Tell me about the Chevy Equinox

Can someone tell me about the truck space on this vehicle? I rented the Equinox at a great rate through Alamo. Alamo's web site shows this vehicle as only be able to handle 2 small suitcases. I've seen pictures and it looks like a good amount of trunk space.
I'm going to have 4 suitcases (3 small 1 large) and a stroller.

I've been looking at cars recently and the Equinox is one that I've
looked at. It is a little SUV, so I think you'll have plenty of space.

I have two of these reserved through Alamo also for our February trip. There are nine of us going but six are kids (although 2 of them are pretty big almost 13-yo boys) so I was worried about the trunk space too. I did a search on-line and the Equinox has 20 cu feet of trunk space and the back seat slides forward 8 inches to make more room (in my case little people in that seat so we can slide it forward). There seems to be some type of shelf on either side of the trunk though so that probably does waste some space. We have rolling duffle types of bags and looking at the pictures I think I can put at least two of those in the trunk. Check out autobytel.com for some pictures of the interior including the trunk.

Would love to hear from someone that actually has one or has rented one though since you have already put stuff in the trunk and know what it will really hold. It is hard to tell from the pictures.

I have one and absolutely love it. There is alot of trunk space and the back seat is very roomy.

You will definietly be able to put two duffle bags in the trunk. We go camping alot, and I have fit 1 huge duffle bag, 1 medium duffle bag, 3 small duffle bags, a tent, 2 folding camp chairs, and lots of other odds & ends stuff in the trunk. HTH

That's awesome. Thanks! I knew somebody would have personal experience with one. It is hard to tell from the pictures. DH was worried about the size of the vehicle and the luggage space but now he will be relieved when I can tell him someone actually has one and this is what they fit in the trunk. This should help everyone who was wondering about the Chevy Equinox!

It looks like the back seat area is big. Would I be able to fit 1 kid in a car seat and 1 ten year old and still have room to put a cooler or a bag or two in the back seat with the kids.

Oh yes...I fit 2 full size car seats and an adult in the middle, and still put a small cooler, and a duffle bag on the floor in front of the car seats. Granted the adult was a little squished, but just wanted to give you an idea of how much room there is. The back seat is very roomie!!

We just got back and we had reserved the midsize SUV from Alamo. When we got to the lot, I could not make the distinction between midsize and regulalar SUV. We took a GMC Envoy and no one said anything to us and we were charged the midsize SUV rate.

What other SUV's would be the same class as the Equinox? I was thinking with te great rates that Alamo had been offering, the Equinox may be in short supply.

My 2 cents......I ran by a chevy dealership to see if we could use the equinox or if we would be better with the trailblazer. I have ressies for both at the moment and it's about a $40 difference.

For my family I don't think we could fit our luggage in the back. My family is DH, myself, 5 and 3 yr old boys who both use boosters. We usually have 2 regular suitcases, 2 kid size suitcases and a large duffle. Plus 1-2 carryons. I just can't see fitting our luggage in the back of this and we aren't even taking a stroller on the trip. So for my family the $40 savings is not worth the loss of trunk space. However I will say the car is cute and I would happily rent it if I thought we could get away w/ the trunk space. Of course the luggage is only an issue to/from airport. I'm sure the rest of the time it would be very comfortable.

We and it seemed like every other person in the Chevy Dealership during the employee pricing sale bought an Equinox. The back seat is roomy. I would say the trunk area could handle at least 2 large suitcases and a duffle bag or 2. If you only have 2 in the backseat you could fit more luggage in there.

For 4 people you would have more than enough room.
