I have read about this lounge area in AK but have not been able to get any real specifics under the DIS search engine. What types of food/drinks are served and are they any good? Others have mentioned there is live music; if so, is it at specific times? Who has stopped here and is it a place that 2 exhausted adults can crash while their energetic kids criss-cross the park for the millionth time to do a ride??!! Thanks for your help!

Dh and I enjoy crashing at Dawa Bar; relaxing with a drink and watching the entertainment. It's right next door to Tusker House, so if you want something to eat it's no problem to carry your food over to Dawa Bar. I'm not positive on the times of entertainment, but when we've been there it seems to be hourly.
They have the usual mixed drinks, beers, etc.; in addition the bartendars are usually very friendly and helpful
:D

It would be even a better bar were they to have draft beer--but alas, they do not. At one point (when I believe the bar was called Victoria falls(??) they had Safari Amber on draft. Next visit, it was gone, and only Tusker and Zambezi as the African beer selections--in bottles.

They serve safari amber at tusker house..we just go inside and bring it out, or that's the way it was when we were there last. Hope they still have it.

Great place to crash, cool off and enjoy a wonderful margarita while watching the parade or the entertainers. Good bartenders who make nice 'kid friendly cocktails' also. DS(12) enjoyed a lime cooler just this month. Service is fast and the bartenders are very friendly and helpful.

Webray--they even had it at one of those refreshment stands in the Ak when we were there in Sept.!!! Makes it all the more of a puzzle why they don't have it at the Dawa bar:confused:

Thanks for all the info.....my husband will especially like the option of taking a break, getting a beer and people watching when it gets hot and he gets tired (like, around 11:30 a.m. LOL)

I was there last week and they do have draft now. Just three: Bud, Mich Ultra and the Safari Amber.

Excellent bar; now on my "must-do" list. :) I like the Rum Runners and some of the other specialty drinks. Not cheap, but not watered down, either.

For the entertainment times: limbo dancers/acrobats right by the bar, and there are some drummers/musicians across the way, try Steve Soares' website (I don't know the URL off-hand...there is a link on allearsnet.com)...he has listings of the more "casual" entertainment that is not listed on guides.

Cheers!

Catnik check your watch...in WDW that is known as "beer-thirty":earsboy:

My husband is from Wisconsin, was raised on Packer games and totally agrees; it is ALWAYS "beer-thirty" somewhere in the world and what better place to celebrate than WDW :D

Good news!!
When they had done away with draft beers, I had asked the bartender why. He said he had no idea---.
Anyway--not much of a selection when you get right down to it, but at least Safari Amber is available.
And by the way--it sure looks and tastes VERY much like Michelob Amber Bock.
