynesian and the Contempoary.

LOL! I got those rates last summer for $99.00 a nite it was a steal!

Thanks for the replies. I am still not sure if we will be going. It looks nice and I have read some Trip Advisor reviews. I did read that the pool is not heated, which is a bummer.

$99 is a great rate. The company would be paying for it if we went, so I am not worried about cost. LOL

I am just wondering if it will be worth it to go during Spring break with the large crowds, but I guess staying off-site will prompt us to go other places. I have be dying to go to Margaritaville.

If you can, stay in the Villas @ the GC ... they are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Stayed there last year; would live there if they'd let me!

By mid-Spring, you may not need the pool to be heated!!! I was in their pool last March, and it was great! Its been in the 80's here for 2 weeks straight... if this weather keeps up, you'll have no worries!

I can't imagine swimming it that pool in March with it unheated. Can't they afford to heat it? Seems silly to me.

Out of curiousity, I called the Hyatt to ask about the pool heat. The person I spoke with said that only 1/2 the pool is heated year around. I inquired about the area with the slides, & the area with the waterfall. She said the area with the slide is heated, but the waterfall area isn't. If your kids are anything like my son, the slide is all that matters. I think the hotel is beautiful, & have been telling DH that we need to go over for a weekend and just hang out around the hotel. Staying offsite, will allow you to take advantage of the other things Orlando has to offer. That is, if you can drag your kids off the slides :p Enjoy! :)

tarheelmjfan - you were sweet to do that!

thanks.

However this resort is still out of my budget - $299 per night....

We are staying here in May-- DH has a conference here -- so free hotel yeah! I've never stayed off site before so forgive me if I ask dumb questions. Does the hotel have shuttles to Disney? Are they good? How often do they run? The pool looks awesome!

I love this place. The pool is awesome. We went in July and let me tell you, the unheated pool was so refreshing. They also let you swim all night. After a long, hot day at the parks to be able to come back from a midnight swim is wonderful. Rooms were large and very nice.

They have the best Sunday Champagne Brunch. My DH and I will do this again but next time, we will be spending Sunday night at the Hyatt.

The one pool that is heated is much smaller than the other pool area. There are two water slides and the smaller one is in the heated section.

We considered going back there this March as expedia was offering a deal of stay 3, get the 4th for free. did you check there for rates?

We loved it for the pool and the location, but not the resturants, bars etc.

It was a wonderful resort and you can even see MK, EP and downtown disney fireworks on most pool view rooms.

Have fun.
